A Different Kind of Guest Book

June 26th, 2008 @ 12:34 pm by Mrs. Cupcake

Over the last 16 months of wedding planning (sheesh!), I have come across a lot of ideas for guest books, but none of them has really struck my fancy. I’ve seen engagement photo guest books, wish bowls, wish trees, and Polaroid guest books, but I wanted to do something a little different. (One of the curses of doing too much research!)Last month in the Spring issue of Inside Weddings, I came across a twist on the traditional guest book that I really liked:

Please Mr. Postman

June 20th, 2008 @ 4:26 pm by Mrs. Cherry Pie

About the time I first started reading wedding blogs, I saw an inspiration board on Snippet & Ink called “A Little Bit Country” that made my heart beat a little bit faster. It wasn’t the color scheme, or even the overall similarity of the ambiance to my own country wedding. It was the image in the second row, third from the left. A vintage mailbox featured on Grapevine weddings to showcase their invitations:

I was absolutely smitten.

The Forgotten Guest Book

June 16th, 2008 @ 3:08 pm by Mrs. Cookie

Source

While scrounging around for some unmemorable item a few years ago in the basement of my father’s house, I came across my parents’ guest book from their wedding in the back of a hallway closet. The thick layer of dust that caked the cover confirmed my suspicion — the book had not seen the light of day in over thirty years. As I flipped through the pages and pages of names, I was surprised to recognize a majority of the names — many of whom were relatives or friends of my parents. Also, I found a list of the wedding presents my parents had received, along with my mother’s handwritten notes about thank you cards.

Enough, Already!

June 9th, 2008 @ 3:15 pm by Mrs. Sundae

I’ve learned a lot about myself through the wedding planning process. One of the most glaring lessons being, I am a glutton for punishment. I think I’ve made a decision and then I keep looking, and keep looking, and keep looking, almost inviting something better to come along that I just have to have. The escort cards were one of those things.

Before I became completely sick of myself, I made a decision. We’re going with the wishing rock idea where each card will have a black river rock next to it. There will be a sign on the table asking guests to please make a wish on their respective rock and then place it in a large glass container we will keep in our house afterwards. As if I were getting a nod of approval for finally making a decision, I found this in the sale section of PotteryBarn when I started looking for said large glass container:

Adesso Photo Guestbook

May 22nd, 2008 @ 12:55 pm by Mrs. Penguin

Adesso Albums are a really convenient and clean way for you to instantly set up a Polaroid Guestbook. People have been in a frenzy lately since Polaroid announced that they were going to stop producing Polaroid instant film (they’ve already stopped producing the cameras) but as of now, the film is still readily available on websites such as Amazon.com and Staples.com. So if you’re getting married soon, Polaroid is still a viable option for you, and best of all, with its extinction it becomes a great novelty for you to look back on over the years to come!

Sketchbook Guestbook

May 22nd, 2008 @ 10:30 am by Mrs. Pineapple

I have been stumbling along the internet trying to think of a creative guest book. There are a lot of good and popular ideas that I like, such as the photo book, photo booth, wish tree/stones but I just can’t decide on one that will be simple, cheap and easy for my guests to “get.”

One idea I am kicking around is to do a Sketchbook Guest Book. I have always loved sketchbooks, since my days in art school. So many little pieces of art in one place.

Photo-Stripping at the Reception

May 16th, 2008 @ 11:03 am by Mrs. Candy Corn

Phew, the photo booth rental has officially been taken care of! Apart from the whole getting married and spending a day with our closest friends and family thing, this is the part that I’m most looking forward to! After dinner, there will be an attendant guiding guests to the photo booth, where they can take endless photos from 8-10pm. The fancy schmancy attendant takes the printout of the photos (the machine prints two 2×3 strips on one page), cuts one off for the guest, and places the other in our scrapbook so the guests can sign next to their photos and voila!

How great would this be in lieu of a guest book at a bird themed wedding? Or any wedding really! It’s from Room Service Home, and I think it’s so cute!
