He proposed exactly 1 year, 1 month and 6 days after our first date (it's the only part of his proposal speech that I remember), and we're planning long-distance from Los Angeles for a July wedding in my hometown of Monterey, CA. I have a passion for all things "cool, cute and quirky" and I enjoy video games, reading blogs (WeddingBee, trashy celeb, consumer & political) and crafting in my spare time, if I have any!
We took a little break from the wedding planning on the 4th and went and celebrated my parents’ (and Mr. Lemon’s parents) anniversary, and America’s b-day out in Monterey. My dad had arranged months ago to enter us into the local hometown parade, so we both drove our cars in the parade. Mr. Lemon and I painted the signs the night before and at 9am we headed into town to be in the short little parade.

As Mr. Lemon described it… “I walked into a wedding nightmare!” We sure had a bunch of things going on around the house yesterday… lots of loose ends to wrap up on projects and things to be laid out that were simply impossible to transport up in the car. But who knew that the biggest thing we’d have to manage would be the doggie park inside our house! My parents’ home is guarded by Mr. Dudley, I brought Miss Memphis with me on Friday, and my grandmother’s dog Mr. Sparky came to visit for the week on Sunday! My dad is trying his best Dog Whisperer routine, and so far it’s working… but it’s definetely tiring trying to manage all of them at once.
Mrs. Jelly Beans, OttawaAge and Occupation: 28, Pediatric Registered Nurse and full time bride to beFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Investor and very supportive groom to beEngagement Date: July 7, 2005Wedding Date: August 25, 2007Blogging Since: June 20, 2007Venue: Cathedral Ceremony and Rooftop Tent ReceptionHoneymoon: ItalyAbout Me: I have been in wedding planning mode since Mr. Jelly Beans popped the question almost two years ago. I am a very dorky and sentimental person. I love laughing and living life alongside my husband-to-be. We have been in a long distance relationship for over 6 years - he is in California and I am presently in Canada, so you can imagine how excited we both are for our upcoming wedding.
We have hit the one month mark. Yikes! I really have to step up on crossing off things on my to-do list. I have been feverishly running wedding errands, scheduling meetings, and trying to complete projects on all my days off.
Mr. Jelly Beans was supposed to have arrived last week, but due to some unforseen circumstances, he will not be arriving until next week. Aside from receiving the bad news, I had to scramble and reschedule all our wedding appointments.
Here is our agenda when he arrives:
Thursday:
Miss Jelly Beans awaits eagerly at the airport for the arrival of her favorite Bean
Friday:
Marriage License (I am so excited for this moment- I anticipate a much needed photo op)
Minto Suite Viewing (Again, for Mr Jelly Beans viewing pleasure)
Get Mr. Jelly Beans measured for his tux
Submit groomsmen measurements
Meeting with Msgr Powers at the Notre Dame (90 minutes)

I am having a great time with all of my DIY projects and can't wait to share them with all of the WeddingBee Readers (some have to wait until after our wedding)! Other favorites include: cooking, running, tennis, knitting and making crafts. Mr. Raspberry and I also have two dogs - Gewurz, a 2 year old
yellow lab and Stella, a 1 year old old cock-a poo.
With just over two weeks to go, I actually am pretty calm (I know, shocker!).
We only have a couple of DIY projects left, and this past weekend we drove up to NY for my sister’s graduation and took almost all of the wedding crap with us, including the gifts for everyone who is helping with anything. While we were at home, we also got our marriage license, so here we are - we can officially get married in the State of NY!!!

Graduation….. check.
Moving out of apartment… almost a check.
Getting married…. only 17 days away?!!?!?!?!??!?!?!!?
Somehow I really thought getting married three weeks after graduation wouldn’t be “that” crazy… and once again I completely underestimated the strain and P.I.T.A. moving out of an apartment can be. (You’d think I’d remember with 10+ moves in 9 years.)
Mrs. Bluebell, New YorkAge and Occupation in 07: 26, Finance ManagerFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Playing with the cat and/or ConsultingEngagement Date: December 25, 2005Wedding Date: June 2007Venue: Bride's family summer home in the AdirondacksAbout Me: Trying to find the perfect balance between family tradition (marrying at the house everyone else in my family gets married at), making our's modern, interesting and different from everyone else in my family's, and incorporating some Chinese tradition for my Chinese fiance. I really have no idea what it's going to end up looking like!
Also, I picked Miss Bluebell for my name because I have blue eyes and I'm a loser like that.
Today is my last day of work before the wedding!! Tonight we’ll finish packing and then tomorrow morning we’re driving up to the Adirondacks for the week before the wedding!
We still have a million things left to do, but it’s starting to really feel manageable, which, um, is GOOD!

A friend of mine posted this real bride’s wedding countdown calendar on her blog, and I thought it was too cute not to share. If this is from your blog, please let us know so we can give you credit.

It really gives you an idea of how busy and stressed out brides can get in the month leading up to the big day. Does your wedding countdown calendar look like this?
Mrs. Tomato, Napa ValleyAge and Occupation: 25, Technology Project ManagerFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, EngineerEngagement Date: October 22, 2006Wedding Date: July 1, 2007Blogging Since: May 1, 2006Venue: Auberge du Soleil About Me: I love all things beautiful. From handmade stationery, feminine fashion and delicate flowers to the little moments in your life treasured with your loved one. I am also notorious among my friends to be a deal hunter! My best deal was perhaps my Monique Lhuillier dress for $1100 (orig. $5000). I also tend to use a lot of exclamation marks! =)
The week before my final dress fitting, my meals consist of:
-Fried chicken cutlet
-Fried calamari
-Chicken fingers, fried zucchini
-All you can eat buffet. Granted I could have stayed at the salad bar, but hello! who can suppress the baked goods and sweets?
-Hamburger and fries
-Pizza, pizza and pizza
-Boston Cream Pie
-Cheesecake
Why do I have no self control?! I blame it on Mr.Tomato (okay okay, I was the one who wanted fried calamari and the Boston Cream Pie…and the cheesecake…).
Thanks to Miss Corn’s recent post, I’m jumping on the Spanx bandwagon. Hopefully my fitting this Friday won’t be completely disastrous! (last time the alterations lady actually poked a little fun at the “pudge” aka my stomach).

We are planning our wedding at a unique city venue for about 75 close family members and friends. I have a lot of DIY ideas and I like to blog about ways to save money on your wedding.
My parents arrived from Chicago yesterday and we did so many things to prepare for our big day! I’ll be back next week for recap of our wedding!

I’m getting married! In 8 1/2 hours, I’ll be Mrs. Hoops.
So, hmm…where did I leave off?
Wed. night bachelorette party was a BLAST. It was really wonderful–Katie, Stefanie, Mandi, Jess and Claire–my 5 best friends from high school. It was a night of unwinding and chilling with these wonderful girls down on the Plaza (yay! I did get to go back!). Oh, and penis straws, penis pencils, penis pins….yeah, you know the drill.
I only have a few pictures since my camera died early on, but…
Stefanie and I linked arms to drink our Blue Moons:

I woke up at 8:30 am. Before I did anything else–showered or ate my Raisin Bran, I was going to do a few things: ~Finish flower girl headdress/crown thingies ~Cut up the blue tulle for the reception ~Type up everyone’s ‘to-do’ lists.
~Glue together the elevated cake plates
~Fix the bows on my and Katie’s bouquets, and add ribbon to the boutonnieres ~Finish those damned luminaries (Mr. Blueberry’s doing it!)
Things I cannot *believe* I let wait this long, and are now taking my valuable time away from me. Guys: Don’t push off easy little projects until the last minute, it really isn’t worth it. But it’s gotta be done, and I don’t see anyone else clamoring for the job .
::Edit::
Shit. Just realized I forgot to buy the stuff for our day-of emergency kits. Who wants to run to Target for me?
::Edit Edit:: And the tulle for chair backs. And some wedding-appropriate wrapping paper. And two lighters. And bags for the flower girls’ gifts.

I admit, these past few hours I haven’t accomplished a whole lot…not that you can really see, anyway.
As soon as I finished my second batch of brownies, Dad came home and offered to take us to Strouds. If you’re not in KC, well, you’re missing out. Best fried chicken in town. Of course, since I have a gorgeous gown to fit into, I had broiled salmon. But everyone else seemed to enjoy the fried chicken!
As soon as we got back home, Mr. Blueberry and I dashed to Wal-Mart and picked up a couple last minute items: corkscrews/bottle openers for the self-serve bar, votives for the fireplace arrangement and tealights for the centerpieces.
When we got back to the house, I saw Julie’s car in the driveway. She had tights for three of the flower girls, and wanted my approval on outfits for her family to wear at the rehearsal dinner. She said I was the most laid-back bride she’d encountered…HA! Fooled her, didn’t I?

As soon as I left earlier, my aunt arrived. She finished the table runners for me, then cleaned up the kitchen.
I then baked a ’sample’ version of the groom’s cake, to make sure that the fudge recipe tasted OK and that the springform pan idea worked. It was also my first time using one of those cake decorating icing bags, and while I was just *trying* to drizzle thin lines of icing on top, it really came out looking a bit, well…see for yourself:
The error was, I forgot to close the top of the icing bag, so it just started glopping out the sides.

My wedding is the day after the day after tomorrow. How does that feel?
I’m sort of excited, and sort of nervous. But that’s not my overwhelming emotion. Neither, really, is anxiety. My biggest concern, at this point, is getting all my little projects done and organized so that the things I must delegate to others (pretty much everything on the big day) will be perfect. And this is definitely my biggest mental obstacle. I am *not* one for outsourcing. And if I could somehow manage to be the one setting up the buffet tables, tying bows on the seat backs and making sure the day runs smoothly, I would be. Alas, I can’t do anything but *trust* the wonderful people who I’ve hired and who just love me, to do things right while I float around in my big white dress. Read more…
