I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

After deciding to upload all our wedding pics to flickr, instead of actually doing more of the thank you cards (shame on me!), I finally have all of our pictures. I still have a few hundred from my dad and other guests, but these will have to do for now.
First of all, looking through all these pictures while Mr. Kiwi watched the USC/UCLA game, I realized how incredibly blessed I am to have been able to marry him. I know, all ladies say how lucky they are, but somehow I think it was a bit of a miracle that I happened to find him. Like I’ve mentioned many times before, we dated ten years ago, and lasted only a few months. After a slew of ridiculous boyfriends and bad dates, I searched for him - and it took me years to finally track him down. You always hear about the one who got away, but it’s rare to hear about that “one” coming back. This is why I think it was a bit of serendipity that we managed to make it to our wedding day.
Now, to the pictures. The following pictures are from the ceremony, with a few posed shots.
Mrs. Corn, Newport, RIAge and Occupation in '07: 31, HR for public accounting firmFiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Consultant for public accounting firmEngagement Date: October 7, 2006Wedding Date: September, 2007Blogging Since: June 1, 2007Venue: North Lawn of Fort Adams State ParkAbout Me: I am a lazy scrapbooker who loves the instant gratification of making cards and I am very easily distracted by all things shiny. In honor of my childhood nights spent hibachi BBQing on the beach with my family, we are hosting a traditional New England Clambake for our reception.
I haven’t posted in a while, but last night I got to thinking about how Mr Corn and I have been married for almost three months now and, as cliche as it sounds, it feels like the wedding was forever ago.
Part of that stems from the fact that we got married at the end of summer; just after Labor Day weekend, and then were in Italy until late September. Soon Fall came, and in typical New England fashion, we have snow on the ground and although it is still technically Fall, it looks awfully winteresque outside. In other words…we have experienced the best of three seasons in only three months.

Currently I have been working on our lovely Thank You cards. Ever since I fell in love with these adorable stamps at Michael’s, I’ve been dying to use them!

I am calling our theme "Vintage Inspired French/Asian Fusion." Mr. Emerald is very involved in the planning process, but of course he generally defers to me cuz I have a strong opinion of how I want everything to be :-).
After Thanksgiving, I caught a nasty cold and was stuck veggin’ at home. The day of doing nothing led to numerous trips to the fridge. I couldn’t help it… that frozen block of foil-wrapped buttercream goodness kept calling out, “EAT ME!” So what did I do? DUH! I’ve been trying to resist its call for the past 3 months, but finally I caved in, defrosted it, and cut myself a tasty slice.
This is what I found when I unwrapped the layers of foil.

We just bought our first home together and live with our two puppies and cat - it's a strange mixture of vintage, high-tech (we have 7 computers and 21 video game systems in all), and a whole lot of fur. Our wedding tries to embody the Japanese idea of "slow life", which is truly taking the time to enjoy food, company, and your environment!
Originally, we hadn’t planned on having a ring bearer or a flower girl - neither of us had any nieces or nephews, nor did we know any children… or do we? It completely slipped my mind that my best friend from elementary school had two adorable, well behaved, awesome kids! So one phone call later, we decided that her son would pull his sister up the aisle in a radio flyer!

Mr. Caramel and I debated a few times on whether or not we wanted to do the traditional Korean ceremony. We kept thinking that we would do it for the few relatives traveling from Korea to see us get married. But after going to my cousin’s traditional Korean ceremony and seeing the big headache of arranging a whole other event on top of the wedding– we basically said “heck no, please.” Our parents were okay with whatever we wanted to do–they knew that we weren’t very traditional so they left the decision to us. (Yeah lucky us we had very non-demanding parents!)
At the last moment we decided to have one if we only invited very close family members. We held it at my parents’ house and it ended up being only about 25 people, which was perfect for us! It wasn’t crazy and it was comfortable and pretty painless. The whole thing took about 30 minutes and we got to eat delicious food afterwards! Plus we made a lot of extra money, which was helpful for our honeymoon.
If anyone is teetering on the idea of a traditional ceremony, I would really have to say that I’m glad we did it. You only get married once in your life– what’s one more thing? Plus you have pictures to remember the event and it might mean a lot to your relatives. We even got to tweak things around to make it more comfortable and less stressful.

Our fantabulous wedding videographer Chris Watson @ Dalls Wedding Films worked his magic. He was there for us from 5 am until 11 pm shooting - a long 18 hour day! He did a really great job capturing everything considering we had so many wardrobe changes and multiple venues. When we received both the hard copies and a link to preview the clip, we thought the video quality and editing were both quite good. But above all, we thought he was extremely professional. Also, his creative use of the video images blended well with our musical selections.
I’ve got 4 clips total so I will be posting one every day instead of bombarding you all in one post. As you can tell, I don’t like kissing (pda) in public - even on my wedding day. I’m one shy Apple.
Enjoy our morning tea ceremony.

Here are a few getting ready shots. My hair was in curlers for about 15 hours straight, which I must say isn’t the sexiest of looks. When my photographer and I went to the hotel bar to get a drink the night before the wedding, I looked like such a freak with my rollers, “Bride” tank, pj bottoms and lamb slippers.

*sigh* It was inevitable. They’re sneaking back with a vengence… I lost a total of 15 pounds before the wedding, 10 of which were lost during the last month when I was on the South Beach Diet. Oh, it wasn’t just for the sake of vanity (partly so, of course), but it was mostly due to necessity. I was the genius that bought a sample dress two sizes too small, but I loved it SO much I couldn’t let a little issue like FIT get in the way, heh heh heh.
But yes, let me be the millionth person to say that the South Beach Diet works wonders in the short term! Both Mr.E and I lost 10 pounds before the wedding, and it wasn’t absolute torture (ok, it was sometimes). But during the honeymoon, we just said, “To heck with it, let’s chow down!” and came back 5 pounds heavier. We had planned to go back on Phase One of South Beach after the honeymoon, but couldn’t bring ourselves to do it again… we just love food too much and lack the willpower to make a complete lifestyle change. I am notorious for my sweet tooth. I bet I can out-eat all of you when it comes to sugar/dark chocolate/desserts!

Hey everyone! The pictures are in, but I’m sick. Boo. I’m just going to post a few favorites I’ve downloaded to my work computer, and when I go home today, I’ll try to post more.
This is one taken of our rings on the cake topper on the cake. I can just smell the buttercream now. Well, if I could smell anything.
