Review: Wedding Dash 2

December 29th, 2008 @ 8:15 am by Ms Fondue

One of the gifts I received from my brother and his girlfriend for Christmas was a game called Wedding Dash 2. I’d never played the first one, but if you’ve played any of the Dash series of games, then this one is fairly similar.

You play as Quinn, a top wedding planner. She is competing to have the honor of planning a very exclusive wedding. She travels to many different places to plan weddings for each leg of the competition.

She first receives a letter from the bride and groom. This letter will give some brief ideas of the theme of the wedding.

Pre-Wedding Activity: The Photo Hunt

June 12th, 2007 @ 1:25 pm by Mrs. Tomato

This past weekend, I celebrated Mr. Tomato’s birthday by throwing him a surprise party. He’s never had a surprise party before, so he was indeed surprised! His face was of complete utter shock when he opened the door and a huge group of friends popped out. I couldn’t stop grinning. It was priceless. Pre-Wedding Activity: The Photo Hunt : wedding games napa valley Laughin012 laughin012

I had planned out a photo hunt activity, and divided the teams so that everyone at least knew one other person in their group but could meet some new faces, too (it’s my plan for seating arrangements at the wedding reception as well).

The photo hunt was a big hit, and to my pleasant surprise it also turned out to be a pre-wedding mixer. Everyone that attended Mr.Tomato’s party happens to be coming to our Napa wedding as well, and I didn’t realize until afterwards that since a lot of our friends don’t know each other yet, it was a chance for them to be introduced and mingle before the big day. If you’re having a wedding celebration that spans over the course of a few days, this could be an idea to consider. Bridal Shower Winnings!

May 7th, 2007 @ 1:00 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

Yesterday I went to a bridal shower for a bride I don’t know very well (I asked you previously what gift to give her), and as I sat with people I’d never met before, I felt a little awkward. Sure, going around the room introducing ourselves and how we met the bride helped, but I must say I forgot most of the names, only managing to keep their relation to the bride straight.

It was a very fun shower, about two minutes from Knott’s Berry Farm (my FMIL and I seriously considered ditching the party and going on some rides!), with plenty of places to shop nearby. There was a bevy of games, from the “How well do you know the bride and groom?” to a game that was a cleaning product version of Mad Libs - you must fill in the blanks with a cleaning product. The bride’s grandmother thought of this game, and man, all of us who were under 60 had a hard time of it - most of these products weren’t even made anymore!

Amazingly, I won the game and a super cool spa gift set. Of course, when Mr. Kiwi came home and heard I won a cleaning product game, he laughed in my face. Hey, just because I don’t clean, it doesn’t mean I don’t know there are things that are USED for it! Also amazingly, I tied with the bride’s best friend for how well we know the couple. How the heck did that happen? Sitting amongst friends and family of the bride, how did I know more than they did?

My Mii + Your Mii = Wii!

May 4th, 2007 @ 4:53 pm by Mrs. Lemon

I’m not sure if I got the equation right… but in any case in honor of the weekend (and Miss Snow Pea mentioning her boxing workout) I wanted to see if any of your Miis wanted to wander over to my Wii and play! I know there are many avid gamers here on WeddingBee, and many are big Nintendo fans. My “Mii Parade” is pretty lonely, and I’d love to see some Bee Mii’s on my Wii. [If you're lost by now... I'm really really sorry]

Friend codes, however, aren’t a one way street… we both have to add each other for the connection to be made. So there are no worries about your Wii being hacked in some strange way by posting it here. And if you don’t want to post it, you can always just register me and I’ll get a Wii message asking if I want to be your friend.

Perhaps you’d like to beat my Mii at tennis, or spar in the boxing ring… either way I’d like to play against some new names and faces and we’ll be getting a good workout!

My friend code is:
4903 7337 2599 8962

I’d love to have wedding planning/video game pals. :) Maybe next we can collect DS codes and have massive WeddingBee MarioKart races!

Dream Day Wedding

February 23rd, 2007 @ 4:12 pm by Mrs. Bee

Jessica sent us a link to this puzzle game called Dream Day Wedding. I downloaded and played a bit of the free version. In the first level, you have to find wedding related items hidden throughout a room within the allotted time. I found them all, but I must admit it was a little hard! The graphics are good, and the items are well hidden.

Something to keep you entertained this Friday afternoon. :)

The Dollar Dance - Yes? or No?

January 3rd, 2007 @ 11:45 pm by Mrs. Raspberry

With roots stemming from the early part of the 20th century, the dollar dance has long been a traditional part of both Polish and Italian weddings. Today this has grown into a much anticipated ritual with brides and grooms of many cultures, but has also become a question of etiquette.

I have been thinking about whether or not to include this in our wedding. I haven’t been to a recent wedding where it was included, yet we have had several of our guests ask if we will be doing it. They think it is a fun way to spend a couple of minutes with the bride or groom on such a busy day.

I have a serious problem with asking people to give us more money - especially to dance with us - when they are already travelling (several of them) and sending beautiful gifts!

Please help - I am totally torn!

Wedding Games

December 20th, 2006 @ 9:34 am by Mrs. Apple

My sister incorporated some playful games into her wedding reception a few years back and I must say it was definitely an entertaining night. She had the usual games like “The Garter Toss” where the groom would go under the bride’s wedding dress and retrieve the garter by using his mouth. But she also had another rather risque game called “Egg in the Pants” where the groom stood on a chair and the bride inserted a hard boiled egg into the bottom of his left trouser leg. She used her hands to move the hard boiled egg up and across to the right side of his trousers. She had to be really careful or else his pants would end up smelling like foul eggs. My brother in law’s face was quite red after that game (maybe you should first consult with your future hubby about this). Some of my younger family members had a good laugh but my older family members were gasping in horror.

Another common wedding game is the “Cherry Kiss” when a third party hangs a cherry in between the groom and bride and they both have to take a bite of the cherry. This would end up in the eventual lip locking of the bride and groom with maybe even some tongue!

Mr. Apple and I have not decided on whether we want to have games in our wedding - his family is very conservative and would probably fall out of their chairs. Later in the evening they would probably comment about it, saying something along the lines of “What was that weirdness going on?”

Will you be having games as a part of your wedding reception?

Final Round - Best Bridal Shower Game

October 9th, 2006 @ 12:35 pm by Contests

These are the finalists in the best bridal shower games contest - thanks to everyone who entered! :) Now it’s time to vote for your favorite game, and the winner will get a $50 gift certificate to Wedding Favorites!

Entry #1 - Tina

One game I set up for my sister-in-law’s shower was called Race for the Ring… I bought several packs of girls’ party favor plastic rings in all different colors and hid them all around the rooms we were holding the shower in. I also bought a pack of these mega-huge plastic diamond rings (the “diamond” was the size of a golf ball, and it sparkled!).

As guests arrived, they were let loose to find rings and place them on their fingers. The mega diamonds were worth 5 rings each, and the girl with the most rings at the end was the winner. Imagine around 20 women in their mid to late 20s running all around the room, fighting for rings, screaming “there’s a big one!” and everyone flocking to the hiding place… it was hilarious!

Entry #2 - Jennifer

It’s not really a game, more of an activity I guess, but the shower I threw really seemed to enjoy it. Ahead of time, I asked the bride’s fiance for 24 reasons that he loved her. Then I bought 2 dozen roses (to be used as the centerpiece on the food table, I love cutting costs!) and tied a small piece of paper to each rose in a matching color so it didn’t stand out too much.

At the end of the shower, I grabbed the vase, handed it to her, and told her that it was her fiance’s time to shine. She was confused because she didn’t even see the paper, so she was suprised! She sat down and read them one by one. Some were funny (you bought me my favorite Star Wars movie) and some were sweet (you are the most beautiful girl I know).

I thought this one was cool because it gave all the girls an intimate look into their relationship while reminding all of us why we were really there to celebrate!

Entry #3 - Joy

For one of my college friends, the maid of honor wrote out “The Story of Jes and Jim” (bride and groom) and turned it into a madlib. We were all given sheets to fill out adjectives, nouns, verbs, etc. Afterwards, we took turns reading our completed stories. It was a lot of fun because we all tried to guess how the story would go and put in adjectives we thought were appropriate (they were both on the crew team, so there were a lot of rowing references) but were so far off.

Entry #4 - Jennifer

I threw a bridal shower for my FSIL this past Febuary that was a hit. Out of the 4 games we played, the fav among everyone was the Wedding Cake game. Each table was a group (about 5 guests) they were given a pound cake, some edible glitter, cake decor, icing and all the good fixings. They were given 10 mintues to create the best wedding cake, of which the bride chose!! The guests along with the bride had a great time..and the guests still talk about it and have used since then!

Entry #5 - The future Mrs. G.

Last night was my bridal shower and my friends planned a great game for me. I am not much of a lingerie person and I told the women planning the party that I’m a “white cotton undies” kinda girl. On the evite they asked each person coming (and even those that weren’t) to provide a quote and I would have to guess who said what. When I got there they pulled out a “wedding cake” made up of white boxes shaped like slices of cake. Each box had a different pair of undies on which the hosts had artfully written the quotes. Not only was it fun and funny trying to guess who said what, (my sister said “Give me back my shirt!” ¢â€š¬‹Å“cuz I’m always stealing her clothes) but I got to take home 24 pairs of white cotton undies!

Get a Shiek poster (or any other poster with a fugly body, kekeke, shiek was popular at the time). Paste a picture of the groom’s face on body. Blindfold girls one @ a time, spin her & have her walk towards the poster & place lip sticker on the poster. Closest one to the grooms lips wins (fairly simple & fun).

Entry #3 - Connie

Buy leis - one per girl (or anything the girls can pin on themselves, maybe peepee pins depending on the shower). Rule: no one can say the bride’s or groom’s name. If you do, the person that catches you gets to take your lei. The person with the most leis @ the end of the day, wins a prize.

Bridal Shower Games & Themes

October 5th, 2006 @ 9:08 am by Mrs. Ladybug

Question:
I need bridal shower games/ themes. Something different other than the ones we would find by googling. ~ Lynn

Excellent question! I think the most popular game is the toilet paper wedding dress. When my sister had her bridal shower, all my sisters and I were on separate teams and my mother was the judge. When it came time to picking the winning team we were all yelling out “Who’s your favorite mom!?” “Mom! Don’t forget who goes with you to your doctor appointments!” “Who got you the gift certificate at Talbots mom?!”"Mom who bought you that outfit you’re wearing?! Pick me! Pick me!” Haha… She didn’t pick my team so I took back her gift certificate from Talbots. Just kidding.

::Pass The Parsnip::
One of the games that we played that day was Pass the Parsnip. Omigod, that game was so funny. We were all cracking up. We had 4 teams and each team had a parsnip. When the music played you had to pass the parsnip around but only using your knees. Each time the music stopped they cut off an inch of the parsnip. The reason it was so funny was because each time the parsnip got cut down shorter, it got harder to hold with your knees so it got to the point where we were all groping each other just to get a good grip. The last team standing who didn’t drop the parsnip earned a gift. If you can’t find parsnips then pick a vegetable that’s long and thick……*dirty laugh* No not your vibrator! Omigod that would be so funny! Pass the Vibrator hahahaha with it on! Hahaha…. Ok I have a dirty mind we all know that by now! It’s no secret!

Best Bridal Shower Game Round 5

October 2nd, 2006 @ 1:43 pm by Mrs. Bee

Entry #1 - Stacia

My aunts surprised me with a hilarious shower game. Stated in the invitation was for each guest to bring their pjs in a brown paper bag. As each guest arrived, one of my aunts collected the bags and put a number in black marker on the outside.

When the game began, each guest was given a piece of paper with everyone’s name on it. My aunts grabbed bag #1 and pulled the pjs out. Each guest had to guess whose pjs they were, and put that number next to their name. The game was hilarious. And to make it even more funnier, my grandmother in law had newspaper in her bag! She really got the party started! Everyone thought that was mine!

It’s a really great ice breaker to bring two different families together and have a great time!

Entry #2 - * YuMMie *

If it’s a ladies only shower, you ask the groom-to-be beforehand all these Q’s about the bride-to-be and then on the shower day, you ask the bride-to-be the same Q’s to see if they match the guy’s answers. Q’s can be funny and embarrassing so it’s a good laugh. To make it better, the bridesmaids can video tape the groom-to-be answering the Q’s, so it would be funny to watch. :)

Entry #3 - Christina

This one is great for bigger showers where the gift opening gets really old fast. A bridal shower I went to this past summer had shower-gift BINGO. The bridesmaids had printed out BINGO cards with random items from the registries. As the bride opened each gift, you would mark down if you had it on your BINGO card. This was particularly amusing because (a) the BINGO slots were VERY specific. So as my friend would open tupperware, for example, the guests would be yelling out “Is that the 32-item set or the 64? Square or round? WHAT COLOR LIDS!!!???” (you have NEVER seen people more interested in shower gifts, hehe) and (b) you could discuss at your table how you had completely screwed yourself from winning because your particular BINGO was filled with items you had just bought the bride for her wedding gift, so you knew she wasn’t getting them at the shower.

Bridal Shower Games Round 4

September 30th, 2006 @ 1:40 pm by Mrs. Bee

Entry #1 - Mindy

I don’t know the purpose of this game, but at my first bridal shower that my aunts gave me we played this. There was a large bowl of uncooked rice and a bunch of safety pins (closed) dumped in. Each person takes a turn being blindfolded and then they have a minute to dig out as many safety pins as they can. It sounds like it would be easy but it is hard! It’s crazy how you can’t tell what is rice and what is a safety pin! I only got 2 in 1 minute.

Entry #2 - Katerose

Before my bridal shower, my bridesmaids asked me for 20 pictures of my fiance and I in different locations. I included everything from right after he proposed, to favorite date nights, to vacations and holidays. They shrunk all the pictures down so each girl had all the pictures on her piece of paper, and had to guess where my fiance and I were in each one. They had to look in the background of each picture for clues. It was a big hit and a fun way to get to share some of our favorite memories with the women at the shower.
