SSSSSsssssssssss… can you hear that? It’s the fat melting off my body, as I type!
Well, that may be an exaggeration, but I am very pleased to say that after 1 short week of my Flab to Fab Plan, I’m really noticing some differences in my body and my energy levels, and I’m down 4 pounds. To be fair, that 4 pounds was probably mostly water and holiday weight… but my face is slightly slimmer, my upper ribcage is feeling smaller, and my jeans are much more comfortable in the waist. I wish I’d gotten measurements before starting, but I remedied that by having Tiger measure me on Saturday. The most exciting part of it all? I had fun, and still managed to fit margaritas, pizza and queso into my diet!
THE WORKOUTS:
1 hour training with Tiger - Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.
Long walks/hikes Monday, Wednesday.
Mr. Meatball has been coming with me to my personal training sessions with Tiger, which is really fun and a good way for us to blow off some steam together. Being unemployed in a tiny house together with only one computer makes for some major tension build-up, so not only do the sessions work as “personal training” but they also have acted a bit as couples therapy, which we really enjoy.
All four times we’ve met with Tiger so far, the routine is different and unique.

Living in Los Angeles, I have chosen to share space with an endless train of vegetarians, vegans, “I only eat organic” types, fresh fruit worshippers, and just about any and all other healthy food-centric groups that could possibly exist on the face of this planet. I’m in awe of the self-discipline of healthy eaters. I really am. And that’s why it makes me even more ashamed to admit this, but here it goes. {Deep breath}

This is going to be one of the hardest things I’ve ever posted about myself on here. As you all (may) know, I’m a plus-sized girl. A couple of weeks ago, I asked for a push from you guys, and so many of you offered great advice and tips that I’m slowly incorporating into my lifestyle. I appreciate it so much!
Weight loss has always been hard for me.

When I first blogged about my fitness situation, I was feeling quite confident that the exercise I was doing would be enough and that I would not have to alter my diet. Well, that was before the holidays, and now all of the delicious food and desserts that I scarfed down are catching up with me! Since our wedding is now 5 months away, I am starting to freak out a bit. Okay, a lot.
I have an enormous sweet tooth (Miss Taffy, indeed!) and a serious love for ice cream. This is not helpful! I am finally deciding to make some alterations in order to keep some sweet stuff in my diet. A “this versus that” game, if you will.
I would love to eat this:

“Add a memorable touch to your wedding with unique favors that match your theme.”
I mentioned the other day that I have a few New Year’s resolutions that I feel compelled to tackle before the wedding. I call these my wed-solutions! My biggest wed-solution this year is one I’d still put on my list even if I weren’t getting married in less than 5 months, but I doubt I’d approach it with such determination and focus without the specter of my wedding dress hovering constantly in my mind.
That’s right, it’s the fitness, y’all! My goal is to become a triple-S: Slim, Straight, and Strong, in time for the wedding and in a way that will be maintainable as a lifestyle for years to come. I want to be super-fine in 2009! Welcome to my journey from Flab to FAB! Won’t you join me?
I know I am not alone in this quest. I see your bloggy resolutions echo mine, I hear your need for healthful change, and I am ready to share my experience as I climb the hill of transformation. It may not always be pretty, and it definitely won’t be easy… but I’m taking this opportunity to not only get in shape before the wedding, but to also address (and put to rest) some long-lived life issues that I do not wish to carry forward into married life.

Um, oh ma ga.

This stuff, with a little (soy)milk and sweetener of your choice (I used stevia), is my new diet secret. At 2 boxes for $5 right now, I swear I will cut you if you get in my way at the market as I hastily hoarde every. last. box.

I must confess, I’m a bit health-obsessed these days. I’ve only got 5 months ’til the big day, and I have to be honest: I haven’t Shredded It since starting my new job. It was so much easier when I was semi-unemployed and could wake up and leisurely work out before getting on with my day. But adjusting my schedule to wake up early (especially with the frigid mornings) isn’t happening, and after work I have so much other stuff to do, that working out falls to the wayside. So, yep, I’ve been a naughty bride, and Jillian Michaels is probably sticking pins into my voodoo metabolism doll.

For all you gals concerned about health, fitness, sex and relationships, if you haven’t checked out Fit After Thirty (f.a.t.), hie ye to their site and bookmark away!

Don’t be fooled by the title; this blog is an amazing resource for women of all ages, and provides informative solutions for making fitness part of your everyday life. Sure, that’s helpful, but what makes this site rawk so hard are the fun, sassy writers. From entries as straightforward as “20 worst foods” to articles called “Turn your Vagina into a Vice Grip” they have an irreverent sense of humor and so-wrong-it’s-right honesty that befits this bride quite nicely. Not a bride? Not to worry, they’ve got sections for f.a.t. singles, f.a.t. couples, f.a.t. moms, and f.a.t. friends too.

I’m so frustrated with myself that I just want to curl into a ball and cry. Like I mentioned earlier, I had a plan. A good, solid weight loss plan. When I started packing and moving to where I’ll be living when I become a Mrs., I stopped caring as much about what I ate and made excuses, any excuses, to avoid workouts.

As of Thanksgiving Day, I was **almost** 20 lbs. higher than my lowest weight when I was hardcore dieting last summer. I’m so disappointed that I let myself go this much! I’m almost back to my original college graduation weight.
The worst part is, it’s the holiday season! I am forcing myself to Shred again today, but how will I resist the holiday food?

I hate working out.
Unfortunately I have to do a PT (physical training) test every 6 months to stay employed. My confession: The last two tests I did, I was TOTALLY out of shape (aka did not work out at all)! And while I did pass, I was practically hyperventilating and struggling to stay alive. Now that turkey day is out of the way, I’m on a mission to get in shape, not only for wedding day (which is 3 months away! Yikes!) but for myself and my next PT test. Having a wedding in Hawaii not only means the standard, “feel good in dress”, but it also means “feel good in swim suit”.
I’ve been really watching my weight and working really hard to get in shape and lose the post-smoking weight. A while ago I concocted a little program for myself built on tons of research I’d done online and with nutritionists. I work out (almost) everyday and restrict my calories. The restricting of the calories has been pretty easy for me, as I have relied on prepackaged meals (the horrors!) for lunch and dinner about 5 times a week. Think I’ve been having fancy meals delivered? Think again my friends.

For the past week, I’ve been getting the Zone diet delivered through Zone Manhattan. I wanted to lose a couple of pounds, and frankly, eating is a chore during the week since I don’t cook at all anymore and order in for every meal. The prospect of not having to think about food was very enticing. Plus BIL Bee lost 30 pounds in two months on Zone last year — check out his amazing results here!
Each delivery consists of breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2 snacks that follow the 40% carbs, 40% protein, and 30% fat ratios. I always wondered what the food tasted like, so I’ve photographed 2 days worth of food below. This diet is tailored to my weight, activity level (I do weights 2x a week and cardio 2x a week), and desired weight loss goal. Mr. Bee, who’s doing this with me, gets a lot more food than I do.

Breakfast: 2 whole wheat pancakes (slightly smaller than the palm of my hand) with roasted bartlett pears, raspberries, turkey bacon and cottage cheese; Snack #1: Cubes of cheese with apples, grapes, celery and carrots

Disclaimer: I am not a Doctor, Nutritionist, or anything of the kind. I am just a former chubby girl who figured out a system that worked for her. I share this system with you in hopes that you might figure out something for yourself as well.
Looking through pictures of myself on Facebook is an interesting experience. I start off looking pretty foxy (if I do say so myself) as a high school graduate, but slowly a change starts to creep up on me.
Here I am as a hot little 18 year old.
You see, I gained the Freshman 15.
Except in my case it turned into the College 50.

Before we left for Italy, I vowed that I would eat Roman gelato every single day. It wasn’t a difficult promise to keep.

I blogged about our trip and sent out the link to family and friends so they could read about our adventures and see all of the photos we took. You may have realized by now how much this avocado loves photography, and I become a little crazy when I can combine it with my other love, food. While on this trip I attempted to take pictures of every single thing we ate, which left me with an almost equal number of photos of Roman relics and squisito cibo (delicious food).
