My idea of a great date night is dinner and clearance shopping with Mr. Ballet Flat! I currently live below sea level in the suburbs near New Orleans, where I make maps all day, everyday for my job. I'm slowly becoming more and more obsessed with anything New Orleans related for our wedding, and I can't wait for the big day!
I wanted our wedding to be held in my hometown of Destrehan so badly. I really did, but man, the sticker shock of a reception made this very difficult! I knew for a fact where the ceremony would be. I told Mr. Ballet Flat from day one that we had to get married in St. Charles Borromeo Church. I would move the date around as much as possible to get this venue, because this is the church I’ve always gone to. It’s a beautiful, traditional church with a crazy long aisle to walk down. What more is there to ask for, right?

As you might remember from this post about my bridesmaid, Miss K, she ended up picking her dress first out of the 4 ladies who are in my bridal party. I failed to explain that I’m letting my bridesmaids choose their dress. As long as it’s an Alfred Angelo tea-length dress in tealness, I’m good to go! Reason being, they all are very different in body type, size and height. I couldn’t justify choosing one dress to fit their likings. I want them to love their dress and not feel obligated to buy something they otherwise would NEVER choose.
A couple weekends ago, I went with Miss J to go choose her dress at Alfred Angelo. I failed to mention that I know Miss K and Miss J from a national service organization called Silver Wings. We were pretty involved in the organization and eventually were officers together for LSU. Such great college memories… sigh. We all share a slight obsession with “My Humps” by Black Eyed Peas, and it’s in the works to choreograph a dance to this song for the wedding with the gals! (sisters will be included too!) Anyway, besides my two sisters, these ladies are the closest gal pals I’ve ever had!

Psshh… I wish! At 260 something pounds, I could WISH to be a buff bride. However, I’m trying to lose weight before the wedding. No, not 100 lbs exactly, but hoping for 50. I know I won’t be the buff bride everyone thinks of, but to me, I’ll be at my lowest weight as an adult, and by that, I’ll feel GREAT!!
If you want before pictures, check out our e-pics;). So, a few weeks ago, I asked, who is gonna take on the task of whipping my butt into shape for this?? Well, it didn’t take me long to think back a year ago…..
Last year, my fiance and I applied for Season 5 of the Biggest Loser Couples. We didn’t hear a word from casting (probably because our video was lame) but we were determined to peel the pounds away! I remember thinking, I want Jillian Michaels to kick my butt! I want her to make me cry, whine and then in the end, I would be stronger, beautiful and most importantly, healthy!! So who else would train me for my big day??

I remember when I got engaged and thought about the glamour of having someone come to the hotel, apply the perfect colors of make-up, do my hair and I would look flawless and feel beautiful. Then, I saw the price tag of it. Whoa…
I could just DIY, right? I mean I kind of have a problem. I love make-up. I own a lot of it, and it makes me feel good when I go to MAC and just get a lipstick. It brightens my day. Mr. Ballet Flat knows how much I love pretty eye colors too. In fact, for Christmas, he got me the big kahuna of make-up colors!
It’s pretty fun, this palette. I’ve discovered some colors that look spectacular on me! (and some, well, not so spectacular..) Read more…

You know the saying, “dance like no one is watching”? Well, uhm, I only dance when no one is watching. It’s really awkward to think that 150 of our closest family and friends are going to watch Mr. Ballet Flat and I *gulp* dance. My idea of a dance is the ever-so-popular sprinkler, but I know that it’s not necessarily the most traditional thing to do.
See? P-Diddy even does it. So it’s GOTTA be cool, right? Read more…

I can't wait to have our best friends and family together in our favorite city to
celebrate with us!
Hello, hive! I’m sorry for the radio silence the past week, and I hope you don’t think that I’ve forgotten about you. The grad school schedule and general life stuff has caught up with me, and subsequently my wedding planning has been put on the backburner for now. In revisiting my priorities, I’ve had to make some tough decisions about where my personal time (which I have so little of these days!) would best be spent.
I guess that’s all a long-winded way of saying that this is my last post as a Weddingbee blogger, and that it has been an honor writing for you as Miss Sweet Tea.
As all breakups go, would it be any less painful if I said “it’s not you, it’s me”? Because it’s true! The hive has been such a great source of support, inspiration, and community for me, even before I was chosen as a bee. Read more…

I need to cut this picture out and post it on my fridge.
Mr. T would say, “I pity the bride who plans but doesn’t act on it!”
I have so much to do! I guess I’m feeling a small crunch here. The big day is still 7 months away, and while it seems far away, I know that’s pretty close for engaged couples. Read more…

I absolutely love the idea of little favors for guests. Some people opt not to do them, but I see this as a fun opportunity to bring some kitchen love in. Everyone loves food, right? So, it was an obvious decision to do an edible favor. However, we are still undecided on what exactly we are doing for favors. I do have some fun ideas, but I’m afraid there may not be enough time in my day.
Idea #1 (at least for kids): (Kind of) home-made lollipops
These are SUPER simple to make. I make these for kids whenever I volunteer in classrooms, and they’re always a hit! I found these on This Mama Cooks! blog. Read more…

Being that the wedding is in Louisiana, in what is our early summer season, there is no way you will see this future bride in heavy beading, an overly poufy Cinderella dress, etc.
Looking at Jenna Bush’s beautiful ranch wedding, I love how comfortable and beautiful she looks in her dress. Of course, her dress was thousands, probably, but at the same time, I would love a look similar to that. I would love to be comfortable, elegant and of course, in budget.

When I was an R.A. in college, I loved going to websites and choosing funky, fun fonts for posters, class notes, etc. Now that I’m a bride, fonts are starting to intimidate me just a little bit.
I mean, I can’t possibly be expected to just choose one or two fonts for our invites right? There are just so many beautiful fonts. I already chose one for our STD’s, but should I carry that over into our invites to incorporate a theme somehow? I guess we could do that, but we have a few more months to choose!
I love free fonts, by the way. The cheaper, the better, in my eyes. If you are starting your font search, here are my two favorite sites to check out!
You can find all of these wonderful fonts on DaFont. I haven’t had time to go to 1001 Fonts yet. So, in my search so far, here are some of my favorites!
