3. We are both major impulse buyers. It is crazy what crap we will buy for no good reason other than it was by the register and we saw it while waiting in line. If we didn’t have this little problem we would have never bought “Little Man” on DVD or Old Navy wrapping paper. Man, I wish we could stop…

Differences:

1. We have complete opposite fighting styles; Mr. Pumpkin always wants to talk it out right away and I usually want some quiet time to think. This is very frustrating to both of us! Of course we both think that our style is better than the other - see above: “stubborn”

2. He is horrible with controlling his finances and I am completely anal. I open every letter I get as soon as I get the mail and if it is bill I pay it immediately. If it is my credit card statement I immediately go into the office (where I have kept every bill from the previous month organized by type of vendor) so that I can match up the bills to the statement, staple them together and file accordingly. I have a copy of every credit card transaction I have ever made. Mr. Pumpkin has mail from 1996 that he still hasn’t opened and if I didn’t make sure that at least the minimums were paid on his credit cards he would be in BIG time trouble.

3. He holds grudges against famous people, I do not. He refuses to watch Ben Affleck movies, I don’t know why. He loved Good Will Hunting and Armageddon but sometime after Paycheck I think he and Ben had a falling out. Now he refers to his movies as Ben Assflicks. I continue to buy every Janet Jackson album she puts out, even though the last two have been really disappointing.

3. I make 3×5 flash cards of vocabulary words like “ichthyology” and “ectomorphic,” and I study them in my spare time. Please stop laughing.

4. Until about three weeks ago, I had no idea what a trunk show was. I thought it involved actual trunks containing designer gowns that you could look at but not touch, much less try on.

5. Apparently, I’m unconsciously obsessed with the number two. I tend to buy everything in pairs: framed prints, decorative vases, pets, etc. (Is this a sign I’ll have twins??)

6. I have a litterbox-trained house rabbit named Oliver. He’s got run of the place, and is best friends with our retired greyhound, though the irony is lost on them:

“Mom! I can’t believe you told them I use a litterbox! I’m so embarrased.”

And now, 6 Random Things About Me!

1. For the life of me I CANNOT make instant rice. I have tried many many times and I always follow the directions to a T, but it always comes out either too mushy or not cooked through. I think I am a reasonably intelligent woman but rice baffles me every time. I even bought the Pampered Chef rice cooker (basically an idiot proof rice cooker) and I still can’t do it. Damn you Uncle Ben’s!

2. Before I had contact lenses I used to cut my eyelashes because they would hit the inside of my glasses every time I would blink. I know, I know, poor little me with the too long eyelashes but it was really annoying, I swear! Thank God they grew back.

3. I buy make-up like crazy (I LOVE Sephora!) but I never wear it. I buy it because it is all so pretty, but I really don’t know how to put it on properly and I always feel like a clown when I actually do myself up. I have a closet full of all of this fabulous stuff and the most I ever wear is tinted moisturizer, some concealer where I need it, some loose powder to de-shine and some Carmex. If I am going out at night to a function or the bar, I will add some mascara and maybe some very light lip gloss. Oh how I wish I knew how to make sexy smokey eyes without looking like a reverse raccoon…

4. I love board games but I am horrible at them! My favourites are Scrabble and Monopoly and I am up for a game whenever I can find someone who will play with me. But I NEVER win.

5. I am extremely organized and plan to have everything done well ahead of time EXCEPT for my school work. When it comes to school I am always disorganized and do things at the very last minute. I am sure that there is some sort of psychological explanation for that but I don’t know what it is.

6. I rarely swear *except* when I am playing video games. Something about Playstation turns me into a trucker with a potty mouth. I will put expletives into the craziest combinations that you have ever heard when I can’t make the Cat in the Hat float on his umbrella, or when Chad Johnson drops a pass I have thrown him in the end zone.

5. I am a complete dunce on financial matters. I never overdraw my account or anything, but if you talk about anything more complex than a checking or savings account, and I get utterly befuddled… CDs, mutual funds, mortgages, futures… I understand none of it.

6. On October 22, 1996, I was on a bike ride with my dad and I fell and scraped up the right side of my face *really* badly. He gave me some Tylenol from his first aid kit, and that night I had blue jello and beef stew for dinner. Because of the tylenol, I threw up blue beef stew. And I still think about that, every October 22. TMI?
