I’m FINALLY back from a whirlwind wedding trip to Colorado, and I’ve got so much to share with you!! Planning a wedding from so far away is pretty tough, but I’m so glad this final trip went as planned. All except one of our vendor meetings went without a hitch, our food will be fantastic, and I managed to shed only one tear of frustration at my disastrous hair trial (more about that later). I even got to meet up for coffee with Mrs. Cookie!! I would post a picture here, but I completely forgot to take one. Booo for wedding induced sleep deprivation.
I figure that before I share with you some of our final decisions that were made this past weekend, I’d show some of our original inspiration. When we first started wedding planning, we thought that the cake wouldn’t be a huge decision. At first I thought about doing one of those Styrofoam cakes that would be decorated and then guests would just eat a less expensive sheet cake. I figured that it would save money and we would still get the look of an expensive cake. Wrong!! Those cakes aren’t cheap!
Our original inspiration stemmed from my early obsession with Damask. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s almost too much damask for me!

So I know I’ve been a little MIA this week and it’s only because I’ve been so freakin’ busy! I’m headed to Colorado this weekend for my final wedding weekend. I’ve got a shower Sunday, meetings with literally every vendor Monday, hair and makeup trials Tuesday and then it’s back to the real world. It’s tough to plan a wedding from so far away!
Because I’m making this trip, I’ve tried to get a bunch of projects done so I could bring them with me and leave them instead of shipping everything. So I promise I’ll post about my most recent DIY projects soon! In the meantime, I thought I would share with you a little secret that I picked up on our last vacation.
A few months ago, Champ and I went to visit my Dad in Big Sky, Montana. I’m used to strange summer weather, but it literally snowed the ENTIRE trip (in the middle of June!!). I definitely wasn’t ready. On the way home, we started talking to one of the airline attendants. He was wonderful and while in flight he told me about the best hangover drink (half beer and half bloody mary mix) and the best 5 minute manicure! Read more…

Whew! That’s a lot of bees, and I give in. I do have a few secrets that I haven’t shared with the hive. It’s not because I’m embarrassed… OK maybe it is, but I thought I might share with you my somewhat double life. Here goes: I was an orchestra playin’, a capella sangin’, performing arts nerd.
When I was very young, I was watching TV at home and saw a woman playing a violin. According to my mom, I got really close to the TV and wouldn’t budge. I begged for violin lessons and my parents agreed. Because I was only about 4 years old, I started on a little cardboard violin and gradually moved my way up to a full size violin throughout the years. We lived in the sticks of Colorado (OK, the mountains really, but it was still pretty rural). My poor parents had to constantly drive me from lessons, to dance class, to orchestra practice. It exhausts me just thinking about it now.

I hate getting my hair cut. I remember on my 16th birthday after I passed my driving test for my license, I went on my first drive alone to the hair stylist to get a trendy cut, color, and blow dry. I thought it might make me feel pretty, and of course I needed an excuse to drive somewhere! It did everything BUT make me feel pretty. I got in the chair after my hair was washed, and the stylist CHOPPED me. I wanted long bangs, and I got practically one-inch bangs. I wanted caramel hi-lights, and I got yellow. I said just a few layers, and I walked out with Jennifer Aniston’s famous layers.
Remember this fad? It was truly the most horrific haircut I’ve ever had. Round face and layers do not go well together.

I thought I would share with you some unique ways us “mountain folk” consider transporting guests, family, and the bride and groom to and from the ceremony. Even if you don’t ski, most of us are at least familiar with a typical chairlift. Although Champ and I won’t be venturing on the mountain (too cold in February!) I would LOVE for this to be a part of our wedding day. Who knows- maybe I’ll whip out the wedding dress this summer for a TTD photo on the mountain!

We’ve all seen the commercial for Sure deodorant where the bride is the only one not worried about the possibility of embarrassing sweat marks… don’t we all wish that was the case?! I know I do. I don’t think I sweat any more than the average gal, but who knows what’s possible on a day where many people will be looking at…um…well…me. I’m pretty sure the usual sweat rules go out the window on your wedding day, so I’m getting prepared to battle.
I once read that the average person sweats almost 4 cups a day and has the capability of sweating 40! Yeah, that’s no typo… we’re capable of 40 cups a day!! Read more…

Champ… if you’re taking a break from Fantasy Football or video games to browse Weddingbee, I ask you stop reading. Oh, and if you’re reading Weddingbee, that probably means you have some time to put away that laundry of yours I folded last week. Xo.
My dress is finally here in all its champagne goodness! Read more…

I knew it had to happen sooner or later. It was just too good to be true. Remember my dream shoes? I had to return them yesterday. I walked into Saks with a box of beautiful Zanottis, and I walked out with a heavy heart and a little tear in my eye. I would never see them again. I tried to make them as comfortable as I could, but I could tell things were not going to work out between us- at least not for an entire eight hour day on my feet.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts about the Lady Champs’ attire! It seems as though there is a discrepancy as to how a new mamma can flaunt her new goods. Some said strapless is flattering, and others thought straps would be much more supportive. Seeing as I’ve never been a new mamma, I just asked the ladies what they thought. And the verdict???

There are so many decisions a bride has to make. For some brides, the bridesmaid dress sets the tone for the wedding. For me, it was sort of a simple decision. I knew I wanted black and something that had an elegant feel. I have six bridesmaids with VERY different style and body types. Not to mention, there will be two bridesmaids who are new mothers, and it’s tough for them to judge what will look the best.
I am a firm believer that when women feel good about themselves, they look better in pictures. When choosing The Lady Champs’ attire, I had to keep this in mind. Read more…
