Yes, I have skipped over the dinner portion of the day. There are no photos of it, but it was divine!
After our 20 minute cocktail hour, all the guests were seated. Mr Waffle and I took advantage of the “all guests were seated” business to go to each table and say our “hellos” and “thank yous.” This worked out perrrrfectly. I wanted to make sure we were able to talk to everyone that came and having captive tables of people waiting for Royal Fig’s heavenly BBQ to be served up was just the ticket!
Due to the fact that we were running a bit behind, Kristen of Royal Fig suggested a new reception schedule for us and I said “yes” without hesitation because that lady knows her stuff. She and her staff had run everything form their end seamlessly so far and I knew I could trust her expert opinion.
We grabbed our champagne flutes and started with toasts.
Best Man Rock Star kicked it off with a lot of funny one-liners and some embarrassing info on Mr Waffle. Everyone had a good laugh. Read more…

So, this part of the day was the one I was most depressed about a few days following the wedding. The evening before we left for our Hawaiian honeymoon I recall being a ball of tears on our kitchen floor.
Due to the rain delay, we lost cocktail hour. It had gone from a full hour to 20 minutes. It was supposed to be the time where we rushed through family photos, took fun bridal party photos and then bride and groom portraits. All we had time for were stuffy, formal family photos and scarfing down some passed appetizers. We were unable to sneak away for photos of just the two of us on our day. There simply was no time. Our venue and Nadine graciously offered to reschedule a day for us to do bride and groom photos, but I knew in my heart it would not be the same. A special magic hung in the air that day and was clinging to us in a way that would fade in the days to come.
Luckily, when we received our wedding photos, we saw some brilliant shots that were taken in the lost cocktail hour which have since lifted my spirits. Do I still mourn the pictures that could have been? In all honesty, yes. However, I am joyous in what we do have.
Here’s our collection of formals and candids from that small window of time. Enjoy.

To continue with the theme of the memory jars, we had decided that we would seal our vows in a jar after saying them to each other. Captain Toes presented the jar to those assembled and explained its purpose.
Mr Waffle was first. I held the jar and listened to his words…

Hello bees! Because it’s Friday and autumn is in the air (well, at least here in blazing-hot Texas it’s finally in the eighties/nineties), I found myself playing around on Pinterest. And why not share with you some of my favorite wedding-related pins of the day?

Hooray! We were finally at ceremony time! Let’s see…where did we leave off? Oh, yes! I had just met Grammy Waffle at the entrance of the tent and had changed from my jellies into my fancy heels.

I’ve been wanting to contribute to this series for a long time, and I finally got it together! I know other bees have written about Austin, but hopefully I can provide a unique perspective on the city I’ve called home for the past 10 years.
For me, Austin is the perfect mix of small town and big city. It has a famously wonderful and eclectic music scene; delicious, cheap, and varied restaurants; amazing bars, from the trendy to the just plain dives; and even a budding film/TV scene (think Friday Night Lights!). Austin is the perfect place for a casual honeymoon filled with lazy days at Barton Springs, shopping at boutiques on South Congress, and eating your weight in breakfast tacos.
FOOD
We all know the most important part of any vacation, especially a honeymoon, is food. Austin has SO MUCH good food. It’s pretty much insane. I don’t know what I’d do if I ever moved—I’m sure I’d go through Tex-Mex withdrawal.
Tex-Mex:
Trudy’s might be my favorite Tex-Mex spot. Not only is their menu delicious and extensive (everything from a chicken-stuffed and breaded avocado to portabella fajitas to mango-tilapia quesadillas to cheesecake flan), they also have some of the best drinks in town, and a lively bar scene. Must try: the Mexican martini. It’s basically a kicked up margarita on the rocks, served in a shaker with a martini glass and olives.

My friends were doing a super job of keeping me entertained, but I was getting ants in the pants and wanted to get the show on the road! We were supposed to start the ceremony at 6:30 and it was now 7:00.
Magic Alie finally came in and let us all know we were ready for go-time and roughly described what our new ceremony site looked like. This did my brain in a bit. For a year, I knew exactly what the trek down the aisle was going to look like. Now, I had no clue. The control-freak part of me started to panic a little, but “I just wanna get married” me squashed her down and said, “Screw it! Let’s bustle this dress and get hitched!”

With the downpour of rain, Mr Waffle was beside himself. He thought I was surely broken-hearted and having a meltdown over the rain situation because he knew how hard I worked for the past year and how carefully I planned all the details for a garden wedding.

Needless to say, he was slightly miffed when he saw these pictures and heard about the fact that I was laughing and being entertained by my besties.

At one point, while I was getting my hair and makeup done, I heard rumbling and hushed conversations about rain and knew that Team Waffle had moved everything from the ceremony site to the tent. There was a brief sprinkling and the sun went back to shining, so the team moved everything back outside. It looked something like this.

I know “guys getting ready” posts aren’t necessarily popular, but I would feel a huge sense of guilt if I didn’t give Mr Waffle and his posse their shining moment.
I’m not exactly sure of all the details of Mr Waffle’s morning. He couch surfed at a friend’s house the night before because he is sweet and traditional and didn’t want to see or hear from me until we met at the end of the aisle. He waited until I was gone to brunch to come home and print out his vows and then had lunch with his family.

While Mr Waffle and his people got ready, I seized the moment to get dressed, catch a glimpse of the ceremony/reception set-up and take a few solo pictures in my gown.
