A big chunk of my life has been split between NYC and Connecticut, and I'm finally heading down south to live with Mr. Marmalade. Our long distance relationship has been one adventure after the next, we've spent time in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia, thanks to his military career. Next to Mr. Marmalade, my loves include live music, useless trivia, shoes, design, and my crazy half-tiger kitty, Oliver. I have a passion for food and wine, and I've been known to travel long distances to get my hands on the best meals. I come from a tight-knit big fat Greek Ecuadorian family---we're loud, we talk with our hands, and we spend hours talking loudly with our hands over large meals. I'm going to miss them so much as I pack up and begin my life, far away from home. But with Mr. Marmalade by my side, I'm ready to take on whatever may come. Next up: our wedding!
But I don’t push people to challenge themselves like Ms. Norburry. No, I’m a full-blown pusher of addictions. It was an accident, swear. But in sharing the struggle to find a videographer with BM KuBee, I may have caused her to be hooked on wedding trailers. Gasp.
Seriously, KuBee has emailed me links to videos and written things like:
“Oh my gosh, girl, I’ve been lying in bed watching trailers all day! Check out ‘Cindy and Mark.’ It’s my favorite—just wait until the 0:30 mark.”
I really love this girl. Talk about supportive! To be fair, she may have already been in bed, nursing a hangover. But still. KuBee—this post is for you.

Before the wedding, I got really really nervous about the progress of my to-do list. I felt like I was really far behind in the planning process, so I grabbed my friend Moro and headed to our local Bella Bridesmaid to figure out what my ladies would wear.
My main objective was to decide on the Two Birds convertible dresses that I’d been obsessing over, but I got sidetracked by a couple other lovelies.
She likes it! Full disclosure: I was tempted to buy one of these for myself to have on hand.
I tried on “Rocket” by Simple Silhouettes, and by “try on” I mean I hammed it up for the camera. Since I’ll be posting more pictures of myself from here on out, I should mention that I cannot take myself seriously when posing for pictures.

After we changed our reception venue, our ceremony site became a no-brainer. When I told Mr. M that we had signed with Highlands, the first thing he said was, “We can get married in the Old Cadet Chapel now. Call them up!”

The post-wedding chop, or PWC, is when a bride grows her hair out for her wedding day and then drastically changes her hairstyle immediately afterward. A chop, if you will…
But what about a good ole “pre-wedding chop”? Because if you’re like me and had an 18-month-long engagement, you might’ve started to look like this before your big day:

These gorgeous plates from West Elm go way beyond Thanksgiving for me. I wanted to take that font (”typeface” for you design sticklers) and slap it onto our invites. I was having a bunch of trouble finding a font that was swirly and swash-y enough for me. Read more…

I’d had my heart set on a family style meal since we started planning our wedding. While the menu may have changed from a New England seaside feast to a more locally-focused meal (Hudson Valley), I still really wanted a family style meal.

This dress gave me some serious dress regret. The style, the sophistication, the PRICE. By the time I found it it was too late, and anyway, I loved my dress.
But if I could go try this baby on right now, it would be hard to resist.

At this point in my life, gloves are only to be worn in the winter and are to be made of wool or lined in cashmere. But growing up, my mom would buy us frilly socks, hats, and gloves. I miss those days right now, and I wish I could have rocked a sweet pair of gloves for the wedding. But, July is not glove weather. And I’m not sure how gloves like these would’ve worked with my engagement ring on my wedding day.

You know, I tried to be really practical when wedding-shoe shopping. But it kept feeling like every time I eyed some more economical heels, something outrageous and beautiful would come along to divert me from my goal.
Enter Neiman Marcus and their shoooooes! Take a look:

After BM Cuz’s wedding, it was time for me to take off my MOH hat and put it away. It was also my time to sit down and try to process all the things that I learned from her wedding day (before I forgot).

According to Style.com, the show was inspired by a hope chest that a bride might pack. And the story behind the makeup? Well, according to Pat McGrath (via Allure.com), the makeup artist, “The story was a girl who goes to get married and then runs away.”
Well, I was with her right up to the “runs away” part.
