Mrs. Flamingo, Montreal, CanadaAge and Occupation: 25, Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Nursing StudentEngagement Date: December 2004Wedding Date: June 21, 2008Venue: Imperia Hotel (modern chic hotel)About Me: I am a passionate designer who loves anything pretty. I heart all paper products (eco-friendly of course). My passion revolves around anything considered glamour; vintage and modern. In my free time, I love reading Martha mags, designing jewelry and making a pit-stop at Starbucks for a chai latte. I'm also a chocoholic at heart and my family drools over my homemade truffles.
The holidays are filled with endless amounts of ornaments… and I wish I could buy them all. But this year my Christmas tree features red and turquoise balls—nothing too fancy. When I saw this pretty little horse ornament, I knew I wanted to do something with it.
Of course, it didn’t fit into my current holiday decorations, but I loved the colors and decided to make a mood board instead. There’s no limit when it comes to colors for a wedding palette, as long as you use them wisely. So, my inspiration board features 5 colors: blush pink, purple, beige, olive green, and turquoise/teal. Mrs. Cheeseburger, Baltimore, MD/State College, PAAge and Occupation: 25, Medical StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical StudentEngagement Date: June 28, 2008Wedding Date: March 2010Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel ReceptionAbout Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
It’s easily my favorite time of year. Everything is so sparkly and shiny and beautiful, and (to quote one of my favorite holiday movies) “love actually is all around.”
I think there are so many things that can inspire brides during the holidays. I chose this ornament, as it represents the romance and glamour that the holidays provide:
I developed this board with those thoughts of romance and glamour in mind. The palest pink, deepest red, and gorgeous gold accents work so well together - both in the ornament and in the wonderful world of weddings. Enjoy!
Mrs. Lamb, NorfolkAge and Occupation: 25, Homeland Security ConsultantFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Graduate StudentEngagement Date: January 2009Wedding Date: January 2010Venue: Trinity Presbyterian Church/Harrison Opera HouseAbout Me: I’m a Homeland Security Consultant with a tendency towards pulling office pranks, taking lunch breaks, and drinking Wawa shakes. I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!
Mrs. Hamster, New York CityAge and Occupation: 28, Finance GalFiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Finance GuyEngagement Date: March 9, 2009Wedding Date: May 2010Venue: The Pierre HotelAbout Me: I'm an original Jersey girl living it up in the big NYC! I love baking for others, hosting brunches, and exploring NYC with my mans. Besides Mr. Hamster (of course), I'm attracted to shiny things, bold colors, snacks, matching and coordination, pork and duck fats, miniature versions of things, corny jokes and puns. We are planning a swanky Spring wedding in the heart of NYC, followed by a second reception in Singapore. From one city that never sleeps to another - I can't imagine a more exciting ride!
When I picture my “other wedding”, I cannot help but imagine New York City in the winter. There’s something so ethereal about snow-covered branches in Central Park, ice skating, and buying overpriced chestnuts from the ubiquitous street vendor. I am so excited to build my winter inspiration board around this ornament:

I love polka dots, craft projects, Dunkin’ Donuts’ iced coffee, and anything sparkly. I’m having a blast planning our elegant/dramatic/New York City/acting-themed/largely-DIY wedding and am thrilled to be the youngest current Miss Blogger!
Or “An Inspiration Board based on a Star Wars Christmas Tree Ornament”
I hope you don’t mind me taking a brief break from my recaps to share with you my take on the Christmas ornament inspiration board!
I searched through Etsy, my go-to spot for unique items, for the perfect ornament to use as a springing off point for this series. Inspiration did not strike. However, I did start to chuckle when I came across this gem from Etsy Seller blackrose1151:
I adore things like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter, and the more I thought about it, the more the inner nerd in me wanted very badly to base an inspiration board based on this ornament.
At first, I started gathering pictures that were fun, but definitely a little campy. But I quickly decided that I wanted this to be a serious inspiration board based on Star Wars, not a joke. And I really believe that you can take subtle inspiration from just about anything and turn it into a gorgeous affair. Read more…

Mr. Sushi and I are both haolepinos (half Filipino, half Caucasian) and hope to be able to somehow incorporate our cultures at our destination wedding in Hawaii. All while planning from the sweetest place in earth, Hershey!
While this ornament is the inspiration for the color palette for this inspiration board, it is actually one of my good friends who inspired me to use this ornament. She absolutely LOVES anything and everything celestial that has moon and stars, so why not have a moon and stars-themed wedding?
The colors are mainly navy blue, with an accent color of yellow. I totally picture this wedding happening in the early evening, before the sun sets, with the reception party under the moonlight (maybe under a clear tent). Read more…
Mrs. Yorkie, Miami Age and Occupation: 30, Graduate Admissions CoordinatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 41, Asst. Professor Engagement Date: July 3, 2008Wedding Date: June 2009Venue: Red Fish GrillAbout Me: I’m an East Coast girl with a crafty streak who loves traveling, photography and being outdoors (barefoot, if possible). When I do have to wear shoes, I prefer Mizunos, and have worn out a few pairs running marathons. I have a thing for chai, crossword puzzles, Apples to Apples, The Office and my real-life Yorkie, Bella. My West Coast transplant, Mr. Yorkie, roots for the Buckeyes, loves baseball, and climbs mountains for fun. We’re planning a fun little seaside wedding filled with handmade details and vintage charm. I can hardly wait!
Isn’t it something how an ordinary object, when viewed in a different context, can provide an unexpected spark of wedding genius? Take this Christmas ornament from the MoMA collection, for example. Artist Eva Zeisel’s punch-hued, mouth-blown glass bell provides the perfect inspiration for these modern wedding details. Read more…
Mrs. Spaniel, Los AngelesAge and Occupation: 28, Law StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, PsychologistWedding Date: March 2010Venue: Calamigos RanchAbout Me: I'm a third-year law student trying to balance graduating with starting my career, keeping up a relationship, and, oh yeah, planning an Old World, multi-cultural, "mountain lodge" wedding for 180 guests! A South Asian Jewish girl getting ready to marry my handsome Catholic Dane, I'm hoping to blend our cultures in our wedding just a bit more gently than by providing samosas as appetizers and offering æbleskiver for dessert. (Although that would also be awesome.)
This year, Mr. Spaniel and I are sharing our first Christmas tree. I never had one growing up (we didn’t do “Hanukkah Bushes” ’round these parts!), and I’m kind of loving the smell of the tree in the living room! We’d like to start a tradition of ornament exchanges, but since we’re just starting out this year and aren’t bringing any of our own ornaments into this relationship, our gifts to each other are packages of aluminum balls for $2.99 from Ross. But, another year…
I found this ornament at Orna Mentz, and I immediately thought of a gold rosary, wrapped around a bouquet of white roses. So, I made a white and gold wedding inspiration board!
Mrs. Moonbeam, Los Angeles/San AntonioAge and Occupation: 26, Intern ArchitectFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Studio Analyst, aspiring ScreenwriterEngagement Date: May 20, 2009Wedding Date: November 2009Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (LaCoste, TX) and Mary Gray Events Center (Castroville, TX)About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, but after college I moved to Seattle for a couple of years and loved it. Then I followed my beau out here to LA and we're getting settled in. I've been making things since I can remember. I was raised by crafters. I love to sew, draw, paint, build, cook, bake (anything with a tangible end result is fair game). In that same spirit, I've been hosting since I was old enough to cook and set a fancy table. I kind of take after my grandmother, who believes that your morning OJ always tastes better out of the good crystal.
This ornament is as cute as they come. I found it on the Dancing Gnome Etsy shop and I couldn’t help but imagine the whimsical woodland wedding that could come out of it. I think the ornaments would make great cake toppers and then a few gnomes could be sprinkled throughout for some fun decorations. Gnome illustrations could be used as table numbers, and those little red hats are the perfect pop of color.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Graphic DesignerEngagement Date: August 5, 2009Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: Claxton FarmAbout Me: I am true Southern gal displaced in the beautiful and blustery midwest. A true theatre geek at heart, I love any kind of performance and spend most of my time researching old productions in dank library archives. When not in the library, I love music (punk rock, bluegrass, and everything in between), design in all forms, any reality TV show on Bravo (especially those that feature housewives or sharp knives), beer and wine from Oregon, and exploring the outdoors. My fiance and I are true best friends, and he inspires me every day. After a long and happy dating relationship, we’ve decided to tie the knot in the mountains of North Carolina, our home state. We’re planning a long-distance, largely-DIY, eco-conscious hip farm affair that celebrates family, friends, and love.
I’m not sure why I love this ornament, but I do. It reminds me of a whimsical metal snowflake/pine cone hybrid. I want to hang hundreds of them from the ceiling of my fantasy winter wedding.
Mrs. Cowboy Boot, Santa FeAge and Occupation: 25, Magazine EditorFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Artist and Whitewater Rafting GuideEngagement Date: April 28th, 2008Wedding Date: October 2009Venue: Devil's Thumb Ranch, ColoradoAbout Me: I grew up in Los Angeles and have since lived in San Diego, Boston, Italy, Hawaii, New York City, and Santa Fe. I speak Italian and love pasta. My real passion is the outdoors, though. When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. Despite my boyish love for adventure, I'm a girly-girl at heart and am overly-excited to pull off the romantic, vintage-inspired, country wedding of my dreams.
After being asked to design a wedding inspiration board based around a Christmas ornament, I immediately turned to Anthropologie. They have an eclectic assortment of ornaments (that I constantly covet) and I knew I’d be inspired. I sorted through the various deer, owls, mushrooms, and stars and settled on a carnival ornament that reminds me of all things Moroccan, gypsy, hippie, and whimsical: The One-of-a-Kind Carnival Bird.
I liked the idea of a wedding decorated in saturated jewel-toned colors, which this ornament makes me think of (even though it’s grey). So, I went to Polyvore and tried my best. Read more…
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, DallasAge and Occupation: 28, Special Projects CoordinatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity TraderEngagement Date: March 19, 2009Wedding Date: April 2010Venue: Marie Gabrielle, DallasAbout Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
I’ve been begging Mr. Fro Yo for a Christmas tree, but unfortunately we still don’t have one. To make up for my non-existent Christmas tree, I decided to get inspired by ornaments. I’ve learned that wedding inspiration is truly everywhere, including your Christmas tree, if you are fortunate enough to have one.

Engagement Date: December 31, 2008Wedding Date: November 2009Venue: Whitfield Square/Savannah StationAbout Me: I'm working on my second degree from UGA (Go Dawgs!). I'm a self-proclaimed attention-w****. If it involves a camera, I'm in front of it! You'll never meet a girlier tomboy than me. I can go toe to toe with any guy on the subject of college football, and lift more than any girl in my gym, all without chipping a nail. I hope to someday be the only person you want delivering your sports news. My FI and I are the loving parents of three Labrador Retrievers (one of each color) and are planning a "Southern Romantic Charm" wedding in the beautiful, historic city of Savannah. I'm not extreme in anything except moderation... and wedding planning.
When I first heard about this new series the bees were doing, I immediately knew I wanted a pink and gold ornament to work with. Why? (Confession alert!) Because I sorta kinda wish I had made our wedding colors rosy pink, gold, and champagne. Making this board was really fun, but now I’m kinda jealous of my own creation!
This ornament is SO me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE anything pink and glitzy and (as Carrie said to Samantha in the Sex and the City movie) “a little too much”. Working off that sentiment, I decided to make a wedding inspiration board fit for a princess.
Mrs. Nachos, Chicago/St. ThomasAge and Occupation: 32, Real Estate Agent Trainer & HairstylistFiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Radio ProducerEngagement Date: May 22, 2009Wedding Date: April 2010Venue: Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort, St. ThomasAbout Me: I'm a happy, laid back city girl that can find the silver lining in any situation. An optimist at heart, my motto is to turn your "what ifs?" into "so whats!". My fiance is a radio producer and the biggest Cubs fan you'll meet - our apartment decor definitely shows it. He and I grew up next door to each other and because of it, we have the best home videos and easiest holiday dinners. We are planning an intimate wedding in the Virgin Islands and a cocktail party in June for 150 of our closest friends.
I absolutely love Christmas ornaments. I’ve also been playing around with inspiration boards lately because I’m trying to come up with a color scheme for our June cocktail party. I found this ornament…

I like reading wedding blogs, Photoshopping wedding design mock ups, making lists, and planning, planning, planning! I’m a bit of an anomaly, on one side I’m a very girlie girl, I collect shoes, I lay out my outfits 4-6 weeks in advance, and I’d never leave the house without my hair curled and makeup on. But on the other side, I’m a total tomboy, I love to go camping and hiking, play drinking games (hey, I’m Irish!) and most of my closest friends are guys. My fiancé and I are planning a DIY-focused wedding with a balance between easygoing (what he wants) and chic and stylish (what I want), and are tying it all together with elements in lavender, sage, butter cream and chocolate.
Wouldn’t this color scheme of yellow, purple and hints of green make for a beautiful early spring wedding? You could even tie in a gold-colored dress to go with the background of the picture. Along with the other bees, I’ve made an inspiration board based off this ornament. Ahhh, yet another wedding I want! Read more…
