I’ve found a lot of photos of wedding bouquets that I absolutely love, but none so far have been the spitting image of what I want. Some of the bouquets I’ve been collecting are the right color, some are the right shape, and some have really fun textures from berries, grasses, and leaves. My favorites are the three in the center of this collage (Which I managed to assemble a few weeks ago without saving any sources… ARGH!):

Miss Cherry Pie spends a decent amount of time thinking about what she’s going to wear to the wedding. Dress, hair, make-up, shoes, etc. Until this weekend I’d considered it pretty much straightforward that I’d wear a rented tuxedo. Last weekend though, I started entertaining the idea of getting a suit instead. Read more…

Our invitation designer sent me an email a few weeks ago describing with great excitement the new press she is shortly welcoming to her home.

When I was little, my parents had an odd assortment of hats, including a communist army cap, an elaborate turban, and the cowboy hat pictured above. The other hats have long-since been sold at yard sales or disintegrated with age but for some reason my folks have hung onto this felt cowboy hat. Read more…

The overwhelming favorite from my post about our invitation mock-ups was design #4, “Rustic Bouquet” with a solid red Dahlia. And you know what? That’s great, because it’s the one we liked best, too!

I looooove Shepherd’s hooks. Though I have to admit they were one of the (many) things I’d never heard of before I started reading Weddingbee, I’ve been quite taken with the way they look.
Shepherd’s hooks are a fabulous way to decorate your aisle or altar for an outdoor wedding, especially if you are using non-traditional seating like benches or hay bales, both of which we are considering for our wedding.
The home and garden store near my work started stocking beautiful dark-brown (gunmetal? pewter?) colored hooks for only $3.95 apiece, which my research online told me was a very competitive price. I decided to get 20 hooks, which is probably more than I need, but I was able to talk them into a 15% bulk discount on my purchase. Plus, buying the hooks in person meant avoiding heavy-duty shipping charges on several pounds of metal!

I’m blessed with long, straight, easy-to-style hair. Though I will admit that strawberry blond is not my natural color (it’s more “dishwater” blond, blech), I am happy with everything else about my locks.
I still haven’t decided what I want to do with my hair for the wedding. Sometimes I imagine it up, sometimes down, sometimes half-back. But I’m just not sure! So I’ll list a few ideas and you can help me decide… Read more…

I don’t want to turn our wedding into some kind of endorsement for Coca-Cola, but found another brand-name something that I just had to have. It’s a hand-painted and weathered replica of an original Coca-Cola sign… I got it at the Fremont Antique Market a few weeks ago! Read more…

We started our shoot with Nicole Tavenner of Piknik studios midday at Mr. Cherry Pie’s family cabin on Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park. The first photos we took to loosen up were on the front porch of the guest cabin. I look so fresh and Mr. CP looks so cautious!

A while back, I decided to start collecting cans and jars to use as vases and candle holders during the ceremony and reception. Not only will these miscellaneous and mismatched vessels lend a rustic and “country” ambiance to our wedding, they’ll also save us money.
Some of the jars I’ve collected so far are antiques, like these blue-glass mason and assorted canning jars:

On the 7th of last month, Mr. Cherry Pie and I celebrated eight years together. Eight! EIGHT IS GRRREAT!
Ahem. Sorry ’bout that.
Because it was our last date-a-versary, I wanted to get him something special. I had planned to take him to a very spiffy restaurant near our apartment, but it was closed on Monday evening. I didn’t want to come home empty-handed even though we could just reschedule. So I went hunting about Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood to see what I could find on my lunch break. Read more…

Check out this sweet box I got at the Fremont antique market a few weeks ago. I think it was used as a rolodex. I would have suspected it was a recipe box if not for the “Mc” tab next to the “M” tab. ( Unfortunately, it’s missing the letters V thru Z. Whoops. ) Read more…

I’ve got oodles of design experience, but when it came to making our wedding invitations, I had NO idea where to begin. I asked our invitation designer if she had any suggestions. Well, she had more than suggestions… she sent me a series of awesome design mock-ups to use as inspiration!
We had her do some small revisions to the designs we liked best to help us decide on our favorites. For example, the original batch of mock-ups had a yellow color palette, but we changed to burgundy with chocolate brown and khaki accents to match our wedding colors.
I told our designer that we liked botanicals that suggested late summer and fall, but we also wanted to keep our design simple and bold. She definitely got what we were looking for. Here are some of our favorites! Read more…

Recently, Mr. Cherry Pie and I swung by Tiffany & Co while running errands in Downtown Seattle. I had a necklace I wanted cleaned and a bracelet I’d received that I wanted to exchange for something more “me.”
Mr. Cherry Pie spotted this beautiful bracelet, which he thought complemented my ring in a way that jewelry rarely does: Read more…
