I am an island girl at heart and I visit the beach as often as I can. I am a wannabe DIY goddess, but that doesn’t mean I won’t give it my best shot. We are having a seated dinner for our guests, so we had to come up with a way to designate a way for the servers to know who was eating steak and who was eating fish. I didn’t really like the formality of place settings that much, since we were going for a laid-back feel at the beach, but I figured it was the best way to identify people to the waitstaff.
After tracking down the people that didn’t send their response cards back (that’s a brand new stamp on that response card, y’all!) to find out what they wanted to eat, I was able to do a little research on some cute place settings.
I knew I had seen a really cute picture where the bride had used these mini wooden clothespins to hold the place setting onto the napkin. Somehow I didn’t save said picture in any of my many inspiration folders that I have. Fail.

After talking about the whole shacking up deal, I got to thinking about one of the main reasons we started living together.
Mr. PF is from Austin and I’m from San Antonio and we met somewhere in between. I ended up moving to Austin first to be with him, but we didn’t live in the same abode. After living in Austin for about a year or so, I realized that I really missed being home and I told Mr. PF that I would be moving back to San Antonio at the end of my lease.
It’s funny because I didn’t really think about it as leaving him, but I thought of it more as going home to be with my family. Since Mr. PF couldn’t resist my charms, he surprised me by telling me that he wanted to move with me! Read more…

Mr. PF and I have been living together for three out of the five years of our relationship. I can honestly say that when we first moved in together, I didn’t have marriage anywhere on my mind.
I know a lot of people have rules about at least being engaged before they move in with their man, but a lot of my friends were living with their guys and I didn’t really see anything wrong with it. At the time, it was the right thing for us to do. We were both relocating from Austin and it just didn’t make sense for us to be in a serious relationship and living in separate spots in a new city.
I was chatting with one of my friends the other day and she was telling me about how she and her fiance have never lived together and how she feels like she is doing something wrong. She had been getting a lot of bad feedback about how she will be in for a rude awakening when they start living together, but I actually really admire the way she is going about things. She and her FI love each other very much and they obviously know that marriage is hard, but they are confident in their love to make it through the hard times whether they have lived together before or not.
Back in the day, that’s the way people did things. Read more…

This is my aunt’s gorgeous mantilla veil that she so kindly donated to me for the wedding. The only minor problem was that awesome hat it was attached to.
Well, we ended up finding someone to detach the hat at sew the lace onto the veil. Ready to see it?

Now that we are about two months away from the wedding, the reality of how much we are spending is finally starting to sink it.
Eight months ago, $2500 did seem so bad for photography. Now that we have to pay it, I’m in full-on freak-out mode.
My parents have been very gracious and have offered to pay for most of the wedding, but even though it’s someone else’s money, I can’t help but think of all the other things we could use it on.
Most people I have asked have been in favor of having the wedding of our dreams. After all, it only happens once, right? Read more…

After the party it’s the after-party, right? The after-party is something that I have been torn about during the whole planning process. At my best friend’s wedding, the groom’s parents rented a party bus for after the wedding, and let me tell you, it was SO. MUCH. FUN.
Here we are on the party bus. It came complete with a fully stocked bar and there may or may not have been a stripper pole. The only thing I didn’t like about the party bus was that the bride and groom weren’t there. I’m sure they were tired and wanted to get back to their hotel room, but it would have been really fun to have them there with us. Read more…

Wedding planning is one of the greatest times in our lives. We are busy running errands with all our bridesmaids every weekend, there are champagne brunches in our honor, and non-stop fun. But what happens when your bridesmaids, your bestest friends, live more than two hours away from you? You do that shit alone. Except maybe the party thing—I haven’t thrown a party for myself in my honor… yet.
I’m sure a lot of us are in the same situation. Read more…

I absolutely love the look of burlap incorporated into the decor at weddings. It has been the object of my inspiration affection for months now. Since we are four months away from the wedding, details like these are finally starting to come into play.
But burlap on the beach? Can it be done? To me, burlap has a really rustic, country feel to it and I tried Googlin’ pictures of weddings on the beach that had burlap, but I didn’t come up with anything as striking as these pictures…

That’s right, bees. My wonderful, lovely, ever-so-perfect dress doesn’t fit!
I went to my first fitting this weekend and we did get it to zip, but it’s soooooo tight around my booty. Most people try and lose weight for their wedding, but I gained some! Who does that?
Lucky for me, I’m participating in a three month personal training program.
The best part about the plan is that they’ve planned out all my meals for me on my Google Calendar, which takes out all the guesswork on my part. I don’t know about y’all, but that’s where I’m really clueless. They’ve also gave me several different workouts to choose from so I don’t get bored.
OK, now without further ado, the before pictures: (after further consideration, I decided not to post a picture in my sports bra…You’re welcome) Read more…

I know that the name change topic has been greatly discussed many times here, but I wanted to get the hive’s opinion on my situation.
Mr. PF is Caucasian, with a very Caucasian last name, and I am Hispanic with a very Hispanic last name. I always figured I would take my husband’s last name, but I only recently started considering keeping my name. I know that just because you change your last name it doesn’t mean that you are losing any part of your culture, but to me it sorta feels that way. I almost feel like I am denying a part of who I am and who I have been for 25 years.
I know that changing my name isn’t going to completely change who I am. A rose is still a rose, right? But our cultural differences has made this a difficult decision for me. Read more…

One of the best things about this time in our lives is that more than likely, some of our friends are getting married, too. I had the pleasure of going to a friend’s wedding last weekend and had to struggle through the age old question of what to wear.

Dollar Tree is probably one of my favorite places to shop. It’s like the Disneyland of dollar stores! They have so much glassware that’s totally awesome, and it got me thinking…after getting a proposal from our venue on floral centerpieces, I was way less than impressed.

I really want something that is going to tie the whole wedding together and leave everyone thinking… “That was the best wedding EVER”. I know for sure I want it to be upbeat and something we can all dance to, so I am turning to the Hive to help me decide!
I have narrowed down my choices to these three songs. Read more…
