I am a very dorky and sentimental person. I love laughing and living life alongside my husband-to-be. We have been in a long distance relationship for over 6 years - he is in California and I am presently in Canada, so you can imagine how excited we both are for our upcoming wedding.
So you spend 2 years planning and anticipating for your wedding day. Of course, aiming for perfection, down to the minute details. But you know what, I have learned that no matter how much or how long you have planned, and no matter how many lists you make- life happens!
I just wanted to share with all of you some of our memorable wedding moments. And maybe you can share with me some of yours?
Roll the film please!
1. Because I started semi-bawling soon after I stepped out of my limo, one of my false eyelashes fell out during our wedding vows. I swear I looked like Mike, the green creature from Monsters, Inc. At one point I looked at my best friend/bridesmaid and whispered, “my one eyelash fell off, can you tell?” Her reaction spoke volumes. So I discreetly yanked off the other one and hid them in my bundle of tissue. Needless to say we were unable to glue them back on. Note to self: Next time, minimize crying like a baby! Read more…
Mrs. Gardenia, La HabraAge and Occupation: 30, IT Security AdministrationFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, AccountantEngagement Date: February 6, 2006Wedding Date: January 5, 2008Venue: Black Gold Golf ClubAbout Me: After 9 years of dating, I’m finally getting hitched and planning a multi-cultural wedding in Orange County, California. I think making brownies is my secret passion in life - I will make my mark in this world through them (a la Betty Crocker). Aside from baking, I also enjoy scrapbooking, being a dessert connoisseur (current fave: French macaroons), photography and I’m also a self confessed spa virgin turned addict.
10. Waking up to “Going to the Chapel” playing in the background.
9. Having all my bridesmaids and family around me before going to our ceremony just comforted me knowing that everyone was behind us during this union.
8. Seeing my dad in his tuxedo. This was a first for my dad - wearing a tux - so I felt so overwhelmed seeing him all spiffed up.
7. No Rain – Rain was forecasted during our wedding weekend. The rain started early in the morning and stopped just in time for our ceremony and reception.
6. Walking down the aisle. Though we had close to 200 guests watching us, all I could see was Mr. Gardenia waiting for me at the end of the aisle. He’s like that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Read more…

In honor of my childhood nights spent hibachi BBQing on the beach with my family, we are hosting a traditional New England Clambake for our reception.
It has been forever since our wedding but I never got around to sharing with you all what about the day I would do again, and what about the day I would do over.
Miss Peacock, ChicagoAge and Occupation: 26, PhD StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Internet WhizEngagement Date: December 5, 2006Wedding Date: September, 2008Blogging Since: December 13, 2007Venue: St. Clement Church, Cafe Brauer (or a big church wedding and a fancy party at a cafe in Lincoln Park.About Me: I am a grad student with a secret obsession for all things wedding related. I also love to read, travel, drink champagne and go for walks with our dog, Maisy, and Mr. Peacock. We are planning our very vintage wedding in the greatest city in the world, our hometown of Chicago. I am so proud to be a Bee!
Mr. Peacock and I went to a gorgeous wedding in St. Louis for two of my college friends last Labor Day weekend. Since most of their guests were out-of-towners, they had a whole weekend of festivities planned. Mr. Peacock and I stayed at the hotel where the wedding was located and, since it was a Marriott and Mr. Peacock collects Marriott points like sunshine, we had a lovely room down the hall from the concierge lounge. My friend’s family had booked the lounge for the entire weekend, filling it with homemade cookies (so very dangerous after a long night of “celebrating”), coffee, bottled water and occasionally some brewskis. There were also great maps of town and a welcome bag to help us fill our time that weekend. Unfortunately for Mr. Peacock, he was dragged around on the “this is what Miss Peacock did in college” tour and didn’t have time to take them up on any of their lovely suggestions.
Since we have been engaged, every wedding that we attend is filled with “hmmm.. could we do that?”, “should we do that?” or “oh my, I would never do that!” We had to have that concierge lounge. Mr. Peacock’s mom had already mentioned that she wanted to rent some kind of suite at our hotel for her grandkids to hang out in after they are done dancing. She wouldn’t mind if we used it for other reasons, we just needed to get it booked. Done and done. So… what else could we do with that big, lonely suite after the grandkids are in bed?

I design jewelry as a hobby and love to shop for jeans, shoes, and vintage furniture. I am a crazy mix of modern and traditional values, and I can't wait to marry my best friend and see where God will lead our lives together.
But sadly, they are getting to the end of their mini-moon. We decided to take seven days after the wedding away from home, to relax and be married! And now we are on our way back, where we will have to prepare at super speed for our six month honeymoon. But I also can’t wait to post all the details. We had such a fun night!

So, after a month of wonderful craziness–my wedding on Dec 8th, followed by an 11-day honeymoon in Mexico, followed by a week of holiday shopping and celebrating–we’re back!
The wedding was perfect!! Okay, so things went wrong (as they always do), but even with the little bumps in the road I wouldn’t change a thing. I can’t wait to share all the details, photos and odds & ends with you soon…
For now, here are a few pictures my Aunt & Uncle snapped…

I was trying to think of a funny acronym, but I couldn’t come up with one that sounded good. It is what it is. Wedding crap. With classes starting back up next week, it was finally time to tidy up all my wedding DIY materials, Christmas scrapbook and make room for textbooks and more wedding albums. Take a look.
Mrs. Gummi Bear, San FranciscoAge and Occupation: 25, Japanese Importer/IllustratorFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Game Developer/ProgrammerEngagement Date: April 15, 2006Wedding Date: October 13, 2007Blogging Since: June 19, 2007Venue: Organic farm an hour from San FranciscoAbout Me: I live for anthropologie, design blogs, sweets, japanese zakka, and vintage goods. We just bought our first home together and live with our two puppies and cat - it's a strange mixture of vintage, high-tech (we have 7 computers and 21 video game systems in all), and a whole lot of fur. Our wedding tries to embody the Japanese idea of "slow life", which is truly taking the time to enjoy food, company, and your environment!
A lot of people seem to want to know about the branches we used for our centerpieces, so here it is! We bought sandblasted manzanita from Nettleton Hollow and just laid the orchid blooms on the branches. That’s it! No glue, no wiring, they were just placed around the branches. I won’t say it was super fast since we had to do so many, but it was very very easy. Thanks to everyone who put them together for me - I was locked in the prep-room while it was put together.
This is how it looked on the table and on the guest book table:

Last Thursday, Mrs. Poppy, Mrs. Violet, Bridesmaid Lambchop and I got together for dinner and coffee. After seeing their new bobs, I was inspired to take the dive as well. I kept my hair on the long side for the last 2 years for the wedding. It was so refreshing when the hair stylist took 6-7 inches and began chopping away.
