Thinking back to just a couple of months ago, I really have to have called myself lazy. I ate fast food almost every day/night, never worked out, and just didn’t care about myself much in general. I can say during the holiday season, I was really hard on myself. I thought I was super ugly and could never see myself as a gorgeous bride.

I joined the YMCA a month ago, telling myself it was time to change. I had to change… I hated my looks, hated walking up and down the stairs feeling winded. This is all too familiar, wanting to change.
I told myself that I would change back in 7th grade when I was the fat girl on the cheerleading squad. I told myself that I that I wouldn’t be the fat girl at prom in my junior year. I told myself that I would change when I was in one of the largest band uniform sizes at LSU.
As I sat in on that new member meeting, where I was to schedule my first fitness assessment, I looked around and noticed I was the largest person in the room.

I’ve noticed that we’ve had a lot of trouble finding balance when it comes to planning big day.

One of the biggest decisions that a couple makes is where they are going to live post-wedding. For Mr. BF and I, the decision was simple. We both loved Baton Rouge, and despite my New Orleans roots, I was ready and eager to move out there permanently. The problem was in timing. When should I make the move? My dilemma was difficult… I had a great job in NOLA, I had the vacation time needed for the honeymoon, and really got along well with some of my coworkers. However, I realized I didn’t want to change jobs and get married at the same time, so last fall, I decided to put my resume out there.

I have a problem with makeup. While it looks beautiful upon application, it wears off fast. I’m plagued by oily skin, Louisiana humidity, and the tendency to be overly-emotional. I’m thankful that I’ll have my makeup professionally done on our wedding day, so hopefully that problem won’t be too bad, but I will be enlisting the help of some products to give the makeup that boost to stay on throughout the day!
I would like to mention a HUGE thank you to Makeup Alley. This website is AWESOME (and free). It’s all makeup/beauty products and users review them, listing their age, skin type, what they thought, etc. to give you an idea of if the product might work on you.
First you go to the product review page and you get a search option.

Then, you are able to search by category (foundation, eye shadow, etc.), brand name (Maybelline, Smashbox, etc.) and product name (Oil Blotting sheets, Paradise Pink lip gloss, etc.)

I realized in reading comments from my last post, that I haven’t really discussed with y’all how I am changing my life towards a healthier lifestyle.
I am taking very small steps here, because cold turkey just never works for me. I haven’t had an ounce of soda since October, so that was something that I didn’t have to really give up. Trust me soda drinkers; it’s not that bad to give it up and you actually begin to CRAVE water. The thought of those burpy bubbles going in my system isn’t so appealing anymore. ![]()
Here are some things I’ve changed:

* 64 oz. of water everyday. I bought a Sigg bottle to be more eco-friendly, so we don’t buy water bottles as much! (I’m way less tired and hungry doing this!!)

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
Thanks to a recent Monday holiday from work, Mr. Ballet Flat and I conquered a pretty huge task on our wedding to-do list: The rings.
My ring was easy to find. All I wanted it to do was to match my engagement ring. Mr. Ballet Flat did so great with this ring… I still get compliments on it!!
So, the jewelers found my exact match, and here’s a similar picture of what it will look like.

I did find out some funny news at the store. My e-ring has been a little loose, so they re-sized me and I went down a ring size! When it gets closer to the wedding, I’ll have my e-ring rhodium dipped and re-sized. My e-ring is a size 7, and we ordered the wedding band in a size 6.5. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with weight loss or not…
Thanks again to everyone in the hive for your support in my journey to a healthier lifestyle! I know with the New Year, I started a workout routine and realized, oh gosh, I have no gear! I need gear! So, some of my Christmas money went towards workout gear!
First, I realized that my lame excuses for sports bras were not gonna cut it. I bought them a few years back at Lane Bryant, and during my step test, all I could feel (besides the excruciating thigh pain) were the girls bouncing.
So, I went to Target and looked, hoping for a plus sized sports bra. I didn’t see anything made for plus size, but I found this:

This is going to be one of the hardest things I’ve ever posted about myself on here. As you all (may) know, I’m a plus-sized girl. A couple of weeks ago, I asked for a push from you guys, and so many of you offered great advice and tips that I’m slowly incorporating into my lifestyle. I appreciate it so much!
Weight loss has always been hard for me.

I feel like I cheated my (bee) name, and you will see why. As I’ve mentioned before, Mr. Ballet Flat and I are the same height. So, the shoes proved to be a big dilemma.
I am now rushed to find my shoes, because THE DRESS came in. I was informed that I need to have my shoes picked out by February 3rd for the dress to be altered in time for my springtime bridal pictures. So, needless to say, I spent New Year’s weekend on a shoe hunt.
My criteria:
I first started at my bridal shop, however, they only had sample shoes in size 7-8. The consultant joked that I should cut off my toes like in Cinderella. Serious fail right there!
The next day, I went to (gulp) David’s Bridal on a Saturday.

As a plus sized girl, I’ve always found it difficult to get the cute clothes that fit me well! I’m a tall size 22 and that seems to be the size of the season in plus sized stores. So, whenever I shop, I have to pay full price (no sales on this size). So, to justify the price, I often find myself just wearing what I buy until it gets holes in it.
Yes, I was hopeful in the beginning to not be plus size when it came time for the wedding, but now that I’m a little under 5 months away from the big day, it’s time to face the music!
I remember reading on The Knot about all the cute bridal accessories available in stores and online. The problem?

I hope everyone has had a wonderful, relaxing holiday season so far!
You may have noticed that I haven’t written a post in a couple of weeks. I’d rather not go into detail that much right now about what’s going on, though. I just wanted to apologize. So sorry hive!
::focuses back into the reason for this post::
The ever-so-wonderful Paper-Source is having a HUGE sale on a good bit of their paper products.
I used Paper-Source in part of my invitations (the RSVP card and envelopes), and my Gocco (in the days of RISO producing them). I’ve had nothing but great service from them!

Check out some of the sale items, color wise! It encompasses quite a few colors (as well as some of the Stardream line).

(What our wedding “to-do” list is looking like right about now…)
We did it. We officially booked our limousine company. I felt like a major procrastinator in not booking the limos yet, but one day, I researched, emailed, and the next day, we chose a company. It’s crazy, because I felt like I still had something big left to do, and now, it’s all the little things from here! (A lot of little things, though! I just need to make a new “to-do” list!)
It’s so hard to look at a calendar and see what used to be 14 months away, is now almost 5 months away!

This past weekend Miss K came over from Dallas to hang out, visit old friends and of course, have a killer Gocco party! I have to admit, I was a little scared of when this moment would come. After all, these were going to be THE invitations and there was NO turning back. However, we got SO much done this weekend and it couldn’t have turned out better!
I have to thank her times a million for her help! If you happen to see her in the big D, thank her again for me, will ya? Okay, just kidding!
We started off our adventure at the cupcake shop, since I had some gift cards that were about to expire. So, we bought cupcakes… lots of them.
We also got last minute supplies for invitations at Michaels. (I used my 25% off entire purchase coupon, which you can find in any Martha Stewart Weddings magazine.)
Then, with our 8.5×11 Stardream paper in hand, we went to Kinko’s (my no fail place to get the paper cut perfectly) to get the Stardream chopped up into the invitation sized pieces we wanted.

I’m so frustrated with myself that I just want to curl into a ball and cry. Like I mentioned earlier, I had a plan. A good, solid weight loss plan. When I started packing and moving to where I’ll be living when I become a Mrs., I stopped caring as much about what I ate and made excuses, any excuses, to avoid workouts.

As of Thanksgiving Day, I was **almost** 20 lbs. higher than my lowest weight when I was hardcore dieting last summer. I’m so disappointed that I let myself go this much! I’m almost back to my original college graduation weight.
The worst part is, it’s the holiday season! I am forcing myself to Shred again today, but how will I resist the holiday food?

A friend and I are headed to New Orleans January 1st - 4th!

We’ve booked our room at the International House, and are planning out our itinerary. While we’re there we’ll meet up with the Ballet Flats, visit Bourbon Street, eat at Cafe du Monde and check out a vampire tour (I need to read some Anne Rice and my recently purchased Sookie Stackhouse series to get in the vampire mood!). Of course I’ll be back with tons of pictures and an extensive post on New Orleans as a possible minimoon/honeymoon destination!
So what are your recommendations on fabulous things to do, see and eat?
