I have officially been MIA for over a week, and here is why: I didn’t feel good. I think I’m doing better now though, so I have no excuse not to get off my lazy bum and write our last honeymoon post! This one’s about our excursions. We went on two.
Excursion #1 was to Tulum, where we swam in a cenote, experienced a Mayan ritual, explored Tulum, went zip-lining and swam in the Caribbean.
Here’s us inside the cenote. Basically, we descended into an underground cave filled with stagnant water and swam in it. It was a little icky, but mostly kinda cool. There were stalagmites and stalactites, which was exciting.

Dear readers, I will be on a blogging hiatus for a bit. I’ve been a busy bee lately; I’m going on a trip to Europe with Mr. Eggplant for our anniversary next week! Fourteen days in Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona. The only thing is, I haven’t touched our itinerary yet—yikes! If anyone has suggestions for must-see sights in these three cities, feel free to help a procrastinating Eggplant out and comment below. I would be incredibly grateful.
Now, on to our ceremony recap, before my blogging break starts!
We arrived at the church right on time with zero minutes to spare. In fact, I had no time to be nervous because it was go, go, go. In hindsight, this was probably a good thing.

Just a reminder! There’s going to be a BEE MEETUP in the bay area tonight! Here’s the deal: a bunch of local gals thought it would be fun to meet and hang out, so they decided to plan a get-together (thanks, guys!). They’ve planned the meetup for:
Sunday, August 24th at 6pm Beretta
1199 Valencia Street
San Francisco CA, 94110
If you’d like to contribute to the conversation, check out the thread here. It’s sure to be a lot of fun, so go join them! Sadly, I am still not feeling that great, so I won’t be there. Have fun, ladies!

Thanks for your support regarding my sickness, guys! I went to the doctor yesterday and was given Cipro (an antibiotic). They seem to think that I have E. Coli. YAY. Such a joy. I am pretty much living off of Gatorade and saltine crackers. This is an annoying diet when regular food actually looks kinda tasty (kinda). Usually I eat this stuff when I’m nauseous and can’t stand the idea of a regular meal.
But alas, we are done talking about The Sick. Today, we are going to talk about the good stuff.
Our honeymoon was at the Royal Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. We got a really good deal on an all-inclusive package, so we had some money left over in our honeymoon budget for some extra activities. Mostly, however, we just laid around. After all, I am convinced that the point of the honeymoon is to relax. And relax we did, especially with such great scenery. Here’s the view from our room:

I would like to preface this post by saying that we did, in fact, have a very relaxing honeymoon, and the Caribbean Ocean simply cannot be beat. However, this post is not about how great our honeymoon was (that comes tomorrow). This is a post about getting really sick, and how you can avoid getting really sick yourself.
We’ve been back from our honeymoon for a week, and I have been sick for a week and a half. There’s no need to get into the details of exactly what kind of sick I am, as I’m pretty sure you can use your imagination. Mr. Cream Puff is also sick, but not quite as sick as I am. The day I got sick, we went on an excursion to Tulum. The excursion involved swimming in a cenote and zip-lining. We were not allowed to bring our own water for some reason, and they provided water for us. Their water was not bottled. I originally thought I got sick from this water, but looking back on our pictures, I already looked sick, and I remember feeling not-so-hot as we were preparing to do the zip-line. Evidence:

Originally, Mr. Cream Puff and I made the decision that we would see one another before our ceremony for formal pictures. We did this to be practical, even though we both would prefer to see each other for the first time at the ceremony.
Well, when we changed photographers, we also changed our minds. “Screw practicality!” we said. We decided to wait to see one another until the ceremony. This left us (read = me) with the task of figuring out how to schedule the photography sessions so that we didn’t miss our cocktail hour, which was also important to us. Here’s what I came up with: Read more…

We left for our honeymoon late on Monday night after our Saturday wedding. On Monday morning, I got a very strange phone call. “Hello, Ms. Cream Puff? This is [MIL Puff’s Name].” I thought to myself, “No, this is not MIL Puff. I know MIL Puff’s voice, and this is not MIL Puff. So who the heck is this?” Read more…

It makes sense that this post should follow the rehearsal dinner post, because we gave our bridal party the gifts AT the rehearsal dinner.
First, the girls. Because San Francisco can be chilly, I wanted to get them wraps to keep them warm during the wedding. I had a bright pink pashmina to wear that day with my white dress, so I thought it might be fun to give them white pashminas to go with their bright dresses. They loved them! Here are four of the bridesmaids (and our officiant), all wearing the pashminas on the day of the wedding:

I haven’t been to many rehearsal dinners before, but I doubt many of them were like ours. Complete with atrocious singing voices and Momma Puff & FIL Puff running around with shriveled chicken heads on forks, our pre-wedding party was quite the spectacle. It even started out a little wacky:
Most of our guests met us in the lobby of the Grand Hyatt, where we were staying. We walked together through the famous Chinatown gate, and a couple of blocks to the restaurant.

We just bought our first home together and live with our two puppies and cat - it's a strange mixture of vintage, high-tech (we have 7 computers and 21 video game systems in all), and a whole lot of fur. Our wedding tries to embody the Japanese idea of "slow life", which is truly taking the time to enjoy food, company, and your environment!
There is no way to say this delicately, but it has to be said.
I wanted to have all my hair ripped off pre-wedding. Yes, all of it. I wanted to be smooth and aerodynamic, so that should I need to fly or swim faster than someone else, I would have an edge.
