At the end of last year, I blogged about this interesting movie in the works called Bride Wars. Time really flies because it’s coming out soon!
Who’s excited to see this movie? I know I am!

The night before the wedding (which is only a few days away - yikes!), Mr. Hum and I have agreed to spend the night in different places. He will stay at our ceremony/reception site with the boys - his dad, his brother Nick and our friend and videographer Alex (a.k.a. Zombiegroom), while I head over to Ancaster with my future sister-in-law Erin and our friend and other videographer Kim (a.k.a. Zombiebride) for a girls only sleepover.
Since I’m a pretty jittery person when I am excited about something, I decided to try and come up with a bit of a plan to keep myself distracted pre-wedding. And, because I am a movie fan, I figured what better way to do it than by watching some retro teen movies*? After all, how can a girl be nervous about walking up the aisle when confronted with the ridiculousness of 1980s fashion?
Anyway, here are some of the movies I’m considering:

Mr. Canary and I love movies, though nowadays we don’t go as often as we’d like… but Netflix gets us through some good movie binges.

Last week, we watched Away from Her which is such a great film and Julie Christie’s performance was nothing short of perfection. I only hope to age as gracefully and beautifully as Julie Christie! Anyway, the story line for the film is that Julie Christie’s character, Fiona, has been happily married to Grant for many years. She develops Alzheimer’s and they decide that it is best that she stay at a managed care facility. In the haze of the illness, she forgets Grant and develops an affection for another patient, Aubrey.

Happy Valentine’s Day bees and readers! So it’ll be my last valentine’s as an unmarried woman… Mr. Lovebird and I are guilty of overlooking this holiday the last couple of years. Today will be no different. He will be studying for his upcoming neurology exam and I will be at home treating myself to one of my click-flicks.
Too bad this movie isn’t out until later on this year, but it sure caught my eye.

Anyone up for a NYC bee meet up for the movie?? Anyone, anyone?!

Not too long ago, Mr. Cupcake was away for a week on vacation with his parents in the Adirondacks. It was one of my busiest times at work, so I was unable to join them (and I kind of thought it made for a nice excuse to let Mr. Cupcake enjoy a vacation with his parents, whom he is extremely close to and whom I know miss him tons since he moved two hours away to be with me).
Hanging out alone on a Saturday night with nothing in particular to do, I came across the original Father of the Bride on t.v., starring Spencer Tracey and Elizabeth Taylor, from 1950. I stumbled across it just as it was starting, so I hunkered down and began watching.

I came across an interesting article while surfing the web today about a new movie coming out.
“Anne Hathaway has been set to star with Kate Hudson in “Bride Wars,” and Gary Winick (of 13 Going on 30 fame) has signed to direct the romantic comedy for New Regency.
I’ve been kinda excited about the movie, 27 Dresses, ever since I first heard about it on the bee a little while ago. I’m a big Grey’s Anatomy fan, and I love Katherine Heigl!

Although we’ve had the movie at home for days (Netflix is awesome!), Mr. Kiwi and I finally watched Little Miss Sunshine. Needless to say, the movie is great! Something else I noticed… the pageant is filmed in the room we’re having our reception! How exciting is that?
Here they are in the foyer where we’re having our bar and guest book table (apologize for the size):

This is Steve Carell jumping out of the bus in our parking lot:

Baby, it’s cold outside! So what’s better than curling up with your honey and a great wedding-related movie? Nothing! (god I’m cheesy :P).
Here are some wedding movies I can think of, off the top of my head:
Father of the Bride
The Wedding Singer
The Wedding Planner
Wedding Crashers (not sure if this should count :P)
My Big Fat Greek Wedding
The Wedding Date
My Best Friend’s Wedding
I know I’m forgetting a whole lot….what are some of your favorite wedding movies?
A few weeks ago I saw this movie and I really liked it. The movie takes place in PHILLY! Woohoo!

It’s about two sisters, one’s a back stabbing ho, who have nothing in common but their shoe size but they eventually learn to understand one another after meeting their grandmother. At the end of the movie the older sister gets married at this small Jamaican restaurant and the younger sister picks out her dress for her. Maggie (played by Cameron Diaz) who’s the back stabbing ho, is the younger sister who has dyslexia. At the end of the movie, to surprise her sister Rose (who’s played by Toni Collette), she reads a poem by E.E. Cummings. I lost it.
I carry your heart with me
I carry it in my heart
I am never without it
Anywhere i go you go, my dear;
And whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling
I fear no fate
For you are my fate, my sweet
I want no world
For beautiful you are my world, my true
And it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
And whatever a sun will always sing is you
Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
And the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
Which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide
And this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart
I carry it in my heart

I think no matter how much you fight with them and probably hate them, at times there’s nothing like the bond between sisters. Besides the bond between a mother and a child I think it’s the next strongest bond. I don’t even think you can put it in to words. I mean I have 4 and we did a WHOLE LOTTA fightin growing up but I love them and I don’t think I can live without them.
Yesterday while Mr. Ladybug was taking a nap, I caught the middle of Diary of a Mad Black Woman. It’s about this woman, Helen, who married a wealthy lawyer, Charles, and after 18 years he threw her out of the house in front of his mistress. I don’t know if he was wealthy after they got married or before, but she wasn’t a gold digger. She truly loved him. Apparently he was very abusive to his wife and took her for granted.
She moves in with family and starts a journal about starting over. Then she meets Orlando and they fall in love. One night she’s sleeping over at his place and in the morning when she wakes up, he’s already making breakfast for her. She goes into the bathroom and is fixing her hair when she notices an engagement ring on her finger. He put it on her finger while she was sleeping! She turns around to walk out so she can confront him about it, and he’s already standing right outside the door! He says something along the lines of “I love you. I know you’ve been hurt but I won’t hurt you. I just want to take care of you. All you have to do everyday is get up in the morning and I’ll take care of the rest.” ![]()
I started crying like a lil bitch. Can you imagine waking up, doing your daily morning routine, you’re just totally oblivious like “lalalala lalalala,” and then all of a sudden you notice an engagement ring on your finger?!
Then towards the end she brings her ex husband with her to church, and he goes up to the front because he’s so moved by the gospel choir’s music. I just lost it again. Why am I such a lil bitch?
Thank God Mr. Ladybug was sleeping! He would have made fun of me. I want to go to a Baptist Church.
