I’ve already told you about the thoughtful wedding present from the hubs. Since he had to give it to me a week prior to the wedding so I could enjoy them before the honeymoon, I gave him one of his wedding presents at the same time in exchange:
We have a little tradition to get a Christmas ornament that marks each year. I love that this teapot ornament is shaped much like our monogram - a subtle way to pay our wedding year a little tribute, and it’s something we will keep and use for years to come.

Uhm, I’ve lost my internal tracking device system that allows me to locate any and all electronic items throughout my house. This seems to have begun as soon as the boxes and boxes of lovely wedding gifts started arriving and cluttering up my house - not to mention the boxes of wedding supplies in every nook and cranny. This seems to be the reason behind why I cannot, for the life of me, find the camera that holds the photos from my last fitting.
No worries - I’m not going to leave you hanging here. Of course not! Instead, I simply waited a week for the next episode - my most recent fitting that occurred just yesterday. Keep in mind that we’ve jumped from the yellow sample fabric, right up to a finalized design. There are only minor fittings to do now, including the simple bustle that Carole has dreamed up.

A year ago yesterday (I think it was yesterday, maybe it’s today…) I came home from work and these Casablanca Lilies, my favorite bloom, were waiting for me. Coincidentally, there was a trail of ants in the kitchen, which I got right to cleaning up. Read more…

When I first became engaged, I discovered that I had some pretty amazing people in my life. Not that I wasn’t aware of this beforehand, but in these crazy moments of wedding planning, it tends to become amplified. One of my most favorite and amazing engagement presents was the offer by one of my mom’s friends (who I’ve called Auntie Sue for most of my life) to give Mr. Pom and I ballroom dance lessons. Auntie Sue used to work at Arthur Murray - so these aren’t just any free lessons - they were professional lessons.

So, I’ve admitted that I’m a bit of a shopping fanatic, yes? This wedding has amplified my not-so wallet-friendly habits quite a bit. I’m starting to have a hard time not buying everything (even non-wedding related purchases) in the colors black, white and moss green. So when I went dress shopping for bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and other wedding-related events, you can probably guess that I encountered the very same dilemma.
Macy’s clearance racks has been a veritable gold mine as of recent, and the Labor Day sales proved very worthy of my time. I pulled lots of dresses off the racks and dragged them into the dressing room with me. Most of my current dresses were either nightclub or black-tie worthy - and not the feminine dresses one would wear to a bridal shower. In fact, I’m not used to wearing the shapes I was looking at - so I used the technique that always helps me figure out if something looks good: I take pictures of myself with my digital camera. Whew! With only a few weeks to go, things have been uber-busy in the Pomegranate residence! I’ve been working on finishing up a few big projects - namely our CD favors - and I’m rather excited to show them to you. Our Jewelboxing kit definitely made a complicated project much less difficult to complete - but I must warn you, before you take on creating 150 of these puppies, I will say it’s not for the faint of heart. Let’s just say I could really empathize with Miss Shortcake and her Letter to the Printer.

Being a videographer myself, it’s funny to think that videography was not really important to us at our wedding. While we hired a friend that was a professional videographer (who did not specialize in weddings), we never really considered videography to be something that was “worth it”.
That is, not until we caught a glimpse of the amazing work of the Canadian videographers over at Still Motion! I (and many others!) oohed and ahhed over Mrs. Milkshake’s same-day edit by Still Motion, and since they’ve been blogged about before, I don’t have to go on about their incredible work, but I DO want to share this awesome trash the dress video session of my good friend Griffen and her new husband Curtis. While the trash the dress photo shoot is not new to any of us, this is the first time I’ve seen a TTD video, and it takes the concept to a whole new level!

Now that the mister has explained theplanning of our two-part honeymoon, it is time to show you the results. Despite our worries, the weather was great (no sign of hurricanes!) and Labor Day crowds were thin. I know honeymoon posts aren’t super exciting to read unless you’re interested in visiting the same places, so I’ll just overload you with pictures and include some key tips for the ’moon planners out there who may benefit from them.
Our first stop was the Grand Bahamas Island where we swam with, hugged, and kissed (on the lips!) dolphins… Read more…

OK, so if you read my last post, you know that I planned for us to take a cruise to the Bahamas… during Hurricane season. I knew there could have been problems going into it, so I did at least ask the advice of the unbiased operator at the cruise line. She assured me that if there was a hurricane, the ship could out-run the storm. While it was of some comfort that we wouldn’t be in harm’s way, the amount fun that we would have was now in question. I knew that I would never say, “Hurray for four days stuck on a ship!” Being on the ship was already the least exciting prospect of the cruise, so we needed another plan. What else is there to do in Florida?
My first thought was of the Everglades. I looked into it, and found that while they are open 365 days a year, “During the slow wet season (summer), facilities may have restricted hours or close altogether, and recreational opportunities may be at a minimum.”* There was no way that we were going there, only to possibly miss the best parts of the park.
