I stopped by one of my favorite stores in the world yesterday, Sephora, and I saw an ad for the Soolip Wedding event on March 30th in Los Angeles that Miss Cherry Blossom recently blogged about. It’s $45 per ticket, but they have special discount tickets available if you purchase online here using the voucher code: “sephora”.
If you stop by any Sephora store, they also give away a free copy of Los Angeles Weddings magazine!! (Usually worth $5.99, wuhoo!!)

Fresh outta my email box - A Soolip Wedding Event!

What up Weddingbee! Long time no blog!
This past Saturday, I met up with Miss Peacock and Miss Jasmine for the Chicago Social Brides’ An Evening of Luxury event at the so-new-it’s-not-even-done Trump Towers (seriously, I think the building is only halfway up, but the lower half is apparently open for business). We weren’t quite sure what to expect, but we forked over the hefty entrance fees ($60 for the first ticket and $25 for 2 additional tickets) and valet fees ($23/car!) to see what it was all about. We were enticed with the promise of a “luxury swag bag”, but were bummed to hear that only the holder of the $60 ticket was able to receive the goodies. Ah well, at least our admission fees benefited the Y-Me Illinois organization.
This event was quite different from the traditional bridal show. There were no vendor tables on display. They only featured one venue (Trump Towers, obviously), one floral design company, and one DJ/Media company. We walked around, sipped champagne, noshed on food, watched a Vera Wang fashion show, and met a few Weddingbee readers!

Have I got something for you!
Andrew Hsu from Morning Star Videography, was a potential vendor we were planning to work with after my unfortunate no-GO with Monster Crayons. Although we had decided on our other option (more on that at a later time), Andrew was still extremely kind to offer his services even as a second opinion or just a sounding board. How nice is that?!
Today he sent me an email for a swanky event for Promises and Pearls Bridal Soiree happening at the San Francisco Design Center, March 5th, 7 pm - 9pm. Check it out and register if you’re interested! (Thanks Andrew!)

Aside from the Paper Wedding event, the Wedding Show at the Chicago History Museum was the best wedding show that I have attended in the past year. Blue Plate and the Chicago History Museum are holding the event again this year on March 13, and if you live in the Chicago area I really recommend going.
The very pretty Chicago History Museum
I am really swearing off wedding related events, i.e. bridal expos, trunk shows, bridal luncheons, vendor showcases and “evenings of bridal luxury.” I don’t care how much free champagne and cupcakes they offer me, I am DONE. However, I went to Paper Source’s Paper Weddings last year and I briefly flirted with going back for a second round. There were two shows that I have attended in the past year that were actually helpful, and this was definitely one of them (I will write about the other one soon). The event is coming up again in February and it sounds like it will keep all the goodies from the last round and throw in a few more. The tutorials are priceless and I made friends with a few other paper fetishists.

Here is my review of last year’s event to give you a taste of what the event has to offer. If there is one in your area and you have even a passing interest in either DIY or pretty paper, I highly recommend going.

A reminder that The Lovely Details Showcase is this Sunday, February 3rd from 11-3 at the Fort Mason Firehouse in San Francisco! I’ll be there demonstrating the Gocco, and there will be lots of great ideas, inspiration, and Bay Area vendors showcasing their talents. They’ve added several AWESOME vendors to the showcase list, so come get inspired! Admission is FREE! Check out their website for all the info at

See you there!
Chicago ladies– we’re in luck. There are two upcoming bridal events, both of which sound so fun. I plan on going to both and I hope to see some of you there!
There is a bridal show this weekend in Dallas sponsored by Macy’s Registry. The show is at Dallas Market Hall and will feature over 350 vendors. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 14.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to go, but it might be of some help locating vendors and getting ideas for your weddings! Don’t forget to make labels with all your pertinent info (Name, Contact Info, Wedding Date, etc.), otherwise your hand will be sore from filling things out!

Weddingbee readers KatyStardust, Cara, Miss Cherryblossom, and I were out in full force this past Sunday at the Five Star Afternoon Bridal Event at the Four Seasons San Francisco! To any of you Bay Area brides-to-be that missed it…GO NEXT YEAR. I’ll be married by then, but I’ll be there. Hopefully I’ll have an engaged friend in tow, but even if I don’t…there’s no way I’d miss it. The food and drink alone are well worth the admission fee. Here are some pictures and info!
Cara, Miss Cherryblossom, and I were the first in the door and bum rushed the makeup trial booth. Cherryblossom got a BEAUTIFUL makeup trial (a blog on it later from her!) by Amy with Jade Studio Productions.

This one’s for all my homies in the Old Pueblo. Tucson Newspapers is launching a brand new bridal magazine!

Woo hoo, local resources! And here’s the shameless plug part: yours truly wrote that “Minimum Planning…” article. I know, can you believe it? Someone actually paid me for my wordcraft. Suckaz! Anyway, you can either wait and pick up a copy in stores within a week or two, or…
What an exciting day yesterday was. First off, I met with the Best Man and his girlfriend, Mona, for a lovely brunch at Merchant. Then, Best Man left us and Mona took me to the Billion Dollar Babes Sale where they have Amsale sample dresses on sale for around 1/2 off and up to 80% off! They also have a few veils as well!

…is what you’ll be enjoying if you sign up for the Four Seasons 2008 Wedding Fair in San Francisco. Ever since I went to the one earlier this year, I couldn’t wait to go to the next one. I was in heaven, let me tell you.
