When we last left off I shared with you a few of my wedding week woes and how we managed to get through them. Unfortunately, they weren’t the last of issues we ran into. Some were easy enough to take care of while others took a lot more patience and were more of a struggle.

Truth be told our wedding week was not without a dilemma or two (or three or four), but we managed to hold our chins up and truck on through. Because wedding planning isn’t always about the good I want to share some of the bad and how a bad thing can turn into something wonderful. So, here are some of our dilemmas and how we conquered them with dignity.
The Bad: My back-up hairdresser never got back to me.
Boy oh boy was I stressed…I had a week and a half to go before the wedding and had no plan.
The Good: Mr. L is awesome and saved the day.
He knew I was stressing and put in the effort at his pre-wedding haircut appointment. He was able to talk the salon manager into stepping in with such short notice and was even able to convince her to squeeze in a trial.

As you may have guessed from my last post as a Miss, the week (days, and hours too) before the wedding were a wee bit hectic. As I had mentioned, our apartment looked like a bomb stuffed full of crafty goodness went off and took no mercy on any corner.
The left corner of our apartment living room looked like this:

Those five words are my worst enemy. To say we’re cutting it close would be an understatement. I’m actually writing this post on my phone en route to our rehearsal…our rehearsal that was set to start at 4:15. Our ETA? Exactly one hour later (eeeeek!!).
Ah well, I’ll just roll with the punches. So what if my very irresponsible brothers get there before me? This wedding is happening and it’s happening soon. Here I am, a year older, and getting married the day after my 26th birthday! It’s so hard to believe that our day is finally here. Months ago(heck, even weeks ago) Mr. L kept telling me that we had plenty of time and that, “yes, that project can wait until tomorrow.”
Well, we may have thought we had many more tomorrows because this week was chaotic to the max. Our apartment has been swallowed whole by anything and everything wedding and literally looks like a bomb went off.
I have the great pictures to prove it too, and promise that post-wedding I will have many last minute projects to share with you all.
Until then, I’m here writing my last post to you as a Miss! Wish me luck!!

For a while I’ve been up in the air about what I wanted to wear as my wedding day jewelry. I love bold, over-the-top-pieces and swoon over statement pieces like this one:
But, I have two problems: 1) I have a short stubby neck that doesn’t look pretty in bold/chunky necklaces; and 2) My dress has a lot of beading and crystal detail in the bodice and adding over-the-top jewelry might be too much.

In my last post, I showed you all the great ways everyday items can be repurposed for use in a wedding. We decided a few months ago that we needed a cheap alternative to our centerpieces and went to the web for inspiration, where we found lovely ideas like these below:

…is a savvy bride’s gold! Like many brides before me, I have learned that weddings are expensive and that it is often frivolous and wasteful to spend so much money on decor that will eventually be boxed up and stuffed in a basement, or even worse, in the trash. So what better way to be eco-friendly and save money than to repurpose everyday items?

…finals week in college. As we near the end of our wedding planning chaos, I can’t help but think of how much my mind and body feels like it’s gone through a multi-week long journey of studying and prepping for that dreaded week of finals.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve spent many late nights working on DIY projects and putting together lists (among countless other things) to prepare for the big day. Read more…

This past weekend among the flurry of craftivities (yup, crafting-activities), Mr. L and I decided to take a break and teach ourselves the Waltz.
And, what better way to find a Waltz lesson than on YouTube:
Despite his uncoordinated dancing abilities, Mr. L took pretty well to the YouTube instructional video and was soon dancing around the living room counting aloud, “1…2…3…1…2…3…1…2…3…” in what I think was a British accent (apparently the British like to Waltz).

This past weekend the moms (with outside help from MOH Amy) threw us a joint wedding shower. It was put together a little last-minute (yes, procrastination runs in the family) and even with best intentions and high hopes we didn’t get the turnout we had expected. A lot of our invited guests had weddings to attend, hours to be worked, or were tied up in other plans. Either way, it didn’t matter—we made the best of it and had fun!
FMIL Locket worked her butt off to gather all of the goodies for the event and did an amazing job! On the day of we all worked together to get things set up and before we knew it we had a table full of enough food to feed an army.

A few posts ago I shared with you my new-found love for paper garlands and hinted that I may be tempting my fate at them. Well, this past weekend Mr. L and I worked together and within a few hours of time we created our own heart garland. I started the project off by using my Hotmarks tool (boy, this thing is handy!) to burn-cut hearts out of an old romance novel (donated by Momma L).

Soon after her offer, I received it in the mail (along with the most adorable card) and I couldn’t wait to try it on. After unwrapping it I proceeded to prance around the apartment in the veil and asked Mr. L’s opinion. His response was, “It looks a little bit dark…don’t you think?” Read more…

Over the course of wedding planning, many a bride or groom will find themselves mucking around legal paperwork to make sure everything can happen.
In late June Mr. L and I realized that if we wanted to go on our Mexican honeymoon, we would need to apply for our passports (mine was long expired and Mr. L never had one). So, we grabbed up all of our information and our needed proofs of being and brought it to our county clerk (luckily, we did this days before the price increase).
Little did I know that when you apply for a passport, they send off your birth certificate during the verification process. Read more…

Does anyone else get “The Hustle” stuck in their head when they think of the bustle, or is it just me? Okay, I’m a loon. Anyway…this busy bee spent her weekend traveling to the northernmost tip of NY state to visit her gown in her hometown of Plattsburgh, NY. (Yes, I bought my gown in my hometown because I didn’t want Mr. L to have any chance of hopping on in and seeing it.)
On Saturday morning Momma L and I finished paying for my Maggie; hauled it to the car and drove to meet with the shop’s recommended seamstress, Marsha.
We arrived at Marsha’s for what we assumed would be an easy meeting.

I know, it’s been a while since I posted anything to this series, but I’ve been busy with many a project and haven’t gotten around to anything other than garden roses.
When we last left off, I showed you how to make your own fabric version of garden roses, but I failed to show you how to attach those pretties to a wire “stem” for use in a bouquet. Can you guess where this tutorial is going? Read more…
