When I decided to do a guestbook bench for our wedding, I never expected how happy I’d be with the end result. It’s so personal, so sentimental, that I fall more in love with it every time I lay eyes on it. Let’s bring it back to the beginning, when I enlisted my bridesmaids to join me in a group girl-power project. Read more…

One of my favorite parts of any wedding is the dessert. I love checking out the cake, and seeing what other kinds of goodies we have in store for us. Our own wedding was no exception. In fact, the first thing I did after we cut the cake was make myself a s’more, then go back for another slice of cake! It’s a win-win, you know.

This is going to be my favorite post of all time! There’s just something about detail shots that speaks to my soul. I think it’s that they fully express all the creativity and individuality of the couple and their wedding. For me, I poured my heart and soul into every last craft project, and it’s such a rewarding feeling to see it all look so beautiful in photographs. So, here we go!
Right when you walked into the Pavilion, you were greeted with our killer programs in these vibrant buckets. This also served as our guestbook table, and a place to feature Mr. SD’s boot.

Mmmmm….this was a pretty day. The sun was setting, the shadows were long, and a rogue helper decided to carve a heart in our ceremony tree. I had no idea he’d done it until afterward, when people pointed it out. I have to admit, even though it’s not the most environmentally friendly thing to do, I love looking at pictures of it, and secretly wish I had thought of it. We all lined up, and the music began to play.

I interrupt this recap program to tell you some great news…
I GOT MY PWC! And I love it! It’s the best haircut I’ve ever had. I feel so sassy, especially with my glasses. My contacts have been really irritating lately, so I figured, why not just change up the whole look? I’m a brand new woman! Here’s a little refresher of what I looked like pre-wedding: Read more…

Getting everyone together was like herding cats. If you’re choosing to run your own show, I’d definitely recommend walking everyone through it a couple of times beforehand. I had planned to, then we ran out of time. This was one more minute of craziness, which isn’t exactly ideal right before you’re exchanging vows. But, oh well, it’s all water under the bridge. While we were organizing, guests were making use of our program fans. Read more…

I swear I’m not a narcissist. I just had too many cute photos to tack on to the end of the bridesmaid post, I promise! Once we took all the girl pictures together, it was time to take a few of just the bride. We started with a little focus on my butterfly bouquet. I’m thrilled with how it all looked, and the pictures really make all the colors pop!

Let’s give the boys a haaaaa-aayeeeeyaaand! Okay, moving on now. While the ladies were inside prettying up, the boys were outside cracking open a bottle of champagne.
It’s too bad I broke all but one champagne flute in the move. Before you get too concerned, they were from Wally World, so I’m sure it wouldn’t be too hard to replace ’em. I’m just not a huge fan of champagne, so it’s not really on my radar at the moment. After the fellas had their jollies, it was time for what was dubbed the “Flying V”. Read more…

Well, it’s time! Our disk of pro pics came, and I’m so excited to be able to share my recaps with you all! With over 800 images to choose from, I’ve never had such a hard time choosing which pictures are prettiest! I love love LOVE our photographer, Scott V. of The Pros and RSVP Studios. I 100% endorse their work and highly recommend them. OK, so enough with the gushing, let’s get to the pictures already!
So you all heard about what a madhouse setting up the site was. So when we got to the house I immediately poured myself a glass of wine, drained it, then poured another to sip on. No need getting tipsy before the big show! I then jumped into the shower, so Bestie C could blow out my hair and start styling it.
All my girls started putting on their makeup, finishing up their hair, and putting on their pretty black dresses. Read more…

Well, I’m still waiting on my pro pictures disk, but I just can’t wait any longer…I have to at least post a teaser! Our online gallery is up, and though it’s protected where you can’t save the images to your desktop, I took low res screenshots with my computer to make a Polyvore set. Don’t you just love modern technology? I thought it would be fun to do a comparison of the inspiration set and photos from the real thing! So here it goes:

OK, so maybe that’s an exaggeration. It wasn’t 100% bad, just maybe around 81%. I want to start with a disclaimer. I do not blame the weather on Carnival. In fact, I don’t even blame the closed ports on Carnival. What I (and apparently, 2800 guests according to their Facebook, which may be an exaggeration) am upset about, is the fact that our captain decided to stick with the original itinerary, despite evidence that five other Carnival cruise ships changed theirs to reflect the weather threats of Matthew and Nicole. In fact, some changed routes the day before Nicole hit Jamaica. So congrats to you, lucky cruisers! You missed out on all the crazy adventure.
Things started out great. We boarded the ship bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, looking forward to a week of relaxation. Buh-bye stress! (Ha, yeah right!) Read more…

So I was a little off on when the photographer’s disk would arrive. It looks like it’ll be another few days. So in the meantime, I figured I’d share my Real Bee Budget! Let’s see just how far a teeny tiny budget can get you. I used WeddingWire for our guest list and budget, so I’ll itemize the same way they do (which is alphabetically). Here we go!
The Sand Dollar Wedding Budget
Band - $500
We decided to keep the initial budget, and gave $250 each to my best bud Will and his guitarist. They were great, the music was amazing and we got to play some selections from our iPod playlist. I’m happy with how it all turned out.
Cake and Desserts - $20
The Rice Krispies cake took six batches of treats. That’s about 3 giant boxes and six bags of marshmallows (which I bought for a buck each). The groom’s cake (which turned out spectacular, let me tell you!) was free. His mom bought all the ingredients and her good friend who’s a baker made and delivered the cake. It totally knocked our socks off. I have three life-size candy fish in my freezer. I’m not quite sure what I plan to do with these, but maybe a fun photo op is in our future!

Before we get down to the nitty gritty of recaps, I have a little something special for ya. It’s the rest of the pics from my boudoir session with Suzy Min! Hooray! I don’t think I’ve mentioned enough times that I’m giddy with how great these photos are. She did an amazing job, and Mr. SD was floored. He’s demanding that we get some printed for bedroom art, and has already shown some to his buddies. Gotta love a man who makes you feel pretty. So, let’s break ’em out, guns a-blazin!

Well… I’m back! We just got home from the honeymoon, and are both enjoying the gorgeous fall weather doing what we love. I’m playing on the internet on our back porch (planning on adding daiquiris into the mix later this evening!) and the mister is doing his best to take home Bambi’s daddy in the woods. He was so kind as to inform me that he planned the wedding date to be the weekend prior to opening season. So now every anniversary will be a sort of “last hurrah” before I lose him for hunting season. Isn’t he a such sweetie pie? Whatevs. Read more…
