Down the Aisle…

September 18th, 2008 @ 2:40 pm by Miss Fondue

I knew, from the minute we got engaged, two things regarding the music: I wanted a harp and violin duo, and I wanted to walk down the aisle to my favorite video game song. Luckily, Mr. Fondue had no issues with this. After a bit of searching, we found a violinist who works with several harpists, and was willing to learn a couple songs for us.

For the wedding party processional, we are going with the standard “Canon in D”. We tried to resist it. We tried to find something else that we liked just as well but wasn’t as popular. But we failed. We just love it too much.

For my processional, we chose “Aria di Mezzo Carattere” from Final Fantasy VI. If you are familiar with the game, this is the opera piece that Celes sings when she is disguised as Maria. It’s one of the best pieces of music in a game ever, and Celes is my all-time favorite character from my all-time favorite game, so it made sense to go with this.

Music. That’s right, sweet, beautiful music for our wedding, specifically for the ceremony. You see, music is REALLY important to Mr. Lemonade and me. Our first official date was at a concert, we go out to see live music at least once a week (we do live in the Live Music Capitol of the World, after all!), and Mr. Lemonade works in the music industry managing bands. In fact, our best man and one of our groomsmen both play in one of his bands, and we’re having live music at our welcome/birthday bash. We’ll also have two live bands at our reception. We feel pretty confident about the songs and decisions we’ve thrown around for these portions of the wedding weekend, but we’re seriously laboring over the ceremony portion.

My Sister’s Music

September 5th, 2008 @ 11:29 am by Mrs. Cherry Pie

It’s hard to believe that my littlest sister, born when I was thirteen, is going to play the music for our ceremony. But as she’s grown up, she’s turned into quite the fine violinist, despite the fact that she’s still goofy.

(Striking a pose in a mini-archway at a Tokyo train station)

We asked her to be our violinist because we knew that she would play us anything we wanted, and anything she played would sound amazing. Plus, the fact that she’s my baby sister makes her contribution all the more touching and special!

For the prelude, she’s playing two pieces.
