San Antonio is a really fun place to have a honeymoon, or even a mini-moon for all the Texas bees out there. The sun is always shining and the people are always smiling. The weather is great most of the year, but it can get REALLY hot during the summer, so make sure to pack your swimsuit if you’re going to travel then. Mr. PF and I love to play tourist in our own city, but if we were going to do it up big, this is what we would do…

Since Mr. PF and I have been engaged for almost two years, you can bet your bottom dollar I have heard a lot of wedding talk. Needless to say, nothing surprises me anymore, so I decided to put together a silly list that I’m sure we can all relate to.

After the bouquet and garter were appropriately tossed and more dancing and debauchery were had, the night began to wind down. Certain groomsmen also went missing towards the end of the evening… Read more…

Admittedly I have rather questionable taste in television programming. My DVR is chock full of every installment of the Housewives series, I watched the hell out of RuPaul’s Drag U, I may or may not have a countdown clock set for the next season of the Rachel Zoe Project, and I’m far too excited about Ice Loves Coco.
However, despite all of this I never got into the Bachelor/Bachelorette…until this season. And the kicker? Mr. L happily watches along side of me. So why the sudden interest in one of televisions most riveting and quality programs? Is it because of Ashley’s amazing fashion sense? Has my little black heart finally warmed to the idea that one can find true love on national television? Um, no. It’s all because of this guy:

After the bouquet toss we kept the tradition train rolling and geared up for the dreaded garter toss. I say dreaded as during the planning this was one of those rituals that I really could have done without. I mean, how bizarre is it to have your new husband all up in your business in front of your grandparents?! Not exactly demure. That said, Mr. L is all about rites of passage such as this and since I put the big ’ol kibosh on the money dance, I figured I’d let him have this one :).
I honestly have no idea what song played while we went about our garter retrieving and throwing business. I doubt anyone else who was present does either…

We recently held a low-key couple’s shower for our dear friends M and J who will wed this coming weekend. Our lovely friend A co-hosted with us and helped me plan and execute our Fiesta themed stock the bar party. This was actually the first shower I’ve ever planned and thrown (outside of assisting with my very own bridal tea) and I was pleased as (sangria) punch that it came together so smoothly.
A created an adorable Evite to send to all of the guests. We chose to go this route to keep the vibe casual yet festive and I loved the way it turned out: Read more…

The bouquet toss. Hmmm. I really thought about this one and if we would be partaking in the action. On the one hand it’s a bit dated and somewhat awkward but it’s also uber-traditional and kinda sweet.
Ultimately we went for it and the equally traditional and awkward garter toss (up next…). We played these fun games after the band’s first set. Since the band was taking a break, GM Seth stepped up and emceed the affair.

I know the photobooth has become a bit of a wedding cliche and I totally don’t care. We had a blast and our guests enjoyed a quasi-arts and crafts interactive activity. Read more…

Aside from choosing each other (duh), the best decision we made was hiring a live band to play our reception. Read more…

Hello! Once upon a time I was a wedding blogger called Mrs. Lemonade. I told the story of a lovely April afternoon that occurred not-so long ago. If you’ll kindly indulge me I’d like to finish telling my tale…
Ah, the first dance. This little wedding rite of passage gave me a decent amount of anxiety leading up to W day. The mister and I chose not to take any sort of dance lessons and not once did we practice our middle school sway. What can I say, we’re naturals.

I used to smoke. I drink coffee by the gallon and almost as much red wine. Thus, my pearly whites aren’t so… pearly. I also have very sensitive teeth that cause me to shudder in pain just thinking about bleaching trays and strips. That said, I’m decently vain and dream of having a bright glowing smile on W day (heck, every day would be nice). So, what’s a sensitive girl to do? Enter the Sonicare toothbrush, one of my inanimate best friends:

Mr. L and I headed home to SA once again this past weekend. The mission for this trip: to finalize lighting decisions. Surprisingly, Mr. L has been very involved in the design and decision making for our event lighting.
We arrived at Oak Hills around 1PM to meet with the onsite coordinator. It was so bizarre walking through the stately doors into the (usually conservatively decorated) lobby. It was mass pandemonium everywhere as dozens of workers were setting up various pieces of décor for a Mardi Gras themed event to be held that evening. There were beads and feathers EVERYWHERE and the place was covered in purple, green, and gold fabric, heavy on the lame’. Wow. I only wish I had thought to take pictures for y’all – it was so incredibly over the top!
Anyhow, we moved into the ballroom with the events coordinator and immediately got to work discussing ceiling tiles, extension cords, and inconspicuous plugs – snooze. I found this portion of the day incredibly boring, but Mr. L seemed to be loving all the handyman talk as he diligently took notes to report back to our lighting company. I attempted to envision our setup since we don’t make tons of trips to the Club. Unforch, with the festive and bright décor I was having a really hard time picturing our understated ivory and gold touches. Oh well.
Once Mr. L had finished discussing logistics, we moved on to discussing the actual lighting elements themselves. Ahh, then I felt as thought I had something to contribute! After a bit of hemming and hawing and indecisiveness on my part, we think we have our decisions made. Hooray! Read more…
