Sweet Boundless Boobies!

July 26th, 2008 @ 11:04 am by Mrs. Gummi Bear

A close friend of mine is getting married today, so I wanted to throw her a mini-bachelorette-party. It was an all day affair, but I won’t go into the list of things we did that may not interest anyone, and if it does, you can always ask. That is, if I don’t disappear off the face of the earth again…

My obsession with turning everyone I know, with boobs and without, onto Agent Provocateur led me to give them a call about having all the girls go and try on things, and pitch in for our friend’s bridal set. I would have settled for a just letting them know they were going to be invaded, but what we got was so much better I had to share.

The Sweetest Day: The Dashing Gents

July 24th, 2008 @ 5:43 pm by Mrs. Eggplant

On the wedding day, brides spend their morning meticulously primping and pruning for hours on end. Each eyebrow hair is diligently combed in place. Each lash, carefully coated with mascara. Conversely, a groom’s job is easy. Rent tux. Show up. Remember to say “I do.”

So, how DO those boys keep busy?

DIY Rehearsal Dinner Invites

July 22nd, 2008 @ 4:52 pm by Miss Cream Puff

Let me tell you a little secret, my friends: it is a very good thing that I got most of my DIY projects finished early on! There were a few things that I left to the end, and I have hated those things! Exhibit A is our rehearsal dinner invite. I really love the design for these, but they were a lot of work and I only ended up making half of them (half the guests, mostly bridal party, were invited by word-of-mouth). I have to say, though, I do think they turned out pretty cute.

Our rehearsal dinner is at an old-time touristy Chinatown restaurant with karaoke. I really wanted the invitations to reflect the feel of the dinner, which was fun and kitschy. Here’s what I came up with:

Hello, dear hive. smiley10104

Long time, no blog! It’s Mrs. Eggplant here, back from my sabbatical in the land of the married. Well, it has been nine months since the wedding and I have yet to post a recap of our wedding photos. Between nesting and working, I’ve been a negligent blogger. I do apologize!

I can’t move on from our wedding without some closure, so over the next few weeks, I’ll finally be posting our pro pictures from the amazingly talented Apertura, along with some of our wedding DIY projects. These posts are long overdue, but better late than never, right? Right. So off we go:

About Miss Cream Puff

When planning anything, our children are a major consideration for Mr. Cream Puff and I. Even if we’re leaving for just one night, we have to figure out what to do with our kids! The cats are usually okay for a couple of days, but our pooch is another story. Usually, we’re going camping or something, and she gets to come with:

Our wedding and honeymoon, however, have to be dog and cat-free.

The Packet.

July 18th, 2008 @ 12:01 pm by Mrs. Daffodil

It became a bit of a running joke among all involved in helping out on our wedding day. I admit maybe it was a bit over the top, but for a J-personality type* like me, but hey, it was as much for my own sanity as it was for helping everyone else know where to be and when. That’s right- I created a 15-page “Wedding Weekend Packet” for all involved! It took me probably a full three days straight (with little sleep) to really get everything right, but I did it and sent it out to everyone about four days before the wedding!

Now what could possibly take up 15 pages you ask? Here’s a glimpse into my pride and joy…

Wow, you guys, thank you SO much for all of your support the other day. I feel significantly better after having a meltdown (hahaha) and now things are back to being all business. :)

The programs are finished (pictures to come a bit later), and even though they are printed with the wrong information, I’m just going to leave it. I obviously can’t un-sew them, and I’m definitely not willing to start from scratch. I don’t even feel like putting little pieces of paper inside to correct the error. My friend Amanda is going to step into my other bridesmaid’s place (thank you Amanda!), so no one is going to wonder why there are only four instead of five. I am really excited to have Amanda in my bridal party–she’s such a great friend. :)

Anyway, to follow the intro and Chinese Traditions for the program wording, here’s the Jewish Traditions wording. I hope some of you find it helpful!

A Puffy-Eyed Meltdown

July 14th, 2008 @ 6:03 pm by Miss Cream Puff

Wow, I am totally mortified.

Friday was, overall, a horrible day.

It started out in the morning. I was facing a packed day, with work and wedding things to accomplish. I was driving down a busy street in San Francisco, on my way to have my eyebrows done (very important, haha), when I’m hit by another car. Yay. I get out and look at the side of my car, and it is messed up on three different panels. Luckily the woman who hit me (she tried to change lanes without looking) pulled over, but I really do not want to be dealing with this right now–especially since she specifically didn’t admit fault at the scene. Now we get to pay a $500 deductible which we may or may not get back (pending our insurance’s investigation), 3 weeks before the wedding.

Daffodil Day Part I: Make Me Pretty

July 14th, 2008 @ 4:18 pm by Mrs. Daffodil

I was saving this post for my recaps, but since a lot of you have been private messaging me with questions about my hair and makeup, I thought I’d just put this one out there first! For those of you who want to see the final product, feel free to scroll to the bottom (the vendor review and details on the ’do are coming tomorrow!)…and the rest of you can follow along as we begin to retrace what was truly one of the happiest days of our lives! smiley1

The morning began a little past 6 AM with our hair and makeup artist knocking on our hotel room door. She was so on time that she showed up almost an hour early, to ensure there was enough time to set up her station and get everyone prettied up! In a somewhat disoriented state, I answered the door. I had gone to bed at 2:30 AM the night before (definitely not a “bridal best practice” to follow smiley3), and the adrenaline had not yet kicked in. I must’ve been the first sleepy-eyed bride she ever encountered smiley4. Shortly afterward, some of my bridesmaids showed up with breakfast.
