I have extra boxes on hand since I ordered boxes in quantity for our wedding invitations, so I decided to use some for the Valentines Card Exchange! I’m glad I made these, because I learned a lot of logistical things for my future invites, like the postage is flat rate per ounce (no matter where it goes in the country), and also that you need TONS of candy for these suckers!
I quilled some hearts with little love quotes on the inside… kind of like fortunes, only, you know, not fortunes. So actually, not like fortunes at all. I gocco’ed a card, gocco’ed the box tops, filled the boxes with Conversation Hearts candy, tied them with twine, and shipped them off. The whole thing is a complete ripoff of Mrs. Gummibear’s invitations. And guess what? My invitations will be too. I laugh in the face of originality.

This post is long overdue, but I wanted to make sure all my guest received their invitations before writing about them. Before weddingbee, I never thought in a million years that I would “gocco” my invites. I remember emailing my bridesmaids this gocco post when it came out last February, which got them all excited. Then, my super-talented bridesmaid, Michelle graciously offered to design and help make my invitations! Without her, none of this would have been possible.
My first task: get a gocco! In August, I had bid for and won one off ebay as a pure impulse buy.

I printed up one part of my newly designed invitation (YES this is my third time redoing them) so I thought I’d take a moment and clear up a few big Gocco questions that people always have.
1. “The paper for my invitations are larger than the print area on my Gocco. Will I be able to print in a larger area than 3.5″x5″?
Yes. I think some people tend to forget that although your paper size may be large, your printing size may not be as large. And even if you’re printing a larger area than 3.5″ by 5″, often times the image can be broken up into pieces and seamlessly stamped together, if you are very meticulous with lining up images. Take for example my invitation, that is 5″x6″ (the cardstock I printed on was actually 5″x7″ but I’ll trim an inch off of one side):

It’s here! It’s here! After many months of waiting (more on THAT below), I finally have a new Gocco in hand!
I have wanted one of these babies since reading about them in the very first issue of Craft magazine. At the time, though, the company had stopped making Goccos, and even if you picked up a used version there was no guarantee of future supplies. I’ve already seen the supply chain cut off for one of my hobbies, and the resulting feeding frenzy was a pricey nightmare. Plus, the expense was hard to justify for just a hobby….

Since Mr. Peppermint & I received an espresso machine off our registry (!), we’ve had boundless energy to stay up all hours and Gocco the night away. The programs, perhaps, have been my favorite project to date!
At first we weren’t even sure if we needed programs–neither of our parents had them for their wedding and didn’t see why we needed them. This meant that Mr. Peppermint and I knew that we had to be economical about it. We decided to do them on a single sheet of paper (despite my love of the many beautiful booklets I’ve seen!!). We bought paper from paper source and began making them… they took about two nights (double sided and since we have the smaller Gocco PG5, we needed to do at least 2 screens per side), and it was surprisingly fun and therapeutic!
Here are some of them drying (they took over half our apartment!):
I have a confession to make: I had my most bridezilla moment (at least to date… knock on wood!). I suppose it’s good to have gotten it out of the way, but nonetheless, there was a bit of a debacle last weekend…
It all started out very innocently. Mr. Peppermint and I were gocco-ing our Thank You cards. We agreed we wanted to get that out of the way so we’d be ready to fill them out in time. We had talked about a design and settled on what we wanted. Since Palm Springs (and the surrounding areas) is so special to us and he proposed in Joshua Tree National Park, we decided that we’d like a simple drawing of a Joshua Tree on the front. Inside we planned on text that would read “Thank You” in the top left, and “Mr. & Mrs. Peppermint” in the bottom right. Easy. We spent Friday night and Saturday morning making them and were really happy with the results.
Here is our view of Joshua Tree National Forrest:

When Mr. P & I decided to get the Gocco (or shall I say: when I convinced him that I needed to have a Gocco), I promised that I would use it all the time. And since I’m a girl of my word, I just HAD to find another excuse.Meet my bridesmaids luncheon invites:
My first Gocco tutorial
After our wedding, I was exhausted and didn’t want to do with anything related to paper or DIYing. I think you could call it post-wedding burnout or papercrafting intoxication; it was pretty bad that I threw away most of my paper supplies to relieve the stress. I was fine for a few days… then after a few weeks I started developing withdrawal symptoms where I wanted to create something. My hands were restless, trembling, and I felt the sweat pouring… And that’s when I bought a freakin’ Gocco machine on Etsy. I gotta thank the weddingbees Mrs. Bee, Mrs. Lemon and Miss Penguin for making me fall for this obsession.
