It took us ladies 6 hours to beautify. Meanwhile, the men enjoyed a view of the Statue of Liberty from Mr. Lobster’s hotel room:

Hello hive! I’m back with pics!! I know I’ve been away for a while but hopefully some of you remember me. And if you don’t, well, it’s nice to meet you again. So let’s get to it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The alarm barely went off and I jumped out of bed. I consider myself lucky for getting a full seven hours of restful sleep the night before the wedding. How is that? I cut myself off from “wedding planning duty” by the rehearsal and enjoyed myself through the rehearsal dinner. At 7 AM, I drew open the sun shades blinding my sisters (who slept in the king size bed with me). I was ready…to get ready. I had my blue shoes…
Hola, hive! When Pengy asked for our favorite posts, I immediately knew which one to pick. Like many brides, I wanted to have “The Moment” when I found my dress. After all, my final dress appointment was at Kleinfeld—famous for creating The Moment for hundreds of brides, as seen on the show Say Yes To The Dress. Armed with a box of tissues, waterproof mascara, and four bridesmaids, I was ready. Moment, come find me! But it didn’t. And I ended up being frustrated and undecided. I walked away from the appointment empty-handed (but only the first time!). I picked this post as a reminder for the dress-hunting brides out there—not everyone gets that instant head-over-heels feeling for the dress. Sometimes, you need just one night to sleep on it!
When I originally wrote this post I didn’t reveal the “blankety blank” part of my dress…the one shoulder. Turns out they’re popular now (one shoulder, cap sleeve, and the like, and so many cute ones!). Anyway, I still love my dress and here she is in action!
After 5 nights in Moorea, we headed off to Bora Bora for the last part of our trip. It was amazing. Everything you’d expect “paradise” to be!
Bora Bora is a one hour flight from Papeete, Tahiti, where the main airport is for French Polynesia. It’s an easy flight. Unlike Moorea, Bora Bora is a collection of smaller islands called motus. This means there aren’t roads between islands and only boat transfers, which isolates you mostly to your resort. This is *perfect* if you’re looking for true relaxation and luxury, which is exactly what the Lobsters ordered.
When you land in Bora Bora, you get off your airplane, walk about 200 feet to the other side of the airport and find your resort boat pick-up.
The first couple days of the honeymoon were pure recovery from the wedding + jet lag. By day three, we were feeling pretty good about ourselves so we booked the honeymooners’ special at the spa.
That entailed a full body massage (yes, please!) and your choice of a body wrap or scrub. I chose to get a body wrap in gardenia scented mud.
The Hilton spa was small with limited amenities. The treatments we got were great but the spa at our next resort was much more swoon-worthy. Still, worth it if you are staying there. Read more…
It took us a while to get here, but we made it. On our first day in Moorea, we toured the resort. The Hilton Moorea is a relatively small resort which is similar to the other resorts on the island. It was nestled between private residences along the main road. The resort consisted of 2 main restaurants, a small beach, overwater and land accommodations, the pool, small spa, and main lobby/hut where reception was.
Since we started our trip on a Tuesday, it felt less crowded, quiet, and serene. I found staring at these bungalows very peaceful as I lay on the beach.
We had gorgeous weather on the wedding day. I must have used up my good wedding karma because on the day we left for the honeymoon (2 days after the wedding), it rained. a lot.
And all over the airport.
Our flight to Los Angeles was delayed. It was delayed from 5:00 pm to 5:30. Delayed from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Delayed until 8:00 pm. We boarded the plane. But we didn’t actually take off until 10:00 PM to go to Los Angeles.
“Are you the honeymoon couple? You’re not going to make your connection to Tahiti.” No sh*t, Sherlock. Thanks for the update, unnamed airline. And thanks for jacking up your a/c and then charging for a blanket.
We spent our first night of our honeymoon at an LAX airport hotel and the next day waiting for the next flight to Tahiti which wasn’t until late in the day. Unfortunately, this meant losing one night at our first destination—the Hilton Moorea Lagoon & Spa. Sad face! Read more…
Then I wiped my tears away and kicked it in to high gear. I recruited Mr. Lobster and my lovely sister to help me with the rest of the stuff. They worked hard into the wee hours of the night and then the next day (and the next day).
Yes, honey, that bow is the right length (no, it’s not! redo!)
Drum roll please for the results of their hard labor:
I’m back from our faboo honeymoon in Tahiti and Bora Bora. It was wonderful. I am so happy I got to spend two full weeks with my sweetie. It is the first vacation we’ve taken alone since we got engaged last year and boy, we needed it.
Our days consisted of buffet breakfasts and a rotation of lying down—by the pool, in the pool cabana, by the beach, on our deck, on the couch, at the bar. Quite exhausting, if you ask me. But more on that later.
An afternoon game of Gin Rummy. Mr. Lobster looking very lobsterish (and sneaky) indeed in a sunburn.
Today is THE DAY. Thank you for spending the past few months with me. I’ve enjoyed our ups and downs and especially in the downs, I thank you for your encouragement. I hope you have found my posts to be honest, amusing, and maybe a touch useful for those newly planning weddings.
The last two weeks has been me stressing over menus, programs, favors, and wedding timelines, and all kinds of randomness. Finally, I’m excited. I think I’m ready. Today will be a day of craziness (I won’t get my way, let’s face it), emotions, food (FOOD!), dancing, music, being with friends and family, being with the one I chose and the one who chose me. By now, I had no more energy to be creative and do something new for the table numbers. During one of my marathon wedding internet searches, I found a template for table numbers on this blog. It is actually a whole suite of wedding details. Look at how cute the thank you favor tags are!
My days have lately been consumed by paper products, paper problems, and paper parties! I consider what I’ve gone through a tour of paper hell. Let me recap…
Menus: A Mini-win for Lobster
Last time on Lobsters Shouldn’t DIY, I had major fails with the printer when working on the menus. After taking the hive’s advice, I cleaned the print heads and did some printer maintenance. It didn’t find fix the problem. But by some miracle, the menus turned out 98% perfect. How not-so-perfect with the 2%?
The dreaded dashed line was still there. Before you think I’m crazy, I know that the dashed line isn’t noticeable. And so I carried on.
Not me, apparently. In the midst of this wedding shenanigans, I haven’t even given thought to packing for the honeymoon which is in a mere few days. No packing! From me, the girl who starts thinking of outfits 3 weeks in advance of a long weekend getaway.
“You don’t need clothes on your honeymoon! That’s the whole point!” some might say… yeah… I need clothes. Otherwise I consider it a failed vacation fashionably-speaking. Sooo…
Last night I did some impulse online shopping. Some purchases were honeymoon related and some maybe not at all. You can decide for yourself.
In truth, Mr. Lobster and I have had this planned for a few months now but I haven’t had a chance to post about it. Now that we are almost days away from the wedding and the honeymoon, the craziness is pushing me over the edge and I. Need. This. Vacation.
