About Me: I'm a shopping junkie who lives to discover great deals and a craft addict that loves to scrapbook and knit. My profile picture was taken on the day I got engaged which is why my smile is so huge!
I’ve always thought that the sign of a healthy relationship is a couple that’s stronger when they’re together than they are individually. There’s something about being with Mr. Eggplant that brings out the best in me and challenges me to grow. I like to think that the theme of our relationship can be wrapped up in two words (and coincidentally one song by Jack Johnson): Better together.
Mr. Eggplant and I want to carry out the “better together” theme throughout our wedding, and to honor our this, I plan to display at our reception a scrapbook that I made Mr. Eggplant for Christmas along with other momentos of our relationship. The scrapbook is titled “better together” and each page has a black & white picture of us, a few embellishments, plus a verse or two of Jack Johnson’s song.
I thought I’d share the project with you all since it’s quick and easy and would make a great bridesmaid gift or present for your S.O./hubby. I know that Mr. Eggplant loved it. He even told me it was his favorite present ever.

Mrs. Kiwi, Los Angeles
Age and Occupation in 06: 27, Bookkeeper
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, P.E. Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA
Engagement Date: March 31, 2006
Wedding Date: November 3, 2007
Venue: Radisson Hotel
About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!
My matron of honor is my future sister in law. After dating Mr. Kiwi for almost four years I’ve gotten to know her pretty well. She’s a stay-at-home mother of two, a psych major with a fireman husband who is rarely home. Because of his schedule, she’s often overwhelmed with the kids, one four and the other six. So Mr. Kiwi and I have decided to give her the gift of our company. Ha ha. Really, we were hoping to give them some “couple” time by taking the kids off her hands for a few nights. Amazingly, she didn’t want this.
The fact that she doesn’t want the average BM/MOH gifts of jewelry and pashminas has me stumped about what to give her. I know she’s tired a lot, and needs a little bit of “me” time, so I wanted to give her spa stuff, some bath & body goodies and a bottle of wine, maybe a robe. Well, according to MOH, she has no time for stuff like that. In fact, she finally used a manicure gift certificate from two years ago.
You know people ask, “What do you get the person who has everything?” Well, what do you get for the person who wants nothing? As much as my cheap ass would love to get her a big bag of nada, that would totally suck. She’s my family and I love her, and want to get her something useful.
What would you give someone in this situation?

I’ve noticed a lot of couples are going to Walt Disney World for their honeymoons (lucky ducks). Now those couples have a cool book to take with them to the Magic Kingdom.
The people behind the Zagat Surveys have come up with the “Zagat Walt Disney World Insider’s Guide” .

“Whether you want to dine with a princess, go sightseeing with a mouse, or sleep in the atmosphere of a legendary Disney film, Zagat can help you plan a magical vacation. This essential guide leads you to the best restaurants, nightspots, hotels, shops, and attractions at Walt Disney World - where dreams really do come true!”

About Me: My FI and I met online, but we like to tell people that we met at a "cookie shop" which is the technical location of our first encounter. He proposed exactly 1 year, 1 month and 6 days after our first date (it's the only part of his proposal speech that I remember), and we're planning long-distance from Los Angeles for a July wedding in my hometown of Monterey, CA. I have a passion for all things "cool, cute and quirky" and I enjoy video games, reading blogs (WeddingBee, trashy celeb, consumer & political) and crafting in my spare time, if I have any!
Williams-Sonoma has some great personalized gifts that might be fun as gifts for your kitchen showers!

Mr. Kiwi and I are jam packed with wedding stuff. Other people’s wedding stuff! We have a wedding (in our venue) this Saturday and then I have a bridal shower to go to the week after that. I’m a little stumped as to what to bring to the shower as a gift- a girly present, something off their registry, or something off their honeymoon registry?
Of course, I could always give money, but do you give money for the shower when you’re going to be giving money for the actual wedding? Mr. Kiwi is a groomsman (we were finally told this), so what’s the protocol?

I’m obsessed with Philosophy’s 3-in-1 flavored shower gels, and over the years I think I’ve enjoyed almost every flavor out there! They make great gifts, but at $16/each, they can be a bit pricey as casual gifts.

About Me: I live in New York but I'm planning a destination wedding in Negril, Jamaica. My fiance and I are high school sweethearts!
You’ve been invited to a wedding for a couple who lives in NYC. They already have everything they could ever want… or more than they can fit into their tiny apartment.
or… You have a bridesmaid or groomsman who hails from “The City.” They’re very particular/ spoiled/ hard to please. (Blame it on living in a shopper’s paradise.)
What do you get them?? .. Here are some ideas!
TICKETS TO A MUSICAL
I just saw “In The Heights” this past weekend with Mr. Ant and we both loooved it! It’s a high-energy musical with a rich score that’s packed with salsa, merengue, and hiphop elements.

This flower photocuff would make an adorable gift for your flowergirl! She’ll love that it’s a flower for the flower girl, and it’ll have her picture inside.
Even more perfect for those of you using green and pink in your color schemes. Made of vegan leather, it’s $17 at Smoy.

Wedding Date: May 25, 2007
Venue: Wynbrick Center - a historic mansion in my hometown.
About Me: We're having an intimate, 125-ish person wedding with a full-blown dessert reception. When I'm not obsessing over wedding stuff or studying for my BA in English, I'm usually playing with our two kitty cats, blogging, doing crafty things, or hanging out with Mr. Blueberry!
Lately I’ve been thinking about what to give Mr. Blueberry for the wedding. Like so many other brides, I want his gift to be romantic, yet practical. Sentimental, yet not embarrassing.
I’ve tossed around a few ideas… cufflinks? He didn’t really express any interest in those. Money clip? Too groomsman-ish. Wristwatch? He doesn’t like things on his wrists, and I already gave him a pocket watch (which he loves). All my other gift ideas are more “birthday” or “Christmas,” not really “wedding.” (And he reads this, so I’m not listing those ideas here :P).
Maybe we’ll just forego the wedding day gifts to each other. Hey, it’ll save money. Or, we can exchange gifts sometime other than the “bridesmaid delivers it 15 minutes before the ceremony begins” thing. That will give us more freedom as to what we can give–it won’t necessarily have to be something small for him to wear on his person, and can reflect his personality more :).
What did you give/are you giving your FI for the wedding?
