I am a very dorky and sentimental person. I love laughing and living life alongside my husband-to-be. We have been in a long distance relationship for over 6 years - he is in California and I am presently in Canada, so you can imagine how excited we both are for our upcoming wedding.
In the beginning, I thought I had made up my mind that there was no way I was going to succumb to wearing a veil. No way Jose!
I put on my first veil during my first ever fitting and I was hooked. At that point there was no turning back. I knew I wanted a simple, no edging veil. I picked a short veil with tons of rhinestones. Perfect for me, I thought!
Then I started looking through wedding videos from the Philippines, and that’s where my obsession with the drop veil was born.
I searched locally but the closest they had here in Ottawa was the mantilla. Gorgeous but just not quite what I had envisioned. I finally found an online store called veilshop. They had an awesome tutorial describing types of veils, different lengths, edging, colors and accents.
I knew for sure I wanted a drop veil, so that made my decision making process easier. I ordered free swatches to make sure that the veil color matched my dress. I spent more than the budget alloted for a veil because mine ended up as a special order with the added crystals. But oh did they sparkle!!! To this day I absolutely, positively still have a love affair with my veil!

Found my way to the east coast, and Mr. Champagne kept me here so we're planning a wedding from afar in my hometown Vail, Colorado. I'm secretly obsessed with reality TV, Wii games where I can shoot a gun, country music, and Caesar: Dog Whisperer. I also spend time pretending to golf, backseat driving, having one way conversations with our MinPin Maxwell, loving champagne, and wedding perfecting… I mean, planning. I use way too many repeated symbols and letters when I write, and I'll love Mr. Champagne endlessly…
There are some things I’ve been absolutely positive about during this whole wedding process. I knew I would be involved in the invite design, and I knew I would wear a mantilla veil. But there’s one thing I can’t decide - do I dare make my own “dream veil”? So after many inspirational photos and ideas, I had to actually try some veils at a bridal shop to see if I could design something worth my time and energy.
Although I love the look of the mantilla, it’s tough to find one with a blusher that has lace edging. This blusher is far too long for me - it sits a little flat on my face, but it’s the general idea. More importantly, the woman on the wall behind me has lost her dress… what a shame. Read more…

A photo booth, bridesmaids in birdcage veils AND white gloves? It was almost too much for me to handle. I even emailed her to ask if I could look at her entire wedding gallery because I just HAD to see more shots of these bridesmaids. They all wore pale pink dresses, gold heels, white gloves, and birdcage veils. The MOH wore a birdcage with feathers in it to set her apart a little bit. Big Shot said her girls weren’t that excited about the idea when she told them about it, but they ended up LOVING them in the end, and all of the sassy shots she has in her wedding album really proved it.

Mr. Coconut is my financial advisor, he tries to keep me budget-conscious! We've tried to make wedding planning a team effort!
I blogged a while back about how much I love the bird trend. Birds will be on our cake, at our guest book table, and on most of our stationery, so it just seemed natural to have a birdcage veil! I’ll actually be sporting one mostly for my bridal portraits, and I’ll be wearing a cathedral veil for the ceremony. Yes, that’s right. I’m a two-veil bride. What? That’s totally normal!
I don’t have any pictures of me in the birdcage, but I will post pictures of it from Etsy and share with you where I bought everything!

When my parents were married in 1980, my mother borrowed her sister’s gown and they had a pot luck reception at the local church. My mother’s “something new” was her veil. 28 years later my mother has offered her something new as my something old. I already have and love my veil, so how should I use hers?
We would like to make more than one piece from the veil so my sister can have a something old for her wedding day. We have thought about making it into handkerchiefs or wrapping my bouquet handle, but we just are not in love with those ideas. What do you creative readers think?

You’ve witnessed my mad love for damask, but I may be even MORE mad for the mantilla veil! The only requirement I had before dress shopping was that I would be wearing a mantilla. When I saw myself walking down the aisle to my best friend, I just couldn’t picture it any other way. So when I actually put one on my head, I was in lovvvvvve. Serious, obsessive lovvve.
The problem is, there aren’t many bridal shops that carry mantilla veils, and it’s hard to picture how they will look from a picture online. I may have a veil custom made by Sposabella or I may even make one myself. I just would have to find the perfect lace, and that might take just as long as finding a veil already made!
Another aspect I can’t quite put together is the blusher. I’d like to wear one, and it’s hard with a mantilla.

When I read about the CastleBride Couture Weekly Contest on Justine’s The Unbride blog, I immediately hopped over to check out Kirstin Fox’s birdcage veil selection. I found them to be absolutely, positively, incredible! Shortly thereafter, I put in my entry for the contest as I had fallen deeply and madly in love with the Keira Veil shown below.

I am a coffee addict, especially Starbucks' Grande Mochas, yummy! I love to cook (especially chocolate chip cookies for my honey), travel to exotic places, and be creative. As a couple, Mr. Cookie and I are extremely practical, down to earth, and children at heart. We live in a cozy abode with our adorable Pomeranian, and love to play board games and watch movies into the evening.
She’s here! After months of patiently and not so patiently waiting, I got the call!“Hello, this is Miss Cookie.”
“Hi Miss Cookie, this is Jordan with Anna Bè. I am excited to tell you that your dress has arrived.”
“Huzzah! Can I come over and say, ‘Hello?’”
“Absolutely!”
And that’s just what I did. Although, my dress will be held in the custody of my fabulous bridal salon, Anna Bè, until my fittings are complete, I couldn’t have my dress in the vicinity without at least saying hello. So, I braved the horrors of rush hour traffic –FYI: I drive like a grandma – to see her.
And there she was! Just as I remembered. Ivory. Biased-cut. Mermaid skirt. It was one of those, “OMG, I am getting married!” moments! Our meeting was brief – just a quick inspection to make sure nothing had been damaged during shipping, and I also set a fitting schedule. But I couldn’t leave the salon empty handed. My veils were also in!
