I absolutely LOVED our florist. Utopian Design created some amazing displays for us, and even added something a little special into the bouquet for me.
Here is my bouquet:

My wedding dress problems have been well documented on Weddingbee but I was fairly happy with how it all turned out in the end. My dress, my MOH’s dress and my Mom’s dress all came from a wonderful shop in Regina called NWL. I can’t say enough great things about NWL and it’s owner Nadia Williamson - she was so fantastic throughout my whole wedding dress fiasco and her shop has the most unique dresses in Regina.
My MOH’s dress was exactly what I wanted and we bought it off the rack for $50! My mom’s dress was not quite as easy but when we finally figured out what we wanted, we went to see Nadia and she ordered in the perfect dress for us. Finally, when I went to Nadia with my original dress, she knew that it was not right and gave me a fantastic deal on a new dress and veil. Her personalized service is unparalleled in the wedding dress shops in Regina and as I said, she carries dresses that no one else in Regina has. I would (and do!) recommend NWL to everyone! A+++
Now, some pics of me and my MOH in our dresses throughout the day:

Long time no blog Weddingbee! How have you all been? It’s been so long that I am not sure if any of you new-bees will even know who I am, the site has grown so much since I started blogging not even a year ago now! I have been extremely busy but we are finally feeling settled in our new house in our new city, and the new job is becoming less and less scary as the time goes on. Now, if only I could get rid of that pesky bar course….
Anyhow, I thought it was about time that I post some professional pictures of our wedding day and some vendor reviews. I will start with the small details and reviews of our ceremony and reception cites.
Now that I’m back, I can really give my final grades on my vendors. Overall, I was happy with most of them but here is my report card:
Duke Photography: A++! I absolutely loved my photographer. Not only was he classy, super nice and very efficient — he had to deal with a lot of problems and was really cool about it. He would say, “Don’t worry, let it go. Remember… just have fun!” He was also very fast in changing lens and making quick decisions. He was very upfront and honest with you, but at the same time he was always gentle and very sweet. And his pictures were awesome!
Renaissance Montura Hotel/LAX: A+ This newly remodeled hotel was great to us! The room was a bit tiny so we were all smushed in 2 sections of the ballroom, but I think it was okay. The food was pretty great (I had never really experienced great wedding food) and the fruit fondue was a hit! We rented our own lights and sound equipment so I can’t really speak for their stuff. Their dance floor was spacious and I liked the arrangement of how the room was set up.
Oh, how I miss my wedding! How I wish it wasn’t over and just a beautiful memory in my mind… just kidding, I love being married! But all the same, I miss the whole process, all the minutia, the DIY, the excitement and the anticipation…
But let me recap one of my favorite aspects of our wedding, one which we dedicated a lot of thought, effort and uhmm, dough, to getting *just right.* The decor!
Flowers - Fleur Couture
Fleur was one of my favorite vendors, and I really, really enjoyed working with the owner, Kelly Marie. Her work is so amazingly fantabulous… and reasonably priced to boot (ok, she’s not “cheap” by any means, but relative to her competitors, she’s definitely reasonable). She was so patient with my numerous emails and did her best to answer my questions in a timely manner. We met 3 times over the course of 9 months, and I always knew I was in good hands. (FYI, I decided to be crazy and provided ALL my own glassware, candles, votives, lanterns, everything right down to the river rocks!!)
I know I haven’t really gotten into all the meaty, nitty gritty details of our wedding day yet, but I’m going to jump ahead with a brief overview of our Chinese Banquet the next day.
That Sunday morning, we had brunch at my parents house with most of my extended out-of-town family. It was rushed but fun, and we were still exhilarated (and pooped) from our wedding the night before. Then I frantically went to Zazu Salon in Hinsdale and had my hair done by TJ, having never even met the stylist, let alone having done a trial with her! But I just crossed my fingers and figured it would be fine. I was right, A+ for TJ! I decided to go with a “low, messy, bun” (my exact descriptor words to her) since I had my hair half up/half down for my Saturday wedding. Actually, my first reaction when TJ finished was, “Hrmm, I think this updo makes me look OLD.” But then I realized it worked very nicely with my traditional Chinese chi pao.

Not the greatest picture, but this was taken right after we arrived at his parents’ house.
Here are a few of the guys in their tuxes and a review of my vendor. They all looked great!
Kristy Cummings Photography–F.
I got married nearly four months ago, and I admittedly haven’t put up many vendor reviews yet.
That’s because all my wedding and vendor-related energy has been dedicated toward a problem of massive proportions: my wedding photographer.
Here’s a super-condensed version of what has transpired:
In August 2006 we hired Kristy Cummings to shoot our wedding. Leading up to the wedding, I had no problems communicating with her via either email or phone. She also showed up at the wedding, stayed for the allotted time, etc. No problems there. However, immediately after the wedding I had great difficulty contacting her. She’d told us that our photos would be ready ‘two or three weeks’ after the wedding and that deadline came and went–no photos.
Cake: Food Attitude
$7/per slice for a fondant covered cake. The best prices and service in town! The fondant layer actually tasted good by the way! The sales girls were so nice to work with and stayed on top of things. The cake was delicious - a lot of guests actually complimented us on the cake, so who said no one eats the cake?! They gave us the top tier to take home. We saved one slice to freeze and ate the rest with our neighbors and family that week.
