Our final stop on our honeymoon roadtrip was the city of Merida (It’s the capitol of the Yucatan peninsula). We had wanted to visit one of the colonial cities in Mexico and this one is rich in history. Founded in 1542 by a Spanish father and son team, it is known as the “white city” because of the use of limestone on most of the oldest buildings. You could definitely feel the European influence through the architecture and charming cafes.Read more…

So, aside from getting married recently, Mr. Peppermint and I have been very busy on another project. The weeks leading up to the wedding were filled with the last minute details of seating arrangements and the like as well as another very big endeavor: a webseries! And, as my wedding obsession has admittedly taken over most of my life, it was very fitting to bring it into my work…
The series, “Engaged“, features a fictional couple as they face the ups and downs of engagement…
We’re busy working on more episodes, but here’s the first one:
Mr. Peppermint and I had a blast making this together and we’ve really been looking forward to sharing it with the Weddingbee community!! I’d love to hear any ideas for future shows, especially ones based on your own experience…

The next leg of our honeymoon was filled with plenty of relaxation and lots of culture. We left the tourist mecca (I mean that in a good way!) of Playa del Carmen for the more serene beach community of Tulum…On the way south, we stopped at Oscar y Lalo’s, a popular restaurant along the highway. It was a nice, serene stop (though not by the beach as the guidebooks suggested… hmmm) with good Mexican/Yucatanean food.

As many of you may recall, Mr. Peppermint and I honeymooned in Mexico (the “Riviera Maya” area, a.k.a. the Yucatan). In choosing the destination, we had a few requirements:
somewhere neither of us had been
short flight (no more than 5 hours)
decent weather (no hurricanes, snow storms, etc!)
Culture (i.e. museums, history, something aside from just mixed drinks)
Relaxation (not just culture). Beaches, massages & mixed drinks
We also liked that we could drive between destinations (come on, we’re from LA and there’s nothing that can beat a good ol’ road trip). We hadn’t driven in a foreign country before and had heard that the driving can be a bit aggressive. Now, having done it, I can say that it was a great decision and offered us flexibility and a great way to take in the entire region.

Before setting sail (er…plane) to Mexico for our honeymoon, we knew it could not be complete without a pit stop at Disneyland first. After all, it had been a special place for us the entire five years we’d been dating. At first we were going to legitimize that it was on the way to the airport (it’s not)… or that we had to kill time the night before our early morning flight. But let’s face it, we wanted to go and so we did!
Decked out for the holidays as only Disney does, here we are at the festive entrance to CA Adventures:

Now that I’ve been married for just over a month, things are now settling down!
We’re finally starting to find a routine. As we work to get used to the inevitable changes (where do we store all our stuff!?!), one possible change is how we socialize. Granted, Mr. Peppermint and I have been together for over five years now, yet, I find that our single friends don’t know if it’s okay to hang out one-on-one or if they should include the spouse now. On the flip-side, many of our friends in relationships are excited to have a couple to get together with….
We found this video to be particularly poignant given our current dilemma:
So, my question to you: How have your social lives changed since being in a serious relationship? What are your “weekend plans”??

So, after a month of wonderful craziness–my wedding on Dec 8th, followed by an 11-day honeymoon in Mexico, followed by a week of holiday shopping and celebrating–we’re back!
The wedding was perfect!! Okay, so things went wrong (as they always do), but even with the little bumps in the road I wouldn’t change a thing. I can’t wait to share all the details, photos and odds & ends with you soon…
For now, here are a few pictures my Aunt & Uncle snapped…

Today we leave for Palm Springs in preparation for our wedding!! We’re packing up the car (man, how do we have SO much stuff?!?).I can’t believe how quickly the time goes by–it seems like just yesterday that we got engaged and the wedding day felt like it would never come. Well it’s all here and I can’t contain myself: I’m so excited! Come rain or shine, the day will be wonderful.
Thanks to all of you readers and bees out there. You’ve inspired me (and my wedding!), and have been such a great support during this planning process. I seriously couldn’t have done it without you.
Next time I write I will be MRS. Peppermint!!
(picture from my shower, real wedding photos soon…!)

While many consider the Bachelorette party to be a raucous night of debauchery, I wanted something that would be relaxing and indulgent before the big day. So, without further ado, I present my bachelorette party…
We (my MOH/sister, 2 of my bridesmaids and I) started the day off bright and early–we wanted to have plenty of time to get to our first stop… the spa! We drove from my Hollywood apartment to Corona, home of the incredible Glen Ivy spa. The atmosphere was wonderful–calm, quiet and fun! During the peak summer season, the spa can have 1000 guests. Lucky for us, it was an overcast day so there were only about 50 people there. I did a number of treatments: massage, scrub, mani/pedi & waxing. I had been a little nervous about the waxing–I’ve never gotten it done and I was getting full leg and underarms. The technician was really nice and put me at ease. And, most importantly, I survived!
One of the best parts of the day was “Club Mud”. At Glen Ivy, they have a red clay mud “bath” that you can get in. Since it was cold, we opted to stay out of the “bath” and slather the mud on ourselves by hand. After you let it dry, you wash it all off to leave your skin refreshed!
