About Mrs. Husky

The ceremony was over, and we made our way to the side yard.

It had been our intention to have a sort of informal receiving line in the side yard between the ceremony site and the happy hour area. Unfortunately, this was not announced at the end of the ceremony, and I think most guests were confused and just headed straight to happy hour.

From this moment forward, I promise to give my best efforts to being the best husband I can be.

I promise to make you soup when you are sick.

To eat hot peppers with you when you quit smoking. [Mr. Husky & I quit smoking together, over 4 years ago, by setting our mouths on fire with the hottest peppers we could find any time we had a craving. Turns out, a cigarette is the last thing you want with a mouth full of fire.]

First Day of Our Lives: Vino Amore

December 15th, 2010 @ 7:07 pm by Mrs. Husky

The time had come for our Wine Box Ceremony. Officiant/FIL Husky introduced the concept:

Mr. Husky and Miss Husky are very thoughtful and serious about marriage. Mr. Husky told me “They weren’t all good times. I am under no illusion that our relationship will always be easy, but I know that it will always be worth it. We had one particular rough patch that ended with our first trip to Austin. It was during that trip that I realized Miss Husky was the one for me, but it took me another 3 years to propose.

About Mrs. Husky

Choosing my old-new-borrowed-blue items was one of the easiest decisions I made throughout the entire wedding planning process. There were too many new things to count (but I would count my dress), and the old, borrowed, and blue were all rolled up into one beautiful piece of jewelry:

First Day of Our Lives: Stand By Me

The processional music was nearing the crescendo where my entrance would be made. It was time to go:

As I attempted to show in my ceremony layout diagram, the tree was the starting point, so our aisle walk went from behind the tree, around the platform, and then to the top of the aisle. The walk down the aisle itself was quite short, but getting there took a bit longer. I made my way around the platform, and continued my walk down the aisle:

First Day of Our Lives: Hot B*tches

December 7th, 2010 @ 3:55 pm by Mrs. Husky

My alarm went off at 7AM Saturday morning. The girls would be arriving for beautification around 8, and though I had written my letter to Mr. Husky, I still needed to pen the final copy on some nice paper. Even as I finished up the letter, my eyes brimmed with emotion. This was it! Today was the day I would marry the man even my dreams had never dreamed of.

First Day of Our Lives: Hot B*tches : wedding denver pictures recap 1 1

As I’m sure you’ll soon realize, Mr. H and I decided not to have a photographer with us as we got ready, for a couple of reasons. For one, I felt the morning of the wedding would be a very special time with my closest friends and family. It felt like a very intimate event, and the thought of having the photographer there didn’t quite feel comfortable to me.

About Mrs. Husky

I left off with a near-crisis with the food. Now let’s skip forward a few hours. Several cars headed down south to the property, and we began as much setup as we were able. Mr. Husky and his crew would be coming down a couple of hours later, bringing the trailer full of the items to be set up by the guys—tents, bar, etc.

The chairs were arranged according to the half-moon diagram. Haybale covers were in place. Some tables were set up, but most were waiting for the tents—it would be easier to set up the tents if the tables weren’t right in the middle of them. Some were in the kitchen, working on our mussel shooters and entree garnishes:

About Mrs. Husky

The only reason I am able to write these next several posts is because I know how it all ends. Have you ever read a book that is just so sad all the way through that you almost want to quit reading it? Because you’re just so afraid of how it ends? But then once you’ve finished it, you recommend it to your sister and tell her to just keep reading through the tears—it’s worth it? That’s sort of how I feel about the day before our wedding. While it wasn’t sadness, it was a whole bucket full of bad luck. Allow me to set the scene:

About Mrs. Husky

For months, I worked on the music for our wedding day. I spent hours putting together my perfectly crafted playlists for various times throughout the day, before the band would start. I searched through my entire music library, and I found online recommendations for “love songs” of all different genres that could appeal to the many different generations represented at our wedding.

A Pool Shot Shoot

October 26th, 2010 @ 10:59 am by Mrs. Husky

We had our engagement photos done about a week before our wedding. You may be inclined to ask, “What’s the point?” I wouldn’t blame you, because I asked the same thing. But I had been hearing murmurs on the boards about how engagement shoots really helped some of you feel comfortable with a) being the focal point of the camera, and b) your photographer. I contacted our photographer, and we decided to go for it. But it seemed silly to pose in front of his camera, when we hired him for his ability to capture the moments. So we wanted to center the shoot around something other than the two of us smiling into the lens.
