Continuing the Bird Trend!

September 5th, 2008 @ 4:45 pm by Miss Coconut

I blogged a while back about how much I love the bird trend. Birds will be on our cake, at our guest book table, and on most of our stationery, so it just seemed natural to have a birdcage veil! I’ll actually be sporting one mostly for my bridal portraits, and I’ll be wearing a cathedral veil for the ceremony. Yes, that’s right. I’m a two-veil bride. What? That’s totally normal!

I don’t have any pictures of me in the birdcage, but I will post pictures of it from Etsy and share with you where I bought everything!

Let’s Get Pumped!

September 5th, 2008 @ 8:34 am by Miss Coconut

First off, I’d like to thank everyone for the amazing compliments on my fitness accomplishment! I actually went to my first fitting today, but didn’t take pictures because all they did was pin my beloved VW, and since I just showed you pictures of the dress last week, I thought you might get bored! However, I thought you might like a fitness/food update!

For the most part, my fitness/food regimen hasn’t changed much from the original plan. I have made a few important changes, but I’m still working out 4-5 days a week and eating pretty well. I want to stress that I generally don’t deprive myself of anything. I believe that I don’t crave unhealthy foods as much because I try to watch my sugar intake.

My workout schedule looks like this:

Looky What I Did!

August 27th, 2008 @ 9:28 am by Miss Coconut

This may be the most exciting blog post of my life! You may remember how I didn’t exactly fit into my beloved Vera Wang, right? Then, you might also recall my super healthy, pumped up plan.

My original post was on May 28th, and today is August 27th. Almost three months later, looky what I did!

(Keep in mind, this isn’t an official fitting. The dress needs to be seriously hemmed and bustled, but I couldn’t keep my sugar-free fans waiting!)

My First Bridal Shower!

August 26th, 2008 @ 9:29 am by Miss Coconut

My very first bridal shower was two weeks ago and it was so much fun! Newlywed Sister Coconut and my best friend, Ashley, hosted my shower at a beach resort in Clearwater, Florida. Although, from what Ashley tells me, Sister Coconut did all the work, Ashley just helped foot the bill.

I love Sister Coconut incredibly - she put so much thought into every detail, down to the decor and the yummy dessert. Get ready for a massive photo tour!

As you can kind of see, the room was right on the water in a very bright and cheery room. Check out the beautiful blue hydrangeas that graced the table with the clean white linens. Yum.

I’m Marrying Michael Phelps

August 23rd, 2008 @ 5:01 pm by Miss Coconut

Just kidding! I know, that’s a torturous joke, isn’t it?! Everyone in the world wants to marry Michael Phelps right now, and I promise I’m not the one taking him off the market. Actually, I have something much better: Mr. Coconut, a Michael Phelps look-alike without the hectic training schedule or the 12,000 calorie a day diet. Because, let’s be honest, I think I’d be one plump Asian if that were the case!

As the Summer Olympics come to a close, I just wanted to have my own closing ceremony. For the last month, I have been barraged with e-mails and text messages from my friends and family claiming that Mr. Coconut is in fact in Beijing breaking every world record in swimming. In fact, Mr. Coconut is with me, researching point-to-point communications for his Ph.D.

To illustrate the likeness:

What, No Coconut Cake?!

August 21st, 2008 @ 10:59 am by Miss Coconut

Continuing with our wedding planning excursion, we stopped at our baker and picked up our cake tasting. We get the option of picking a different flavor for each tier, but I had no idea the cakes would be this huge! Since we were 35 minutes away from home, and just couldn’t wait any longer, we did a drive-by cake tasting just outside our wedding venue!

We didn’t have a knife, so we just forked it. Ya know.

Our Haunted Rehearsal Dinner Venue

August 19th, 2008 @ 2:46 pm by Miss Coconut

Ok, it’s not really haunted, but for our Halloween Rehearsal Dinner, it just might be! This was the one planning item that I really slacked on. We’ve been engaged since March 2007, and literally started booking our vendors in July of that year. For some reason, we just kind of let this item fall by the wayside. So, last week my mother and I drove to Lakeland (it’s about 40 minutes from my parents’ house) and scouted some restaurants. Unfortunately, we came up empty handed.

After 2 hours of searching, I walked into our wedding hotel and asked if they had any other recommendations. There was really nothing left, and I wasn’t planning to have our dinner at the hotel itself, but after I saw the room and menu I was sold. Plus, all of our guests would already be staying at the hotel, so how easy would it be for them?! SOLD!

Here are some pictures of hotel and the private room where our Halloween rehearsal dinner will be held. YAY!!

Treats for the Hostess!

August 18th, 2008 @ 3:48 pm by Miss Coconut

Since I am the etiquette master, I made sure to bring some great gifts for the ladies who threw my bridal shower this weekend! On a side note, the bridal shower was amazing and I had the greatest time! I can’t wait to share pictures with you, once my sister downloads them!

I bought the girls some amazing body wash from Origins, some lip balm and foot petals from Dillard’s. Have you tried the foot petals?! Ohmigoodness, I love them!!! You should check them out, especially if you’re a frequent stiletto walker.

I’m Being Held Hostage!

August 15th, 2008 @ 10:59 am by Miss Coconut

…from posting pictures and blogging that is! I’ve been staying at my parents’ place since taking the bar exam (it’s four hours away from my beloved apartment where Mr. Coconut is no doubt playing Call of Duty) and I’ve done a ton of wedding planning! Is your Google Reader broken?! No. (*Said in a very irritated and stubborn voice). I ignorantly forgot my USB cord to upload pictures and my 2GB SD card is too large to just pop into my laptop.

I have so much to share with you, and I can’t do it yet! Ahhhhh! I know, I suck. This weekend is my bridal shower, Friday is our cake tasting. Too. Many. Things. No. USB.

In the meantime though, I will give you a look at my rehearsal dress. Since our rehearsal takes place on Halloween, it’s only fitting that I should wear this color, right?

Budget-Friendly Hair Flower?

August 14th, 2008 @ 2:35 pm by Miss Coconut

I was internet shopping on J.Crew last night, I mean what else can I do nowadays, and I stumbled across this chiffon flower hair pin. Now, I know this isn’t a Jennifer Behr masterpiece, but for someone on a serious wedding budget, this could be the perfect hair flower! With J.Crew’s lenient return policy, why not give it a go? Who knows, it could be gorgeous!!
