While I’m waiting for the DVD of pro pics from our Saturday wedding, I thought I’d share the pics from our crazy, pink Chinese banquet. The person who documented the day was our videographer from our Saturday wedding. In the artistic sense, his pictures leave much to be desired. I was frustrated by the end of the night because we were asked to take about a billion cheesy, posed pictures. But now that we have the photographs back, I’m happy that we at least had someone there to document the event. He even made his way around the room to get table pictures of the guests during dinner.
The banquet was very different than our wedding on Saturday. It was loud, crowded, and pretty crazy. I mentioned before that I’m an introvert. Well, all the commotion was a little overwhelming to me. I found myself hiding in a the “bridal suite” (aka, a dark closet upstairs) for the first hour of the event. Guests ate dinner and left as quickly as possible. In fact, many of the attendees didn’t pay attention to the speeches or slideshow, grabbed more than one wedding favor out of the baskets, and left before dinner ended. It just felt like some just didn’t care much to be there. I predict it’s probably because most of the guests were our parents’ or grandparents’ friends and they have never met Mr. Eggplant or me before. It’s hard to care about a wedding when you don’t know the bride or groom.
Anyway, onto the pictures!

Reduce, reuse, recycle! We brought over a few flower balls from our Saturday wedding to reuse them in our decor.
We also reused our signage and candy buffet.
… for logging onto the chat with all the other bees - now I feel horribly guilty that I’m not blogging regularly! That and everyone now knows I’m not dead/sick/lost all my fingers to a horrible case of gangrene… that I’m fully capable of writing and just haven’t. I just want you to know it’s not you, it’s me.
So where are my professional photos!? Um, well, behind me on our credenza, waiting, in a box and a book and not currently accessible on my computer. This is entirely due to our laziness on not picking up the cd with our photos. But I owe it to you, so here are some photos our friends and family look of me looking like an idiot… err, I mean, looking elegant in my korean hanbok.
If you’re wondering why my outfit is not the same as before, my mother decided on the night before to change my hanbok, so that midnight trial run actually meant nothing. The Korean ceremony took place immediately after the first ceremony, I didn’t have any time to say hello as my aunt and mother grabbed my arms violently and dragged me inside to change.

Sorry I’ve been so “gone” lately! It seems like there isn’t much to blog about until you get your photos back! Now Mrs. Kiwi is here, a few of her photos uploaded and ready to post.
First, I want to talk about the children’s choir - they were amazing, and one of the things most complimented. I’ve mentioned before that Mr. Kiwi works as a teacher and coach at a Catholic school, with students who adore him. When a few former students were offered the chance to sing at our wedding, the few who couldn’t make it were actually in tears! Wow! These kids love Mr. Kiwi, I suppose!
Anyway, I must thank Maeve, the music coordinator who withstood agonizing back pain to help with our wedding. When the three of us met, Mr. K and I told her we really weren’t planning on a specific song or playlist for the ceremony- it was really up to her to decide- all I mentioned was that I loved the song “The Rose” (you may remember it from Napoleon Dynamite, when they were signing the words), and Death Cab for Cutie’s “I Will Follow you Into the Dark” (and that I wanted Pachebel’s song to play as I went down the aisle).
Mr. Caramel and I had a wonderful first Thanksgiving together! It was very odd in many ways because nothing we did was very traditional, and everything was last minute. However, there were moments when we were able to share the things we were thankful for. 2007 has been a very memorable year for us since our engagement, our wedding planning process, our wedding and our first holiday season together was all in the same year!
I am thankful that:
-our wedding wasn’t a disaster! In fact, the ceremony was everything we wanted it to be!
-we still text message and email each other that we miss each other throughout the day
-our families didn’t clash or kill each other
-our new, humble apartment is finally coming together (tossing out hundreds of boxes everyday finally paid off!)
-we both have best friends who threw us the most memorable bachelorette/bachelor party ever!
-we had no problems traveling to Italy (luggage, finances, food poisoning, etc)
-our transition from engagement to marriage has been extremely comfortable and not awkward or frustrating
-for our gorgeous wedding pictures… It really was worth it to pay for a great professional photographer.
-for the Weddingbee! I love this site and everything it does. All the advice, links, deep thoughts, cute ideas and bonding experiences really made my wedding process so much more fun!
a kiss to the Weddingbee!

Shame on me! It has been a month since my wedding and this is what I’ve done with my dress:

The poor thing is laying on my bedroom floor, uncleaned and neglected.

I can’t believe it has already been a month of marriage!
Mr. Eggplant surprised me yesterday and took me out to celebrate our first month of newlywed bliss. We had a delicious meal at Clementine, a wonderful little French restaurant in the Richmond district of San Francisco. The food and service was excellent. We’ll definitely be visiting again soon.

Mr. Eggplant snapped a picture of me while we were waiting for our food.
This time last year, we were in St. Lucia for our honeymoon! When we arrived at the airport, we noticed right away that it resembled the Piton Mountains for which the island is famous.

We were whisked away from the chapel in my Dad’s most excellent and award winning hot rod (complete with matching purple car magnets that my mom magically found) to the reception which was a short 5-minute drive away.
Back in the good old days before I became wedding-centric, I used to play my cello almost every day. It was always there for me and ready to work whenever I needed it to. Sure, there have been some broken strings and wolf notes along the way, but overall it was a dependable old friend. Sadly, we started to grow apart as I found myself more and more immersed in the crazy world of wedding planning.
…and look what became of my cello! A fine hand-carved German instrument suffered the indignity of becoming the place where I pile my clothes. I didn’t even take my cello out of the case for almost four full months! Poor thing.

Mr. Pumpkin and his BM looked great that day! Malibar Tuxedos has been a staple in Regina for many years and the reason that they are so successful is that they provide high quality tux rentals at a very reasonable price! We were delighted with the service that we received from them and my boys looked great! What more can a girl ask for? A+
Our photographer, Alberto from Duet Wedding did a wonderful job at our wedding. His team not only took a ton of great photos, many were taken without my noticing! Mr. Violet & I both agree that Duet earns an A (despite being a laid back bride, I can be quite critical sometimes so I didn’t give Duet an A+ because I believe there’s always room for improvement). We received a box loaded with proofs, along with a CD of full resolution originals & edited photos.
My wedding dress problems have been well documented on Weddingbee but I was fairly happy with how it all turned out in the end. My dress, my MOH’s dress and my Mom’s dress all came from a wonderful shop in Regina called NWL. I can’t say enough great things about NWL and it’s owner Nadia Williamson - she was so fantastic throughout my whole wedding dress fiasco and her shop has the most unique dresses in Regina.
My MOH’s dress was exactly what I wanted and we bought it off the rack for $50! My mom’s dress was not quite as easy but when we finally figured out what we wanted, we went to see Nadia and she ordered in the perfect dress for us. Finally, when I went to Nadia with my original dress, she knew that it was not right and gave me a fantastic deal on a new dress and veil. Her personalized service is unparalleled in the wedding dress shops in Regina and as I said, she carries dresses that no one else in Regina has. I would (and do!) recommend NWL to everyone! A+++
Now, some pics of me and my MOH in our dresses throughout the day:
