Yet Another Gadget

January 26th, 2007 @ 6:33 pm by Mrs. Lily

I need to make little “thank you” tags to go along with my favors. To do this, I just bought the Uchida Clever Lever Mega Punch in a scalloped oval shape.

I got mine at 1StopSquare, although lots of places sell them. Now I just have to find some good paper to go along with my adorable paper punch. Any ideas for places to look in New York?

Marshmallow Hearts

Heart shaped marshmallows from Martha Stewart Livings, February 2007.

This is a sweet little detail if you’re serving hot chocolate at your wedding, bridal shower, or engagement party. To make them, cut marshallows in half horizontally, and press a heart shaped cutter into each one. Too cute!

Milk At Reception

October 30th, 2006 @ 10:24 am by Mrs. Blueberry

I got this idea the other day, inspired by Miss Strawberry’s post on bottled milk. It ocurred to me that what goes better w/ cake or cookies or chocolate than milk? Nothing! So then wouldn’t it be cute to have personal-sized milk cartons available at the bar (alongside the soda and wine and beer)? I figure we’d have skim and 2% (my and Mr. Blueberry’s favorite varieties, respectively) and maybe chocolate, too.

Something like this would be adorable:

Autumn

October 26th, 2006 @ 4:24 pm by Mrs. Plumeria

The first few light sprinklings of rain have come to the California Bay Area, bringing out a thick muddy smell from the concrete and leaving tiny spots on my windshield. My laundry at the end of the week has more sweaters than thin blouses, and my down jacket has become increasingly more valuable as the days get colder. I love summer, but there are parts of autumn that I look forward to every year.

One thing I’m looking forward to immensely is a nice, tall Pumpkin Smash Jamba Juice, only available during the fall months. In my experience, people either hate the flavor (a delectably creamy liquid piece of pumpkin pie in a cup, basically) or love it, like me. To me, it’s like drinking sunshine. Sooo good.

To warrant this post wedding-related, I must share that Jamba Juice does do catering for events, including weddings! If you’d like to feature a Jamba GoGo crew and made-to-order smoothies at your wedding, give them a call at 1-866-JAMBA-GO. Sounds like the perfect, healthy addition to the menu for a fun outdoor wedding!

Reception Food

September 29th, 2006 @ 11:34 am by Mrs. Blueberry

For a couple months now, I’ve been gathering suggestions on what food we should serve at the wedding. And while we can’t please absolutely everybody, since everything will be delicious (when aren’t desserts delicious?) I think people *should* survive if their most favorite-ever-pastry isn’t on the 20-foot buffet.

And with no further adieu, here’s the list:

(Note: the new Justin Timberlake song is on in the background, and there’s a slight possibility I was just twirling and dancing around my apartment singing, “I’m bringing dessert back!”. Maybe.)

Foods:

  • Two chocolate fountains: a 25″ of milk chocolate, and an 18″ of white chocolate
with various foods for dipping: giant pretzels, marshmallows, angel food cake, maraschino cherries, fresh strawberries, fresh pineapple, rice krispie treat squares, and caramels. (our vendor suggested a bunch more, but we decided to keep it fairly simple since we’ll have so many other desserts)
  • Mini cheesecakes
  • Baklava (Greek/middle Eastern honey and walnut pastries)
  • Kourambiedes (Greek wedding cookies, and my favorite dessert ever!)
  • Tuxedo strawberries (making these myself!)
  • Assorted chocolates
  • Sugar cookies (my aunt makes the most delicious sugar cookies ever!!)
  • Sugar-free brownies (for diabetics)
  • Sugar-free chocolates (also for diabetics)
  • Fresh fruit (I’m thinking of using watermelon bowls for this)
  • M&Ms in our wedding colors
  • Lemon bars
  • After-dinner mints
  • Mixed nuts
