About Me: With a degree in Theatre I never realized that planning a wedding was a lot like Theatre Management, until I started planning my own. I am a coffee addict, especially Starbucks' Grande Mochas, yummy! I love to cook (especially chocolate chip cookies for my honey), travel to exotic places, and be creative. As a couple, Mr. Cookie and I are extremely practical, down to earth, and children at heart. We live in a cozy abode with our adorable Pomeranian, and love to play board games and watch movies into the evening.
I always knew I was going to design my own invites. I worked as a graphic designer for a theatre company to put myself through college. And since I am a little bit of control freak, I knew couldn’t farm the invitation out; I had to design them myself.

About Me: Being a transplant from sunny south Florida I am learning to live with all four seasons while playing with our cat collective, line dancing, and doing a ton of DIY projects for our wedding (seriously, like a thousand)!
Mr. Pineapple and I finally put together our save the dates, using our engagement photos. I wanted to get them out a little sooner since most of the guests will be out-of-towners, but I think 6 months before is definitely still reasonable.
Lesson learned:
I made way too many of everything. I have a bunch of extra monogram magnets. After sealing all the envelopes I wish I would have put two magnets in each one. The cards are bigger than I originally envisioned and the magnets barely hold them onto the fridge. I am also worried that people will not realize there is a magnet in the envelope and they will get thrown out. An alternative would be to make stronger magnets, but it was too late for that one.
Here is the whole kit n’ kaboodle:

I am a fan of the trend to send magnets as your save the date. I like that people can just throw them up on the fridge and they won’t get lost in the pile of junk mail. On the other hand, I can’t help but think they can look kind of cheap, I love love love paper.
So, I decided to combine the two. I am making paper save the dates and little magnets to send along with them. The magnets were the first actual project that I completed. I was anxious to get something checked off the list!

About Me: I think of life as a journey and I love the places it's taking me! I went to school to study Magazine Journalism, ended up with a second major in Japanese language, and now work at a company that makes software for libraries. I love writing, computers, photography, and the great outdoors. I spend most of my time playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band or geeking out online with Mr. Cherry Pie. I'm happiest when I'm on the road, especially traveling abroad, or just nesting quietly at home with my sweetie, who is a fabulous cook and bakes a delicious rendition of a certain cherry-filled dessert!
Our artist friend Cathy, the same one who will be marrying us, also gave us the incredible gift of helping create our Save the Date Cards. Because she works with paper, she has a ton of paper stockpiled in her Montana studio and offered to supply all of our materials and printing for free!
We hadn’t yet decided on a wedding theme or colors, so we decided to keep our design simple. I created a minimalist text template in InDesign with all of our information:

The date that is! We finally got our Save the Dates out the day before yesterday, hence my lack of posting this week. I went back and forth for weeks over the design, and, finally, settled with a simple monogram and a simple Save the Date. The monogram will be constant throughout the wedding. I decided that less is more and wanted to keep it simple, classic, but still have a personal touch to all of the paper for our wedding.

I’ve been on the ball with everything for this wedding. Ahead of the game, way too early at times, but never really late. Until my Save the Dates.
I kept putting off designing them (and they weren’t even intricate) and when I FINALLY decided on what I wanted and chose where to get them printed, I realized that they will get here with less then 6 months to go. Then I still have to account for addressing and the time it takes to deliver them.
Is it super late that my save the dates will get to everyone with only about 5 months until the wedding? Most of the guests that will have to travel to be at the wedding have the date, so I don’t think that it should be an issue.
I hate being improper, but the time just got away from me. I definitely have learned my lesson and will be doing all things paper as early as I can before the wedding from this point forward.
From most of my wedding planning lists that I’ve accumulated during our engagement, they say to send them out around the six month mark. When did you all send out your save the dates?

About Me: Mr. Cupcake and I hit it off at a Halloween party and immediately began a long-distance relationship. After two years, he moved to my neck of the woods, and a year and a half after that, he proposed at the “place we fell in love.” I am a true perfectionist who enjoys designing and creating more work for myself, so wedding planning is my perfect outlet. Mr. Cupcake and I are both old souls, and we hope to weave that aspect of our personalities into our wedding day.
My original wedding timeline had me sending our save the dates back in January. Well, a month and a half late ain’t bad, right?
I spent a ridiculous amount of time on these save the dates, so our guests BEST be saving the damn date if they know what’s good for them!!!!
After slaving over the design and assembly, I finally put these bad boys in the mail this week, and I couldn’t be happier. Drumroll please…..
