About Me: Despite the fact that I’ve invested many long years of my life studying the sciences in college, I’m glad to be out of there and I would never do it again! I’m super artsy at heart - I run an indie craft site, I grew up shooting and developing my own film, doing jazz and ballet, and the whole gamut of art classes. I’ve been called a Jane of all Trades… but I was also told many years ago not to make my passion my career because it’d suck the fun out of it. Hence my choice of day job. We live in Seattle but are having our wedding in Canada to be fair to all our family and friends.

About Me: I am a grad student with a secret obsession for all things wedding related. I also love to read, travel, drink champagne and go for walks with our dog, Maisy, and Mr. Peacock. We are planning our very vintage wedding in the greatest city in the world, our hometown of Chicago. I am so proud to be a Bee!
A few months ago I decided to make an inspiration board. By “I,” I mean I picked out photos and Mr. Peacock put it together in Photoshop. Thank goodness he is so talented with that because I was using Word. Here is what I came up with:

About Me: Mr. Cupcake and I hit it off at a Halloween party and immediately began a long-distance relationship. After two years, he moved to my neck of the woods, and a year and a half after that, he proposed at the “place we fell in love.” I am a true perfectionist who enjoys designing and creating more work for myself, so wedding planning is my perfect outlet. Mr. Cupcake and I are both old souls, and we hope to weave that aspect of our personalities into our wedding day.
I have really been wanting to create an inspiration board for my wedding. I have been collecting photos since day one (well, er, before day one!), and I was ready to put everything together to see if I like the direction things are going in. I spent some time getting all the images together in a QuarkXPress layout. I have been worried that the colors won’t be vivid enough, or that they’ll be too vivid and not classy enough, or everything won’t represent my “vintage charm meets modern whimsy” theme quite enough, but now that I have my inspiration board together I’m confident that I’m happy with where things are going!

Hi everybody — we’re back from Paris! Mr. T and I had a great time, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it! But in the meantime, I came back with a terrible cold and can barely think straight, so pretty pictures seem a nice, slow way to start. Here are some Paris items, in honor of the WeddingBee brides who are using a Paris theme for their wedding or showers:

About Me: I am a displaced Southern belle trying to orchestrate our big day with my sweetie while living in a land far far away. When not planning for our classic Southern celebration, I love to read, travel, explore my artistic side, and bake brownies for Mr. Donut, who happens to love eating them. It works out well.
Once we had our where and when, it was time to get down to the aesthetics and where better to begin than color? We want to be able to tie our first and second wedding days together as much as possible. Now, I cannot tell a lie. I love pink. The Boy jokes that it doesn’t matter what it is, if it’s pink, I am drawn to it like a moth to a flame. And it’s true. I am not afraid to embrace the pink, so of course I love the fact that cherry blossom pink is a color that links the two events perfectly. I’m not, however, a Shelby “my colors are blush and bashful” bride. My philosophy is too much of a good thing is simply too much. So we chose celadon green as our main color, with pale pink and white as accent colors.
Here is my inspiration picture.

I love our color palate. I don’t care how many times I see this color combo, I always think it’s wonderfully fresh and romantic and perfect.
How did you choose your wedding colors?

About Me: I'm a born and raised New Yorker who loves all things crafty and artsy, food (cheese and dessert!), magazines, and shoes. I'm a power shopper always on the lookout for good deals or great quality-- sometimes I'm lucky and I find both! I love to dance and "shake what my momma gave me" but can also really enjoy a quiet night in with Mr. Canary and a good episode of Seinfeld or curl up with a good book.
It’s amazing how your wedding choices can change in an instant. Even after you’ve chosen something and thought “That’s it. No more.” But then on a whim, you find something else you like better. I hate when that happens.
I thought I was all set on a theme, well at least a color scheme. Although a color scheme will not necessarily change a theme, but it may adjust it. From an earlier post, I was all over modern chinoiserie, which I still am, but I also thought I had my color scheme all figured out. Wrong.
Initially, I wanted to start with a detail from my dress: the gold sash and then work from the bridesmaid colors (since they would be in about a bajillion photos with me on the day). I had originally wanted a poppy red or pink, but then thought that six girls in bright pink or red would be too much. I saw an awesome photo of a bride and bridesmaids in a champagne/mocha color and that exuded classic elegance so I started my quest down that route.

Wedding themes don’t have to be high-concept. Sometimes a simple decorative element like “stripes” can tie everything together with panache. (Though, as with most themes, a little can go a long way — you wouldn’t want stripes on everything!) Some examples:

About Me: I’m a Gemini to the extreme. On one side, I’m a girly girl. I read countless bridal and fashion magazines, and have an obsession with keeping up with the latest Hollywood gossip. On the other side, I’m a sports fanatic. Despite being a full-time bride-to be, full-time research assistant, and part-time student, I’m also a full-time Red Sox fan from spring training to October, and a full-time Patriots fan from mini-camp to February. I devote almost as much time researching my for fantasy football team as researching for our wedding!
A friend of mine was having trouble coming up with some floral schemes for her April 2008 wedding. Naturally, since I love looking at pictures of all things wedding, I told her I’d help her out. Her main colors are celery green and white. I was finding so many lovely pictures, so I decided to make some inspiration boards.

The Story of a Practical Theme
You may of heard a little something about Portland, Oregon… it rains. According to our reputation, almost incessantly. It is my opinion that generally the city gets a bad rap, because the rain is fairly seasonal and the natural beauty it creates is breathtaking.
Suffice to say that, like any stereotype, there is a part to this one which is true - every winter there comes upon the city a rainstorm that begins in early December and keeps on going pretty much until the end of January. Our wedding date is smack in the middle of that.

Why pick only two wedding colors, when you could have three. And why stick to only three, when you could have three different colors and two shades of each of those.
At least that is my motto. I am a big fan of color, as anyone in my life would tell you. My shoe collection is such a rainbow that the other day I was bemoaning the fact I couldn’t find a pair of neutral (black or brown) flats to wear.
And if something is so much a part of your personality, then I say work it into your wedding day. So, as I stood in the Dutch Boy paint aisle of a local Fred Meyer’s I was torn. There were two different greens and two different blues that I was in love with, and I couldn’t choose. So I didn’t.
And here is the color palette in all its glory:
The only one that isn’t showing up well is the darker blue, it is much less turquoise than it appears.

When I created my inspiration board, it felt somewhat scattered. Being totally scatterbrained myself, I made a second board that helped me pull my wedding elements into a focused “event design.”
First one:
