Bonjour mes amies! The Hot Wings finally went on our honeymoon. Sure, it’s seven months after our wedding, but a honeymoon can never be too late. We dorky academics planned our wedding based on our work/school schedule. Right after the wedding, we both had to fly home and start our new jobs. So, for spring break, we went to Paris!
We rented a small condo in the 4th district: Le Marais. It was a nice experience to live on a residential street and feel at home. The only difficulty we had was with making restaurant reservations. We ended up not making any because my French isn’t strong enough to have phone conversations. It might have been nice to have hotel staff to make reservations for us.
When we discussed what we wanted to do in Paris, we realized that we both had different styles of vacationing. Read more…

I’m taking a halt in my recaps because I’m so annoyed with myself. Did I really just spend the last twoposts talking about how uncomfortable I felt during formals, and how I wish I was more fierce? Gosh, I could kick that woman for being so glass-half-empty. Learning self-love is a process, one that I’m likely to always need to be consciously aware of.
I read my bridal pictures post when it went live on the blog. As I read through what I wrote, I felt like I was watching myself in a reality TV show. I finished the post and felt embarrassed that I never even once acknowledged the beauty in my bridal shots. It’s so much easier to recognize the beauty of moments and the joy that is reflected in the more photojournalistic photos. Admitting the beauty of bridals seems so much more difficult. Perhaps I was being modest. But more likely, I was just being down on myself. All too often, we are our worst critics.

Like our couples’ pictures, I also had solo bridal shots taken twice. The first time happened right after our couples’ photos on the cliff, right before the photos with the Hottie Brideswomen. As you can see, I also used the parasols. Thank goodness for them. We definitely needed the shade. The first photo up top definitely took several shots to take. Hanssie told me to put the parasol straight up above my head. She kept instructing me to tilt it back more…a little more…and then she ran in and positioned it for me. I was laughing (of course) because it felt so funny. When I finally saw this photo, it made a whole lot of sense why the positioning had to be just so. Read more…

I work full time for a Commercial General Contractor (aka my father) and I go to school for Interior Design at night. I love modern design, music, wine, crafting, DMailing, my family, my Westies, and of course, Mr Frenchie! Mr Frenchie and I met 3 years ago on Match.com and have been best friends ever since. I love his "old soul" and how he laughs with his whole body, among many other things. We are planning our summer wedding at the winery near his hometown, just 45 minutes south of Orange County.
I wasn’t a bee yet when this series started, but I planned on applying and hoped they would bring it back because I really wanted to participate. I don’t even have any fun secret-y type things to tell you all. Seriously, I sat in front my computer screen for a while trying to think of funny or interesting thing about me and this is all I could think of… I need to get out more.
1 - When I find an article of clothing I really like I buy a bunch of them and wear the crap out of it. In college it was overalls (What? It was technically still the ’90s), after that, hoodies, and now cardigans. I’ve also recently rediscovered tights, so if spring doesn’t happen soon, I may have another addiction on my hands.
2 - When I see a street with my name on it, I insist on taking my picture with the sign.

As many of you already know, the hive is full of inspiration, laughter, tutorials, and delightful wedding love. The hive has affected my wedding in so many ways, but the wedding comes and goes and few traces are left in our day-to-day lives. Now, 6 months post-wedding, there is still one bit of Weddingbee inspiration that is left in my life.
Yes, these are my rings: engagement and wedding band. But what are they sitting in?

Our guest list grew as the day progressed. Our tea ceremony had about 50 guests, our civil ceremony about 80, and our dinner reception would be about 270 strong. We wanted to keep our speeches relatively intimate. If you’ve been to a large Vietnamese reception, you have also probably witnessed the lack of attention paid to the Best Man and Woman of Honor when they give their speeches. To avoid this situation and maintain respect for our bestie’s speeches, we had them immediately following the civil ceremony. It was an AWESOME decision.

Growing up, I didn’t dream about my wedding day. I didn’t play bride with pillow case veils or any of that. It wasn’t until I went through old photos for this post that I realized that my youth prepared me for my wedding day duties. Despite my lack of wedding day dreams, I have been preparing for it all my life.

Walking back up the aisle is pretty fun! Look how much happier our wedding party looks compared to when they first walked down the aisle during the processional. This aisle is a serious adrenaline rush. Husband and wife y’all! Husband and wife!

Now, Mr and Miss Hot Wings will exchange the vows that they have written to one another. Read more…

We semi-DIYed our wine box for our Love Letter and Wine Box Ceremony. We searched high and low for an affordable box. Remember, we’re cheap. I kept thinking that someone handy and crafty would offer to make a box for us, but it just never happened. A wood box…how hard could it be? Well, it turns out that this box produced more stress for Mr Hot Wings than just about anything else. Believe it. I personally blame it on the fact that he and Papa Hot Wings decided to cut corners instead of doing it the way I had originally asked them to do it. If you’re planning on dong this too, learn from Mr Hot Wings’ mistakes.
The wood box originally belonged to Sister in Law. Someone had given it to her, and she never used it. So, she re-gifted it to us. My one complaint about the box was the lid. The box had a hinged lid and a latch to close it, similar to these below.

And then the music began. If you can, play this Love Story meets Viva la Vida song by Jon Schmidt.
We chose Mr Hot Wings’ uncle D to be our Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriage. A simple form to the County Registrar’s office and a $50 check meant he could officiate and sign our marriage certificate. Super easy. Almost too easy if you ask me, but it worked out great for us. He led the processional, and the Wingmen followed.
