I love how in this wedding, the bridesmaids' dresses are the same color as the bride's wedding gown, just shorter. This makes me feel better about perhaps picking light pewter as the BM dress color.
Aren't the light pewter shoes darling with the cream/white dresses, or what?! I never even thought of that color combination!

Here in Chile we don’t have the “bridesmaid” tradition. Instead, there’s only a Maid of Honor, called a “Madrina”. What a bummer!! One of the really cool things about mixing traditions for the wedding is that I’m having bridesmaids!! Yay!

My bridesmaids are on the hunt for dresses! Early on I decided to have my ’maids choose their own dresses in various shades of the same color after seeing this image (above). I did this for many reasons, but most importantly I wanted them to wear a dress they loved, at a price they were comfortable with. Putting the swatch pile to good use, I sent snips of my favorite reds to them along with a few style guidelines using a Martha Stewart template. I also sent an email with a few suggestions to get them started.

Having a polka dot motif certainly opened us up to a lot of cool options for everything — from cake, to bow details, to pretty paper, to bridesmaid attire! The struggle for me has been to balance my concern about having too few polka dots versus having too many. The perfect polka dot balance is a tough one to strike.
