The 2013 wedding runway offers the modern bride more sparkle than shine with its lovely and ladylike details, from elegantly refined silhouettes and hints of color to exquisite embroidery and sophisticated embellishments.
And so it’s time to focus on the (sometimes) little things that can make a big difference. A perfectly placed bow, a bit of embroidery, some fancy fluff, or a beautiful back can all elevate even the simplest dress to the superb. Because while the devil may be in the details, we saw only the divine on this years wedding runway!
Here are a few of our next-to-impossible to choose favorites:
Beautiful Bows

2. A Beribboned Back:
Whether your taste is simple and classic or decidedly avant-garde, we’re certain you’ll find some amazing adornment to suit your fancy and grace your crown on this year’s wedding runway.
Because while the dresses may have veered towards classic elegance, the headpieces were anything but, instead favoring bold drama, extreme lengths, and exaggerated embellishments.
Here are a few of our favorite show-stoppers:
1. Gorgeous Glimmer:

2. Fabulous to the Floor:

Fit and Flare, Mermaid, Trumpet—whatever you call them, there is no denying that these dresses are fantastically flattering and daringly dramatic, too! Sleek on the top, and embellished to various degrees on the bottom, they hug your curves in all the perfect places.
We just love the variations of this silhouette that appeared on the runway this year—some with a subtle, almost indiscernible flare, some with dramatic draping and fancy feathers flouncing to the floor, and still others that fell somewhere in between. So however subtle or bold your appetite for a fancy flare might be, we’re certain there’s at least one for you out there.

2. Romantic Ruffles:
If 1950’s classics like Sabrina are your cup of tea, and you’re craving a creative way to accentuate your curves in all the right ways on your wedding day, look no further than the peplum!
Made famous by Dior’s New Look, it’s a vintage detail with a hefty pedigree that made quite an appearance on this years wedding runway. We think it’s absolutely charming and perfectly re-imagined in a variety of ways for the the modern bride.
Here are a few of our favorites:
1. Short & Sweet:

2. Asymmetry & Lace:
Illusion necklines are a lovely and ladylike vintage detail we were thrilled to see make such a comeback on the runway. Whether you want to make a bold statement with sparkles and lace, or a subtle one, all sheer silks and wispy cotton candy confection, there is sure to be one that’s just right for you.
Plus they offer more coverage (and interest) than the ever-popular strapless dress. So if you’re in the market for something delightfully demure, but don’t quite want sleeves (another hot look we’ll get to soon), look no further!
Here are a few of our favorites:
1. Bedazzled Beauty:
2. Simple Silhouette:
If recent celebrity weddings are any indication, colored wedding dresses are having a real moment. And why not? The addition of subtle color is warm, flattering, and super photo-friendly.
And the dresses floating down the runway in delicately hued shades of gold, cream, pink, and even green, are absolutely stunning! Every bit as bridal as their white counterparts, these subtly colored wedding dresses add a surprisingly sophisticated twist to your bridal ensemble.
Get ready to dream in color:
1. Golden Glow:
2. Blushing Ball Gown:
Old-school glamour came back in a big way on the spring runway at this years Bridal Market. Portrait Backs, too. And are they ever a fabulous surprise!
Their unexpected attention to detail is captivating—at once classic and yet thoroughly modern. Not to mention practical, because you will likely spend a fair amount of time at your wedding with your back to your guests. Truly. There’s the big walk down the aisle, all the dancing, and the delightful doling out of giant hugs willy-nilly, leaving your beautiful back on display for everyone else.
So when they’re not basking in your bright-eyed bridal glow, you might as well give your guests something to look at right?
