After seeing many photos of fancy monograms displayed at countless weddings, I knew that I wanted to have one, too. Having a monogram meant that we could tie everything in our wedding together for a cohesive look. And basically, I could brand our entire wedding with our own personal logo. How cool.
I definitely want to personalize our aisle runner with a monogram like the ones below. Read more…

A few months ago, I discovered the amazing calligraphic goddess that is Barbara Kua. She is a very talented calligrapher based out of Toronto, Canada. Her work is so beautiful and I knew that I needed to have a piece of it.

Last time I talked about how these plain jane 4×6 envelopes were the deciding factor in the size for our STD magnets.
I randomly found them in the clearance bin at Target for only $.25 per pack of 21 envelopes!! That’s almost a penny per envelope!! Score! Although they were very boring and white, I knew I could fancy them up somehow and I couldn’t pass up a sweet deal. I immediately snatched up 6 packages. Read more…

I used a photo from our engagement session and created my own design for our Save the Dates with a little help from Photoshop and my honey. Then I ordered 4×6 magnets in our customized design from OvernightPrints.com.
I contemplated ordering from vistaprint.com since I have ordered from them before and their prices are always cheap. But they didn’t offer the magnets in the postcard size that I wanted, so I went with OvernightPrints. I am so glad that I did because they arrived quickly! In less than 2 weeks, I had our glossy magnets in my hot little hands.
The first thing that I did when I ripped open the package was count them. Read more…

I hear that a lot of people have a hard time picking out a color scheme for their wedding and often go back and forth on this difficult decision. That was not the case with us. It was rather easy, actually. Choosing our colors was probably the first thing that Mr. S and I agreed on after we got engaged.
We knew that we wanted GREEN for sure because it is such a clean, bright and lively color. And it just so happens to be Mr. S’s favorite color. I think it has to do with the fact that he is mostly Irish and he feels he always needs to represent. St. Patty’s Day is like his second birthday and you will never catch him without his green on. No pinches for Mr. S! (Exceptions made only on Talk Like a Pirate Day.)
Arrrrrr! That’s the finest pirate booty I’ve ever laid eyes on.
PINK has always been a favorite color of mine. Read more…

No, we do not have a venereal disease, so don’t worry! I assure you that our genitals are perfectly healthy. (TMI?)
But what we do have are Save the Dates! We ordered 4×6 magnets from overnightprints.com and will be sending them out next month. That should give my guests 8 solid months to plan and arrange flights since most of our friends & family are out of town and our wedding also falls on a big holiday weekend.
Choosing the photograph that we wanted to use was not hard. We are so lucky that we have such an amazing photographer because she was able to capture this lovely photo with all that space on the side to fill in our text. So the decision was simple.

Yes indeed I did. I finally buckled down and made the big purchase. It is actually on its way to me as I type this. I am so excited, yet a little nervous. Why nervous? Well… of all the bridal shops and boutiques that I could have bought my beautiful dress from, where did I decide to go?
That’s right. Good ol’ eBay! A bridal shop in San Francisco had my dream dress listed in one of their auctions for $300 cheaper than what the folks at my local wedding shop were trying to charge me. It’s guaranteed authentic (and not some knock-off sewn in China) and it’s brand-new with tags! I just couldn’t pass it up. That’s an extra $300 that I can use towards other wedding “must-haves” like a photobooth. Hehe. On top of the already super-reduced price, the seller offered FREE shipping. You can’t beat that! The nice lady at my local wedding shop told me that I would not find my dress anywhere for cheaper because they get it straight from the manufacturer. Boy was she wrong!
But I was still a little skeptical since it is eBay and all.

Over the Labor Day weekend, my sisters (Bridesmaid N & Maid of Honor C) drove 4 hours to visit me. I always have a blast when I am with them. We are very close in age so we all get along so well. If you wanna see me in my rawest, most comfortable state, catch me with my sisters. I can talk to them about anything from rainbows to butterflies to dildos, haha. And we always laugh it up. Best of all, they don’t really mind all my nonstop wedding jibberjabber… at least I don’t think they do. I’m sure it was a nice break for Mr. S since he still complains that I talk about the wedding too damn much. I really don’t know what he’s talking about!
I went to my dress appointment that Saturday with my ladies as scheduled. Bridesmaid S met us there. I had such a fun time trying on dresses and having my wonderful ladies there to zip me up and lace me in. It gave me a tiny glimpse of what the morning of the big day might be like, and I got a little giddy. I believe that it is really important to surround yourself with strong-minded women that you can really trust. Instead of inflating my head with fluff that they think I want to hear, they will tell me straight up if I look like a clown. And that’s why I love them so much! I wish that my two other bridesmaids and my mom could have been there too.

Nine years ago, the man now known as my fiance asked me to be his girlfriend. We were slow-dancing at my high school Valentine’s dance and he had just slipped a necklace over my head. It was just a cheap keychain hanging on a red ribbon, provided by the school. But I thought it was very sweet. I think Mr. Sunrise was nervous, but I couldn’t really tell over the loud pounding of my own heartbeat. I answered “yes” and then he kissed me for the first time.
I remember being super-shy and nervous. It was the first time I had asked a boy to accompany me to a school dance, and definitely the first time I had gone to one with a college boy. I’m an old-fashioned kind of gal and I don’t normally do the asking, but you see, this dance was called The “Turnabout” Dance. The girls were supposed to ask the boys to the dance. I knew Mr. Sunrise from my part-time job at the local supermarket and although we hit it off at work, I wasn’t sure if he would want to go to some cheesy high school dance with me.
It took me weeks, but I finally mustered up the courage to ask him. Read more…

Doo da doo doo… Hi Hive! Miss Sunrise here. I can’t beelieve that I’m a bee! I feel so honored. I was still at work when I opened Pengy’s email. Thank goodness it was at the end of the day and the office had already cleared out because I let out a loud squeal that would probably put a baby pig to shame. Eeeee!! Me, a bee?! I immediately picked up the phone to share the good news with Mr. Sunrise, but after the first ring, I hung up and decided that I wanted to tell him in person. I sat at my desk, all fidgety-like from my excitement, until Mr. Sunrise finally arrived to pick me up.
When I got in the car, I just looked at him with wide eyes and an even wider smile. I didn’t even wait for him to ask what was up when I excitedly blurted, “I’m a bee!!” and proceeded to happily bounce up and down in my seat. Mr. Sunrise knew how much I had been wanting to blog for the hive and he was so happy for me. So happy in fact, that he threw his arms out and started doing the cabbage patch while singing a butchered version of Black Eyed Peas’ “Imma Be“. It was adorable. Then he gave me a big congratulatory hug and we drove home.
After I calmed down a little, I dashed out to the nearest costume store and bought an appropriate outfit that I could prance around in and declare my new bee status to the world.
Hello World, I am the newest Weddingbee blogger, nice to meet ya.
As if that wasn’t crazy enough, I decided that I needed something more permanent… like a tattoo! So I found the nearest tattoo parlor and got inked up. It was painful but I felt so bad-ass.
