I’m not exactly the superstitious type, but when it comes to the wedding I want nothing but good juju coming our way.

I started collecting my “somethings” early on, the first of which was a silver sixpence. I originally wanted to get one of the year my parents married, but as Mrs. Husky pointed out, after 1947 they no longer contained silver. Instead I opted for 1946, the year my grandparents married.

If you recall, I went ahead and booked a hair trial even though I was on the fence about my inspiration. I chose Cari from Kyle Lynn because she a ton of positive feedback and her pricing was much more reasonable than anyone else’s.
Despite Sassy’s reassurance I wasn’t looking forward to it at all; I even postponed it a few times with the hopes I’d find another inspiration. As each day passed the more stressed I became. A week before my trial I finally struck gold.

Macs has always been a french cuff kind of guy. It was one of the few stipulations he had about his attire. Macs owns several pairs of cufflinks already, but I wanted to get him something special just for the wedding. Since his boutonnière turned out amazing, I thought a matching pair of cufflinks would be perfect.

But the blog post in which I saw them was dated back in 2009 and the store they linked to no longer had them. I was so bummed, I looked through pages upon pages of search results before finally finding them in stock in a store in the UK.
I quickly placed my order with them, and according to their site I should have them within 7-10 business days. Well, ten days passed and then another ten. The cufflinks went MIA and the tracking perpetually said ‘processing’. I contacted customer service and they said I had to wait another 5 business days before reporting them lost.

Remember the hair flower I was making? It hasn’t changed other than the fact it’s now buried somewhere in the abyss known as my crafting tub. Many of you recommended a pearly/sparkly brooch for the center but after several trips to thrift stores and searching on eBay I couldn’t find anything quite right. I wasn’t willing to invest any more time or money into it so I swallowed my crafting pride and bought one instead.
After attempting the flower myself I determined I wanted all feathers. Enter the Feather Fascinator by Londonxox.

Macs and I have spent a lot time brainstorming ideas for our favors. We’ve tried to include little bits of us throughout our wedding and hoped to do the same with small tokens of edible appreciation.
In an ideal world our wedding would be budget less. Pierre Hermé would send his amazing macarons right to my doorstep, perfectly packaged and ready to grace our tables. Macarons were a memorable part of our Bunnymoon and the reason I chose my moniker.

Mrs. Perfume seemed to have great success with hers, but after reading about Mrs. Turtle and Mrs. Rainbow’s attempts I wasn’t quite ready to give it a shot. Miss Bacon was planning on making them too, until she found an amazing baker that didn’t sell them for an arm and a leg. I still haven’t let go of this idea entirely but for now it’s on the back burner.

And I plan on filling that space with light!
If you recall my inspiration board, I love the look of lace wrapped candles. They’re just so soft and romantic—what’s not to love? Beth Helmstetter gives a brief tutorial here, but I thought you’d appreciate a more detailed account.
First you’ll need the following:

Mr. Macs and I were finally able to go check out some rings over the weekend. The trip was all about him, as we had already decided to get the matching band for me.

Mr. Macarons has this thing about his hands. Unless he’s using something like his iPad or drinking a cup of coffee, his hands have to be free. His one carry-on item? You better believe it’s a backpack. Want him to hold my purse? No deal, unless it’s big enough to fit over his shoulder. I can’t say I wasn’t shocked to find out he doesn’t like the feel of rings.

The one and only Captain, according to the Macarons, will be making an appearance at our reception. No, we’re not inviting him personally, but he will be there in spirit.

I’m stylistically challenged when it comes to doing my own hair. Ninety percent of the time it’s in a ponytail and out of my face; otherwise it’s one of two options:

Let me start by saying family is very important to me, especially my grandparents. So many of my childhood memories are filled with them; bedtime was always special with Nana, and Papa made me a hardcore Steelers fan by the ripe old age of five. When I was twelve, my entire family went on a cruise to celebrate their 50th anniversary. I remember thinking to myself that I wanted to be just like them, and that I’d celebrate my 50th anniversary on a cruise, too.

I’m one of the lucky ones who’s able to lucid dream. As a child, I was able to defeat monsters and escape burning buildings with my family and pets. If something seemed preposterous, I’d simply change it.
Like others, I’ve had a few stressful wedding dreams in the past, but I was able to avert a crisis every single time. MOH Sassy started having them quite frequently once she was two months out. I figured our two-year engagement allowed me to be way ahead of the game and keep me relatively stress free.
Well, hive, this generally calm and collected bee just had the WORST wedding nightmare ever. The kind that you wake from in a hot and sweaty mess; where there’s no chance in hell you’re going to fall back asleep even though it’s 7 AM on a Saturday. Just about everything went wrong, and there wasn’t a single thing I could do about it.

For a moment, I thought Mr. Macarons was getting even.
Maybe I was being set up for kind of being a jerk to him on campus. Then my phone rang. It was Macs. “Um, you don’t live in a trailer park…do you?” He must have turned one street too soon. I gave him better directions and told him I’d meet him outside.
When Mr. Macs pulled up, he was surprised to see me in a skirt. He asked me if I was looking forward to seeing the movie and if I was ready. “YES,” I exclaimed, though I had no clue what it was about. I could have been walking into the worst movie ever, but I didn’t care—I was finally going to be alone with the guy “I recently couldn’t stop thinking about.”

Since I already discussed food, this has to be about cake! Finding a baker was a bit of a struggle. Mr. Macs has a sweet tooth, but most American cakes turn his stomach. Too much sugar + too much frosting = two bites tops and he’s done. Any other time I’ve come to terms with it, but this was our wedding cake. I wanted him to enjoy it as much as our guests. I can’t tell you how many weddings and parties I’ve been to where so much cake is wasted. This was something we DID NOT want to happen, especially once I found out how ridiculously expensive cakes can be.

Yes, that’s indeed me at a friend’s wedding. I couldn’t help myself before helping them package it up.

A few weeks passed before I started talking to Mr. Macarons online again. I didn’t offer up any explanation for my odd behavior, and he didn’t seem to want an answer. It was as if things never changed, but they had. I liked Macs A LOT. I needed to let my guard down and put myself out there. He needed to see the smart and funny girl that I am, not the awkward, standoffish person I was on my walk to class. Then maybe, just maybe, he might start to like me, too. It was just a matter of finding the right opportunity, the one I had hoped for all along.
I couldn’t just ask Macs out; it’d be weird. If I were him, I’d be suspicious of going out with the girl that wanted no part of me a month before. I kept a lookout for any posts by him in the “entertainment” section of the message boards. Maybe if he was going to a show or looking to play pool I could tag along? Nothing, no opportunities whatsoever, until I saw a post about Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Macs was going to see it on Friday and wanted to know if anyone else planned on watching it. I waited a bit before responding; it was only Tuesday and I didn’t want to seem desperate. On Thursday morning I replied and said I’d go see it with him if he wanted company. I gave him an out and didn’t think I’d hear back. Friday afternoon he wrote me back. “Sure, I’ll pick you up at 9:30. What’s your address?” I literally froze.
