About Me: I’m a Southern Girl marrying a Midwestern Boy, planning our Southern winter wedding from Manhattan. I love paper, photography, hand-sanitizer, high ceilings, colored pencils, brunch, and Frosted Mini-Wheats. If I could, I would hand-write everything, travel without a map, stare at diamonds all day long, don my favorite stilettos to the supermarket, play with the NY Philharmonic, attach a Karaoke system to my car, and run 3 miles at 6 AM every morning. Mr. Blush and our families mean the world to me, and I can not wait to share our wedding preparations with you!
I wanted to get my makeup done for our e-pics.

So I looked to Weddingbee and found Ai. Ai did Mrs. Snow Pea’s makeup for her wedding, and I loved it! I sent Ai a few pictures of what I was looking for - she went through all the pictures and really tried to understand what I wanted. After a few emails and phone calls later, I met Ai for the first time on the morning of our e-pics.
I can’t believe I’m putting a picture of my naked face for all the world to see- but here it is in all its “save me! you could have at least put some blush (hehe) on!” glory.

Remember my headpiece idea?
I bought simple headbands at H&M - 2 for $3.90 - and just glue-gunned my headpieces right on!

About Me: I'm the stereotypical girl who enjoys sewing, baking, and decorating. I am blessed to share my life with Mr. Spring Roll and our two shih tzu's, Isabella and Gabriella. Hello Kitty, musicals, Target, and Chick-fil-a are a few of my favorite things. I have a fear of fish and Freddy Krueger. Planning our wedding has become a huge part of my life, and I love every minute of it!
As previously mentioned, I was torn between several hairpiece options. I’ve narrowed down my selections and have decided, like many fellow bees and brides alike, to be a two veil/hairpiece bride. I plan to wear a lace veil for the ceremony, then switch over to a flower hairpin for the reception. I fell hard for a beautiful ivory silk flower hairpin from Hair Comes the Bride.

I came across these beautiful Japanese hair pieces by etsy seller AtelierKanawa. Her work speaks for itself.

About Me: I’m a girl who is crazy about Mr. Taffy, sewing, dancing, almost all types of sweets, and our cute pet canaries. I dislike touching fuzzy fabric of any kind, eating somewhat squishy food, and Michigan winters. Mr. Taffy and I are having a blast planning our Ann Arbor wedding, and cannot wait to share our day with friends and family.
Thanks for all of your votes on the engagement shoot sweater poll from last week! I took your advice quite literally—I chose the tea green sweater and wore a black tank top underneath, creating a 70% to 30% ratio of green to black!
Here’s a picture after hair & makeup. (Let’s work backwards, shall we?)

Once I had my wardrobe figured out, I headed to the city of Hamtramck (a small city within the limits of Detroit, where I first met Mr. Taffy!) to see my amazing hairdresser, Sandy Kramer. Her shop, Barberella, is seriously the cutest, girliest hair salon that I have ever seen.

I’m not a veil or tiara kind-of-a-gal. It’s just not my cup of tea. I’m a hair flower kind-of-a-gal. And while I did ponder the thought of putting a real flower in my hair, I came across etsy seller, myrakim of Twigs and Honey.

About Me: I’m your average computer geek marrying a gaming geek and trying to find a good balance of elegance and geek chic in our wedding. I adore The Sims, Nintendo, cosplay, (good) music, TiVo, theme parks, and our two crazy felines.
I did a ton of research when I looked for someone to tackle my hair and makeup for the day of the wedding. Just when I thought I might schedule a trial with someone, I would find someone who I liked the sound of even better. Finally, I decided upon Whitney Lowe of Faces by Whitney. She was just getting started in the business, but came recommended by our photographer. Whitney had done our photographer’s hair and make-up for her vow renewal, and they had worked together on a couple photo shoots as well.

Many bees have gone for the post wedding chop. Mrs. Toucan, Mrs. Radish, Mrs. Snow Pea… the list goes on and on!
Last night I was explaining the post wedding chop concept to Mr. Taffy, and his take on the idea had me laughing all night! I told him that I am thinking about going for the post wedding chop, and was also explaining that I am considering becoming a two veil bride, one long veil and one short veil. His response:
Why wait until after the wedding day to chop, when you can just get the haircut before the reception?
I thought having a long veil and a short veil in the same day would be dramatic, but Mr. Taffy has taken the idea to a whole new level! Can you imagine having your hair cut in between the ceremony and reception? I suppose you could pull it off if you had enough time between, but it still seems crazy. I will be sticking with the long veil - short veil plan myself! Mr. Taffy will have to wait.
Have you ever heard of a bride actually doing the post wedding chop, post ceremony?

Requisite before shot, I think I like this look even better.
When it came to having my hair and make-up done for the wedding, I had a plan, a good one, but no back-up. So, when it came to the hair trial, I was really hoping things would go well.

About Me: Mr. Flip Flop and I are both huge Disney fans and we actually met while working at Walt Disney World on the college program. Six years later, we're tying the knot (where else?) at WDW. We're having a Disney wedding with close friends and family, a reception in Napa for my family and another reception back here in Ohio for his family. Three wedding receptions in two months? No problem! When I'm not planning our celebrations I'm usually playing Wii or doing other craft projects, although my favorite thing to do is curl up with a huge bowl of popcorn and watch old movies.
I had a hair + makeup run through with Anna from Makeover Majic recently. The trial was $100, which is a little steep, but I had heard wonderful things about Anna from other Disney brides and I figured the trial run was well worth the investment.
Here are the inspiration photos I brought:
