I only have a limited amount of pictures from high school, as the majority of them are buried somewhere in my parents’ house, so I will have to make due with the few I had on hand. I’ve mentioned countless times in the past that Mr. Lovebird and I attended the same high school and that all of our groomsmen were our high school classmates. We were all part of the class often referred to as “Stuy2K.”

Here I am with GM Oliver at our prom, and no, he was not my date.
One can plan almost every aspect of one’s wedding day, except when it comes to speech time!

Sometime during the reception, I overheard our BM Ernie asking our MOH Tina whether she preferred to give her speech first or second. Oh man, you should have seen the look of horror/anxiety on her face. She was nervous enough, worrying about not messing up her speech, but now she was faced with the decision of going first or second.

One thing the mister and I paid special attention to was our reception playlist. We meticulously picked out each and every one of the songs we wanted played at our wedding and even burned CDs for the DJ in case he didn’t have a song on hand. Of course, we gave him the discretion to play what was on the list and when. That being said, each song we picked had special meaning to us—either it defined a moment in our seven-and-a-half year courtship (at that point) or it had special meaning to one (or more) of our guests with whom we’ve shared special moments with.
For example, I believe I’ve mentioned that all of our groomsmen were our high school classmates (go Stuy!), so we had to play “Blue” by Eiffel 65 for our GM George because we remembered he had an ungodly fascination with the song back in the day. Lo and behold, the moment the song played at our wedding, he rushed to the dance floor! You could say it was a “soundtrack to our lives.”

After what seemed like an eternity, it was finally time for us to get married! Well, it wasn’t an eternity, it was more like seven and half years after we started going out…
Okay buddy, this is it!

Now that the weather is warming up, it’s about time this little birdie got her feathery tush in gear and resumed her recaps!
I’m sure every girl thinks about what it would be like to walk down the aisle with the love their life waiting at the end of it. Well, this is how it went for me.
Man I loved the train of my dress. It was actually one of my favorite parts of the dress.

The time finally came for the wedding to start!
First up were the grandparents, unfortunately, I don’t have any professional pictures of my grandparents.
But it’s okay, I have their entrance on video.
Then it was time for Mr. Lovebird’s Mom escorted by Mr. Lovebird’s cousin, Kevin.

When we finally got the call from Gaby, our wedding coordinator, that they were ready for us, I must say, I got a little nervous. I remember walking out of my suite and thinking, I can’t believe it’s actually happening…
Man, I wish I could remember what we were laughing about here… although now I’m thinking, Tina, stop touching your boob! J/k… don’t kill me…
At the end of last year, I blogged about this interesting movie in the works called Bride Wars. Time really flies because it’s coming out soon!
Who’s excited to see this movie? I know I am!

Since I got a call from our wedding coordinator that they weren’t ready for me yet, Vincent and I snuck off to my balcony to take some bridal portraits.
So I got the most interesting call last week from Mommy Lovebird. She calls and says, “I have Daddy Lovebird on the line.” (Daddy Lovebird is in China, by the way.) So Daddy Lovebird goes, “Hi honey, how are you? We planned your wedding banquet for the 3rd.” I’m like, “What?” ::
:: Daddy Lovebird repeats himself, “We planned your wedding banquet for the 3rd… your Mom is going to fly back for it.” Then it slowly begins to hit me… “Oh… okay?”
When I first started planning our wedding, I thought I was going to have three “weddings”. My destination wedding in Cancun with my friends and family, my New York reception which would include those people who couldn’t make it to Cancun, and the sea of people that were the “friends” of my parents and family. People I probably met at one point or another in my life, but surely don’t remember the name of, and people I was sure to be meeting for the first time. You see, in Chinese culture, the wedding banquet isn’t just about the bride and groom, it’s also about the family, parents, traditions and joining of families.
When my parents were speaking to my grandparents of picking an “auspicious” date for the NY wedding banquet, Grandma Lovebird was like, “you can’t have three wedding receptions!”

Mr. Lovebird and I got engaged exactly two years ago today in Cancun. Wow…. that seems like a whole lifetime ago. It was two years ago today that Mr. Lovebird and I took the “plunge” and started a new chapter in our lives. And I sit here today, in awe of how much our life has changed since then… literally in awe… the excitement, the tragedy, the obstacles and triumphs…. basically all the joys and crap life likes to throw our way sometimes. And 11 weeks ago, THAT day finally came…

It turns out it wasn’t just the wedding party who was busy getting ready.

I remember looking out at the ceremony site at about 5PM and it was empty.

Please accept my apologies as I’ve been a bad little birdie! The very day after I posted the first recap, we closed and moved into the “Love(bird) Nest” and I’ve pretty much been running around with my head chopped off the last couple of weeks. What do you say, hive, do you forgive the little lovebird? As a token of my sincerity, I offer to you the pro-pics of the boys getting ready the day of the wedding. I believe most of these pictures were taken by our second shooter, Christian of del Sol Photography. Keep in mind I’ve known all these fellas since we were in high school, so I will take every liberty to embarrass them while I can.
It was all because of Weddingbee that I caught the DIY bug. I must give it up to my fellow bees as they have countlessly inspired and motivated me to add a personal touch to as many wedding projects as time and my abilities allowed.
After seeing so many amazing photo table numbers on Weddingbee, such as those of Mrs. Emerald, Mrs. Lovebug, and Mrs. Tiramisu to name a few, and since I had so many amazing pictures from Scott Robert’s workshop, I tried my hand at making my own table numbers.
Don’t you love how DIY projects evolve as you do them? I actually ended up not using the ribbon and paper flowers because I thought it distracted from the images.
