Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CAAge and Occupation: 27, Law StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force PilotEngagement Date: February 21, 2009Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill WineryAbout Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
You’ve been introduced to our Flower Dog, and today I wanted to introduce you to our adorable ring bearers! They are Mr. Jelly’s adorable nephews, who are 3 and 1. Even though I’ve known they would be our ring bearers for a while, I recently called them to ask them officially. I had wanted to ask them in person, but totally neglected to do so last time I saw them.
So, I just did it over the phone when I was talking to their mom (my bridesmaid and Mr. Jelly’s sister-in-law). Ring bearer #1 said yes, and graciously accepted on behalf of his little brother, too. It was really cute. I don’t even think he knows what being a ring bearer means but I am very excited to have these beautiful boys as part of our wedding! We love them so much!
Here we are at Thanksgiving. Uncle Jelly, Ring bearer #1, Ring bearer #2, and me
Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San DiegoAge and Occupation: 28, ProfessorFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, InstructorEngagement Date: December 20, 2008Wedding Date: August 2010Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood RestaurantAbout Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
Miss Stripes’ post on the blogosphere’s battle and interpretation of “blog-worthy” weddings really compelled me to take a deeper look into my wedding planning fanaticism.
I have openly proclaimed my love for photography and stalker-like behavior that has produced such series as the “So YouWanttobe aModel” and “thePhotoChecklist“. And like most brides, I want my wedding to be pretty. Sitting back and thinking about it, I realized that the sentiment is equally important. And even though we’re including a lot of “us” in our ceremony and throughout… I have realized that I need more.

About Me: I am a tree-huggin' farmer turned enthusiastic wedding-planner. I live in a house truck and wear flip-flops more often than shoes. In my old life I was a high school Spanish teacher in love with a crazy guy who lived off-the grid on a farm in New Hampshire. But, we decided to mix things up a bit, quit our jobs and move to New Zealand. My southern hemisphere lifestyle involves growing veggies, teaching, running our small non-profit, and surfing. I love laughing, singing, playing, and the inspirational Mr. Veggie (of course!). For our wedding, I am committed to throwing a killer party that celebrates our values without breaking the bank. Look forward to an eco-thrifty summer-campy weekend-long extravaganza.
Introducing the youngest members of our bridal party: our nieces and nephews. On his side: Scotty, age 6, Brady (who will be 5 by the wedding), and Mikey (who turns 1 the week after the wedding).

I love wine, cooking, curling up with a good book (nerd alert!), spoiling the furbaby, and of course, the wonderful Mr. Buttons! We are planning a lighthearted and whimsical wedding (with a good deal of DIY projects) in Clearwater, Florida, but from a distance of 800 miles away! We are looking forward to sharing our day with our family and friends, and most importantly, starting our lives together as husband and wife!
Sometimes the tiniest details involved with the wedding day can turn into my favorites!
Do you want to see what I mean?
I hadn’t put much thought into our ring bearer pillow until recently… I figured I’d DIY one when the wedding date drew closer. I’m such a slacker! But then, by some stroke of luck, BusyButtons came into my life…
It is only a coincidence that we share a “button” moniker, but I have to think that destiny brought us together for that very reason…
Go check out Tracy’s (aka BusyButtons) Etsy shop and see the beautiful custom ring pillows she creates! I know you’ll love them just as much as I do…

My hobbies include sleeping in, seasonal brews, running, Trader Joe’s, and watching Unwrapped and Good Eats with Mr. Potato Chips. I harbor an irrational fear of tulle, crafts, things that are fussy, and overuse of the phrase "Your Special Day". After a year or seven together, down the aisle we go, slouching toward adulthood and planning a Rhodie party with equal parts whimsy, cheer, and pizza.
Like Miss Pretzel, my preferred footwear is a pair of these:
I even rock my Chuck Taylors when I teach, paired with a blazer and dress pants. (Yeah, I’ve totally given up the illusion that I’m any sort of authority figure. Or the sneaks bring me one step closer towards that absent-minded, crazy-haired, ink-stained-missing-buttoned-leather-elbow-patched professor I’m so bent on becoming.)
Dare I say, the sneaker-with-dress-clothes combo is becoming increasingly popular? I’ve seen lots of inspiration photos of groomsmen in Chucks (jealous!) and the sneakers-with-nice-clothes is even in the pages of the ‘Crew!

I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
Woo hoo!! I got a very exciting package in the mail this past weekend! I ordered way too many things last week (stamps, ink pads, Halloween costume, out of town guests bags, and the list goes on and on), so every day was like Christmas at my mailbox. I’m still waiting on a lot of those items, but I got one item I’ve been waiting on for the past couple weeks. It was our ring bearer bowls from Paloma’s Nest!!
Before I even knew who our ring bearers were, I knew I wanted one of these bowls. And then once I asked two sweet little boys to be in the wedding, I had to get two of them. This was really great because I was having a hard time deciding on just one phrase to put in them. Finally I decided on two great phrases, but for budget reasons I went with one custom bowl and one pre-existing.
So, on to the fun part: the pictures! Here’s what it looked like when I opened up the package:
And then I opened those up as quickly as I could and saw this: Read more…

We are complete opposites, resulting in a wedding to include bridesmaids in pearls and groomsmen in Adidas shell toes. I’m a sorority girl at heart with strong addictions to my blackberry, cherry Chapstick, Coach purses, the Boston Red Sox and our fur baby, Bella. I can’t wait to the throw the party of our lives and of course, marry my best friend!
My parents lived in the same house for most of my life, up until a few years ago when they moved back to Massachusetts. When you live somewhere for that long, there is a good chance that your neighbors become more like family. We were no exception, and I grew up with a pseudo big sister who is about six years older then me. I’m pretty sure she was still in high school when I informed her for the first time that I was going to eventually need both a flower girl and ring bearer for my wedding and I was counting on her to make that happen. She always just laughed at me, especially when I told her husband of this request on their wedding day. Sure enough, three years ago they had a little girl who I absolutely adore. And then less than two years ago they rounded it off with a bouncing baby boy who I also fell in love with at first sight.
Our ring bearer (who we will call little man, because he really does look like a little man!) is still pretty young; he will be only 20 months on the big day. People started warning me early on, here we are having an adult only affair and I was expecting a BABY to go down the aisle. But I was determined. My two favorite kiddos were going to be there. And I just knew little man would be walking, quite well even, down the aisle (we had a pep talk when he was a few months old, and I took his silence as an agreement that he would be good to go). So I already talked about what we want the flower girls to wear, and I thought it was only fair that I also talk about the ring bearer boys, too! The flower girls were easy, but the ring bearers were harder for me. I knew that I wanted them in something semi-casual but still somewhat wedding-ish, which proved to be a little difficult to find. And then I stumbled on Velvet and Tweed, and everything I was looking for was on those pages. I wanted to get the boys some linen-type pants, but not fully linen, because I thought that might be too beachy. Well, enter the cotton and linen mix:
Do you see those suspenders? I know they are a little nerdy, but I also think they are so cute! Read more…

I don’t think we’ll go with the traditional ring bearer pillows for our wedding. I’d like to do something different, and there are so many cute options available. I saw this in Martha Stewart Weddings and love it.
There was even a tutorial, but let’s be real, I don’t know how to sew, so the best I can do is go to Michaels, buy a pillow, a flower, and a hot glue gun. This could get messy. But I really like that I could essentially customize them for our wedding with any colors, flowers, etc. This also seems totally inexpensive. Read more…
Mrs. Sprinkle, Los AngelesAge and Occupation: 26, Preschool Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Television Production/WriterEngagement Date: December 24, 2008Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: The Marvimon HouseAbout Me: I'm a Bay Area native trying to create a life for myself (and my fiance, and our three cats!) in the vast city of Los Angeles. I love vegan red velvet cupcakes, pilates ,and mid-century furniture. Mr. Sprinkle and I met when my band toured through his city (we bonded over cake and a mutual love of Morrissey) and we are getting married on the four year anniversary of our first date. When I am not teaching preschool (or blogging!) you can find me perfecting recipes, petting kittens, hiking in Griffith Park, and overusing exclamation points. We are planning a vegan, green-as-possible, DIY wedding, and I couldn't be more excited to share all of the details!
For a long while before I was a preschool teacher, I was a nanny! I nannied for a few families over the years, and I still keep in touch with all of them. Our ring child is my former charge. Lil’ Sprinkle is one of the most spectacular, amazing people I have ever met (big or small). He seriously brightens my day whenever I see him.
I really wanted him to have something special to carry down the aisle. I just didn’t think a pillow would cut it, and as much as I love those ring warmer bowls, they seemed a bit fragile for a five year old. I decided the perfect compromise would be a book. A hollowed out book. So I went about hollowing out a book myself and it was a DISASTER! Project: Fail. The piece is so ugly that I can’t even show it to you. I won’t even let myself look at it.
Now I am looking for alternative solutions. I have a few ideas. Perhaps just have him carry a small drawstring pouch. Or a book tied up with string. Or one of these items I already have:
Small paper bag with a gold leaf print? Simple, easy, casual. Read more…

Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Ralston Hall MansionAbout Me: I'm a food-and-baking-obsessed, occasionally sword wielding Bay Area native who is quickly becoming overwhelmed with planning a wedding and opening a law practice at the same time. (Brilliant move, that one.) I love reading, online shopping, ice cream, my Macbook, Bollywood movies, hoodies, the UCLA Bruins, and of course, Mr. Dew Drop.
Have I mentioned yet that I’m an auntie now? If I haven’t, it must be because I’m too busy shouting it out the windows and blabbing it to casual passers-by. I’m so, so excited!
My sister’s twins, a girl A and a boy K, will be just about seven months old when I get married.
I’m sure it’s not hard to guess my first thought on this: Clearly they need matching outfits.
Problem #1: It is impossible to find dressy clothes for baby boys.
Why is this? Do clothing manufacturers really think parents take their baby girls to fancy events but leave their boys behind???
Okay, okay, so it was easy to find white christening outfits and velvet wintertime dressy outfits. But how was that going to help me for a September wedding?
But eventually I came up with a few options that I thought might work:
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CAAge and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain PatrolEngagement Date: February 25, 2009Wedding Date: January 2010Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ RanchAbout Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
Another Etsy seller to love! As usual, Esty is a never-ending ocean of gorgeous ideas for projects and finds for weddings. I don’t really know how many favorites sellers I have there, but, gosh!! every time I run into cute finds, I drool all over the keyboard.
Mrs. Star, New York CityAge and Occupation: 22, ActressFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Casting AssistantWedding Date: October 2009Venue: Ceremony: The Kraine Theatre, Reception: Midtown Loft & TerraceAbout Me: I’m a professional actress who’s always had New York City in her blood and I'm finally getting the chance to make a home in Manhattan with my fiancé, my dog, and my big dreams! I love polka dots, craft projects, Dunkin’ Donuts’ iced coffee, and anything sparkly. I’m having a blast planning our elegant/dramatic/New York City/acting-themed/largely-DIY wedding and am thrilled to be the youngest current Miss Blogger!
Mr. Star and I have been lucky enough to have had exactly zero wedding-related fights throughout our nearly two year engagement. This is probably because, quite frankly, Mr. Star has been the ideal groom: supportive, interested, terribly excited, and willing to let me craft the wedding into pretty much exactly what I’ve been envisioning.
So when he has an idea that he’s really got his little heart set on, I just can’t turn him down.
Enter: Etsy seller FirstComesLove. We were trolling the wedding vendors on Etsy together one night, early on in the planning stages (I did this a lot, in addition to looking at wedding-related blogs, which helped me enormously in creating a vision). We came across FirstComesLove’sring bearer pillows, which are gorgeous. After a few clicks, Mr. Star pointed to a tiny little doggie-sized ring bearer pillow. The conversation went something like this:
Mr. Star: Aww, look how cute that is! A dog ring bearer would be adorable.
Mrs. Bunny, ColumbusAge and Occupation: 24, Associate Editor/ReporterFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, ReporterEngagement Date: September 23, 2008Wedding Date: July 2009Venue: Everal Barn, WestervilleAbout Me: Organized, but messy. I love art (all kinds). I don't have any secrets. I talk a lot and listen even more. I show love by baking. I'm timid by nature, but brave when it counts.
Mr. Bunny and I work at competing weekly newspapers, which makes it a little interesting trying to describe our work joys and frustrations without giving away too much before the paper comes out. In spite of that little hurdle, we've managed to build a pretty solid relationship in the short one-and-a-half years we will have been together when we tie the knot. I can't wait!
