Mrs. Cookie, DenverAge and Occupation: 25, Nonprofit Fundraiser/Theatre DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Financial AnalystEngagement Date: September 2007Wedding Date: September 2008Blogging Since: May 8, 2008Venue: Ten Mile StationAbout Me: With a degree in Theatre I never realized that planning a wedding was a lot like Theatre Management, until I started planning my own. I am a coffee addict, especially Starbucks' Grande Mochas, yummy! I love to cook (especially chocolate chip cookies for my honey), travel to exotic places, and be creative. As a couple, Mr. Cookie and I are extremely practical, down to earth, and children at heart. We live in a cozy abode with our adorable Pomeranian, and love to play board games and watch movies into the evening.
My apologizes to all vegetarians, but Mr. Cookie and I like to eat meat! We are a meat and potatoes kind of couple. There is nothing better for dinner than a good steak (medium rare) or a slab of pork spare ribs and all the fixings: corn dripping with butter, corn bread also dripping with butter, potato salad and baked beans. It’s a heart attack waiting to happen, but we love to eat it — once in awhile. Yummy! Read more…
Mrs. Cream Puff, San Francisco Bay AreaAge and Occupation: 25, IllustratorFiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Merchandise PlannerEngagement Date: May 27, 2007Wedding Date: August, 2008Blogging Since: February 7, 2008Venue: Ceremony at Crissy Field and Reception at the Green RoomAbout Me: I never dreamed about my wedding as a little girl because I was too busy playing in the mud or pretending to be Martha Stewart–but now that it's here, I'm having a fabulous time DIYing everything in sight! We’re planning a very fun multicultural wedding (I'm Jewish and Mr. Cream Puff is Chinese), filled with as many personal details as I can muster.
The main thing we’re going for with this wedding is FUN. And also multicultural. We really want the wedding festivities to be a reflection of who we are, and we want to show people a good time…so when it came to planning the rehearsal dinner and day-after brunch, the first thing I thought of was a Chinese Dinner and Bagels n’ Lox Breakfast. Sadly, finding a location for a bagel brunch in San Francisco is kind of hard…so we’re just going to have a regular brunch. However, we still really liked the idea of having chinese food for dinner.
Planning the rehearsal dinner has been kind of funny. Seeing as how Mr. Cream Puff’s parents are Chinese, they know all the great authentic Chinese places in the bay area. However, we also have to consider the fact that the majority of the out-of-town guests are from my family, so feeding a bunch of Jews shark fin soup and sea cucumbers might not go over well. Plus, most of their favorite restaurants are in Oakland Chinatown, and we couldn’t ask people to come all the way from the city to Oakland for dinner.
Then we came across this place, which is right smack in San Francisco’s Chinatown:

In my Philadelphia abode, I create mixed media artwork and one-of-a-kind home accessories in the company of my farmer-tanned fiancé, our Westiepoo (Betty White), our three rabbits (Cadbury, Willie Nelson and Applesauce) and our two frisky chinchillas (Ethel Funk and Maude).
For our rehearsal dinner, which will take place on the eve of our wedding, we’ve decided to go with the super delicious Japanese & Thai restaurant, Teikoku!

Speaking of our rehearsal dinner, I am totally excited about our location. Mr. Peacock and I had wanted to do pizza and beer. We were having a hard time finding a place with a room large enough to accommodate our group- and where we loved the pizza. We are pizza snobs. We are from Chicago, it’s in our genes.
After organizing a fundraiser for work at Southport Lanes in Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood, we changed our minds on the pizza idea. It is a little bar and restaurant which also has a private room with four small bowling lanes. It is totally old school with human pin setters. The pin setters love tips and they will either help or hurt your game based on the quality of your tipping (or if they think you are cute). These guys are hilarious. My stomach hurt from laughing and I had mascara running down my face. It is also in a great part of town that tourists don’t normally get to see. Southport Avenue, between Belmont and Addison, is home to an awesome little strip of shops, restaurants and my favorite nail salon. Read more…

As I mentioned in a previous post, Mr. Peacock and I sit on opposite sides of the political spectrum. We are both very interested in politics (we met working for a politician) and with the current never-ending election cycle, we have had a lot to talk about. Since our wedding falls just a few months before the election, we couldn’t help but include something political in the wedding festivities. Mr. Peacock has happily taken control of the rehearsal dinner and is looking forward to giving it an election theme. The only input I gave is that I would love for it to be vintage- i.e. Kennedy v. Nixon, not Bush v. Gore- and that we be on the same ticket. Elephants and donkeys, working together. Done and done.
Mr. Peacock is a little protective over his ideas, so I can’t give too many details, but I promise to share photos later! Here are a few hints as to what we are planning…

Trying to plan a wedding in a new city, not to mention a new country, is tough, but the fact that we can get legally married here more than makes up for it! The wedding will be an opportunity for most of our family and friends to see our new city for the first time so it will be both a wedding and a reunion. Besides my future wife, I am also madly in love with a good bargain, Swedish pastries, Tivo, and my two dogs and calico cat (in no particular order).
Obviously, I’m looking forward to my wedding day, but what I’m really excited about is the day before the wedding! Since we only recently moved to Vancouver, most of our guests haven’t seen where we live, so we’ve decided to do a BBQ/housewarming /rehearsal dinner! All of our guests will be invited.

I’m nothing short of obsessed with wedding planning, and am loving the do-it-yourself madness that has now taken over my life! As for me, I’m a craft-loving, martini-drinking, girly-girl who loves traveling, photography, my schnauzer, and above all, spending time with Mr. Tiramisu.
Weddings, I realize, are about more than just the bride. Of course there is the oft-overlooked groom to consider, but Mr. Tiramisu almost always graciously takes a backseat when it comes to wedding decisions. This leaves just: the family. Oh yes, just the family. Read more…

Mr. Cupcake’s parents will graciously be hosting our rehearsal dinner, so the research started many months ago to find the perfect location. FMIL Cupcake is eternally excited about all of the wedding details, so it has been fun to have her involved in this aspect of the festivities.
I have mentioned that Mr. Cupcake and I are both old souls, and we adore old places with an antique vibe and lots of character. His mom decided to focus on finding a place that was an old Inn or had an Inn type of atmosphere for the RD. In historical Chester County, Pennsylvania, this isn’t too difficult of a task! It was just a matter of finding the right one. Mr. Cupcake is also a major history buff, so he really liked the idea of having our rehearsal dinner at a place with some history.
After lots and lots of Googling, emailing restaurants for menus and specifics, and asking around, we narrowed our search down to a great place called The Ship Inn in Exton, PA.
