Miss Magnolia, AtlantaAge and Occupation: 28, Public Affairs and Government RelationsFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, LobbyistEngagement Date: December 1, 2006Wedding Date: January, 2008Blogging Since: September 6, 2007Venue: catherdral ceremony/private club receptionAbout Me: Mr. Magnolia and I are thrilled to be planning an evening, winter wedding for 200 people in Atlanta. We both work in politics and share a love of University of Georgia football, pop culture, and good food! I'm a runner who adores wedding magazines, bad reality television, and a
good glass of wine. Most of the time I like to think I'm pretty organized, but between wedding planning, house hunting, and a full-time job, I'm being put to the test!
Mrs. Jasmine, Chicago/LAAge and Occupation: 25, AttorneyFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, AttorneyEngagement Date: March 24, 2007Wedding Date: June 7, 2008Blogging Since: September 20, 2007Venue: Hotel on the westside of Los AngelesAbout Me: I'm a happy-go-lucky, imaginative spirit trapped in the body of a lawyer. I love reading, shopping, dining out, and exploring my beloved adopted city of Chicago with my fiance. We're planning the wedding of our dreams in my hometown of Los Angeles and we're excited to incorporate our cherished Indian/Pakistani customs and traditions.
I’m going to backtrack a little while I wait for our professional pictures to come back…
In May, Mr. Jasmine and I met our valima photographer, Laurie Tennent, in Millenium Park. My mother-in-law wanted to create a photo guestbook for the valima and she asked us to take some engagement photos with Laurie. We met Laurie in the park on a *ridiculously* cold day for May. I was all bundled up in a black coat which I threw off to take pics and would throw back on between shots. I felt very much like a ANTM contestant
I’ve featured some of my favorite shots below. Laurie was such a joy to work with and I think she really captured our personalities. I would definitely recommend her to any Michigan area brides looking for a photographer! Read more…

When we first met in college we split dollar pitchers and now we share the mortgage payments. Despite our love for the city we are looking forward to tying the knot in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
Now that you know our photographers, onto the engagement picture discussion! We’re having them taken in 3 weeks, which is a huge “holy s@#$!!” in my world. We scheduled the session back in February, when June seemed like such a long time away…and here we are. How is it possible that it’s June?! When I looked at my calendar last week and realized the pics were fast approaching, I also realized I have nothing to wear. But I did have a jcrew gift card in my wallet…

I eat sushi at least 3 times a week, and feel guilty about how much it costs the other 4 days a week. I love designer jeans and cheap accessories. I don't like sweets, but I love the UCLA Bruins!
Why do you have so many freaking pictures of yourself?
Answer: I dunno. And I have no idea what I’m going to do with all the pictures. But these turned out wonderful! I was going to forgo engagement pics altogether because I thought they were strange….which is why I put it off until 3 months before our wedding. But actually seeing them come to life has changed my mind. Of course, what to do with them now? Who knows. Here’s our session with our faboo photographer, Sarah K. Chen! I can’t wait to reunite with her at the wedding!
I’ll refrain from having a one way conversation with myself now and move on to the pictures…

The disc for our first engagement photo session has arrived and it is AWESOME! Travis has this amazing ability to really get people to come out of their shells. Granted, it doesn’t take me much to come out of my shell (and apparently, within 5 minutes, flash my panties at you) but Mr. Penguin is quite the shy guy, and Travis’ incredibly happy and positive attitude really warmed Mr. Penguin up quite quickly. Here’s some highlights from the day:

I went to school to study Magazine Journalism, ended up with a second major in Japanese language, and now work at a company that makes software for libraries. I love writing, computers, photography, and the great outdoors. I spend most of my time playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band or geeking out online with Mr. Cherry Pie. I'm happiest when I'm on the road, especially traveling abroad, or just nesting quietly at home with my sweetie, who is a fabulous cook and bakes a delicious rendition of a certain cherry-filled dessert!
We started our shoot with Nicole Tavenner of Piknik studios midday at Mr. Cherry Pie’s family cabin on Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park. The first photos we took to loosen up were on the front porch of the guest cabin. I look so fresh and Mr. CP looks so cautious!

I had many amazing professors while I was attending Carnegie Mellon, one of whom was photography professor, Charlee Brodsky. After graduating we worked together on the School of Design’s newsletter, Re:View. Working with Charlee is always a wonderful experience. During our 8 months working on Re:View I lived in 4 homes with 5 different cats, a dog, several goldfish, and 4 different roommates. Also, I ran Mr Pineapple’s car into a curb, followed by getting my first pair of glasses, and my first fiance. Charlee was there though it all and we got to know each other very well. Read more…

Boo yah - our slideshow is up baby!!! Thanks to Scott Robert who feverishly worked until the wee hours of the morning to pound that shiet out for me within the week!! It was either that or he would have had me refreshing every half hour on the dot and attacking him via email.
Gotta give him major props for the slideshow and all the photos because I was a wee bit concerned about how we would be captured on camera, naturally and as ourselves…. but it was captured amazingly.
We totally got lucky because both Scott and Bandele Zuberi were in town for one of Scott’s workshops, so we held them hostage. I mean, hung out with them all day exploring the city. The only thing more perfect I could have wished for was way less cooooold BRRR weather.

I’m nothing short of obsessed with wedding planning, and am loving the do-it-yourself madness that has now taken over my life! As for me, I’m a craft-loving, martini-drinking, girly-girl who loves traveling, photography, my schnauzer, and above all, spending time with Mr. Tiramisu.
Way back in November, before I was a bee, I was getting my daily (ok, maybe more like three to four times at least) dose of weddingbee when I noticed an ad for free engagement photography in Washington, DC in the classified section. We hadn’t yet decided if engagement photos were going to fit into our budget, so I couldn’t believe how perfect of an opportunity it was. I replied just as fast as I could (they said it was in under three minutes!), and was thrilled to receive a quick response saying that we were one of the lucky three couples to win a free engagement session!
Girls With Big Cameras is a Washington, DC based company run by three friends- Claire, Grace, and Loun-Loun (aka L2) with a passion for photography. We met up with Claire and Grace on Sunday, and they were kind enough to travel here to Annapolis for our shoot- and even let us bring our schnauzer, Duncan, along. Mr. Tiramisu and I had no idea what to expect, so we were very relieved when we found out how awesome both girls were at making us feel comfortable in front of a lens, setting us up for shots without making us feel posed, and scouting out some great locations in our familiar surroundings. Here’s a sneak peek at our shoot:
