I hope to make it all up to you by resuming our wedding recap with lots of pictures!! I’m going a little out of sequence here and moving from our first dance straight to the cutting of the cake(s) (I skipped the speeches, for now, because I’m hoping to get some video to show you!).

Teaser 2: Into the Woods

November 4th, 2008 @ 3:37 pm by Mrs. Avocado

When visiting Poland with Mamacado this past May, FILcado took us to see a Polish castle. As a girl who referred to herself as a princess growing up (yes, even in high school) I was beside myself. I reached the point of critical mass when a bride and groom walked up right behind us, plunked themselves down, and started taking portraits.

What really got my creative juices flowing were the vintage suitcases they were hauling around and incorporating into their portraits. A photo prop that can be converted into instant seating is the best kind of photo prop. It fit perfectly into our non-themed vintagey/travelesque/button wedding.

I also love that they asked the medieval festival participants to pose in their pictures with them!

Love Made Simple: The Men Suit Up!

November 3rd, 2008 @ 5:56 pm by Mrs. Cookie

When last we left, my bridesmaids and I were trekking into the forest for bridal pics. Meanwhile back in the groom’s suite Mr. Cookie was getting himself ready for the big day.

According to reliable sources (i.e. Mr. Cookie’s Best Man), he seemed as cool as a cucumber. I had often asked him before the wedding if he was getting nervous, and so like Barney on “How I Met Your Mother” he played it Mr. Cool! On the inside, I knew he was as charged with emotion about our wedding as I was. This will be evident when you see the ceremony pics of Mr. Cookie.

Let the Teasing Begin

November 3rd, 2008 @ 2:34 pm by Mrs. Avocado

My photographer has been devoting entire posts to our wedding day photos. Not just the “Here are 40 photos and I am done now,” kind of posts most brides get, but the “I’m breaking this wedding up into several sections and blogging about the event as a story.” In fact, if I was really lazy, I could just point you to her blog and not do any recaps at all! Except I have been waiting to do my recaps since I was accepted as a Bee. I LOVE recaps and I can’t wait to get my CD back so I can get started on mine.

Why would she devote so much time to our pictures? To quote her:

Mrs. Avocado was my very first ever roommate at BYU (and makes the top 3 list of favorites, out of 32!), so she gets special treatment.

I’m still waiting for professional pictures but we just got our photobooth pictures back and they are so much fun I had to share. We used Cheesy Photobooths based out of the LA/Orange County area. They were so easy to work with and I love what they had to offer. The gave us unlimited double prints for the event up to 4 hours, digital CD of all the photos, on-site attendant, free setup/breakdown in the LA area, a custom digital banner and a scrapbook and supplies. They also had this bonus where they were giving us 2 extra hours of service free of charge. They also offer a and a 12′ screen free of charge (for the first client to book) that date. Not to mention that all the booths have a digital display screen on the outside so people waiting can see the pictures as they are taken.

Our guests loved thephotobooth and we got some absolutely hilarious pictures to prove it. The only thing I would change would be to put it in a more prominent location since some of our guests didn’t even know the photobooth was there. Also, make sure you tell your family and bridal party to get their turn in the photobooth. My family and most of our groomsmen/bridesmaids didn’t find the time to make it over and take some pictures.

About Mrs. Espresso

I’m finally “officially” back, and I’ve missed you all so much. I was hoping to start recapping sooner- but Mr. E and I just moved into a bungalow from 1916 and the wiring was a bit more complex than we anticipated. But enough with that- let’s get to the good stuff!

Marrying Mr. Espresso under the tall pines is still something I think back on everyday. I remember looking at him at our reception thinking: I can’t believe he’s my husband. I can’t believe this is our wedding happening all around us… I’m so happy.

TTD

You’ve been asking… I’ve been wishing… we’ve all been waiting… and finally, our first “batch” of Trash the Dress pics were blogged!

I’m really excited that these are the first we’re seeing, because it was with our favorite photographer of the day: the adorably sweet and fun Jordana Taylor Hazel of Hazelnut Photography!

Jordana and her similarly swoonable hubby Chris (aka her bad-ass assistant) found us late in the day, just as the sun was losing its shine. But, Jordana came prepared with some fun flashy toys and fired away! They were up for some really fierce and funky shots, and these are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the great time we all had. I remember lots of giggling, squealing, and bouncing up and down… and that was just Chris and Mr. Meatball. :)

We were so impressed by spending that hour with Jordana. I highly recommend her to any couple for their big day, a boudoir session, or their own Trash the Dress shoot. She’s funky and spirited, with a great eye and natural talent. I hope to not only work with her again, but to also play with her as friends very soon!

Enough talk - let’s let these babies speak for themselves!

Big love under a big plane. Read more…

And Miss Becomes Mrs.

October 31st, 2008 @ 9:33 am by Mrs. Hydrangea

I was completely surprised that our ceremony was exactly one hour long, maybe even a little less, considering all of the Spanish traditions that we included in our ceremony. We were so on top of things time wise, that I waited in the bridal room for almost two hours before I could see Mr. H again!

Here are some highlights of when we finally said our I dos, after 14 months of planning!

About Mrs. Cookie

By 7:00 AM, I was wide-awake. To be honest, I barely slept. The adrenaline, anxiety, and sheer joy of the moment hindered me from sleeping. I kept eyeing the alarm clock about every hour thinking, “Is it time to get up?” Since we decided to not see one another before the wedding ceremony, I kissed Mr. Cookie goodnight and spent my last night as a single gal with my MOH in a nearby Residence Inn. I tossed, turned, drifted into a fog, and then I was wide-awake.

Although I didn’t get the perfect night’s sleep, I was a ball of energy and nerves. I tried to eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast, took two bites, and was done. I could barely eat—too nervous. I guess my inner control freak was getting to me. I was so worried that all the DIY goodness that I had slaved over, and that I reluctantly put into the hands of both our parents to set-up, would not make it to Breckenridge intact. As I reach for my cell phone to appease my nerves, my MOH snatched it from my hands and rushed me to the nearest Starbucks. Once that caffeine hit my bloodstream, ironically the pre-wedding jitters subsided. What can I say, I am totally addicted to coffee and I had the best MOH ever!

We took a quick jaunt over to the hair stylist and then were off to Breckenridge.
