WONDERING WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT? Here are answers to common frequently asked questions.
#1 - WHAT MAKES AZALEA BRIDAL SPECIAL? Since our mother/daughter team actually owns this bridal shop there are no "sales" consultants here who have to sell you a dress to keep their job. We don't work on commission so our opinion actually has your best interest at heart.
#2 - WHEN SHOULD I PURCHASE MY WEDDING GOWN? At least 7 months before your wedding. (Some wedding books recommend 12 months.) As you know, a wedding gown is not a regular purchase. Gowns are not made until we place the order. It's the only "outfit" we have hyper-focused on since birth. The entire process is approached much differently from any other purchase you have ever made. Wedding attire really does take FIVE to SIX months to order. We are not kidding. You must also allow additional time for alterations. There is no "pay more money for overnight delivery" option like we are used to with regular purchases. The designers we carry do not have a warehouse full of wedding gowns ready to overnight to you like Amazon.com. This is fine wedding attire and cannot be treated like an everyday purchase. We will agree to allow you to buy a gown off the rack if you find the size and style that you want but please be aware that most Brides decide to order their gown.
#3 - ARE APPOINTMENTS REQUIRED TO TRY ON WEDDING GOWNS? Yes! Appointments are required to better assist you in a calm and focused manner. Generally, we cannot accept walk-ins for this type of appointment. We need you to fill out an appointment request so we understand what you are looking for. For example, if you want a wedding gown in the over $5,000 range we won't be right for you since our wedding gowns range from $1,000 to $3,000. An appointment request helps you figure out that fit before you waste an hour of your time. You can quickly request an Appointment by clicking the Appointments link at the top of any page.
#4 - HOW LONG ARE APPOINTMENTS? One Hour. We are a large boutique store so all of our gowns are out on display. We don't play games with hiding the gowns away in the back. This gives you the ability to see what we have, browse, and even lightly touch the materials. You can make a well informed decision when you can see what your options are.
#5 - WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT AN APPOINTMENT? During your hour, you will get the individual attention of a bridal expert. We have owned a bridal shop now for eight years and even survived the great recession. This enables us to provide you high-level expertise. You have the freedom to take pictures in each gown that you try on. You can try on as many gowns as you reasonably need to during your one hour appointment. We will quickly get you started, confirm your likes and dislikes, show you the collections, pull gowns you select to try on, help you in and out of the gowns, and make recommendations based on your needs. We will also keep you updated on the status of your order and call you as soon as it arrives. We are always so excited for the Bride when she picks up her gown. It's such a special moment.
#6 - WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME TO THE APPOINTMENT? Your stuff. Wedding Gowns look totally different when everything is in the right place. :-) Bring a strapless bra, control top hose (if you intend to wear them), your Spanx, and shoes with the heel height you intend to wear during the ceremony.
#7 - WHAT TIPS HELP ME FIND THE BEST GOWN FOR ME? Be open and try on different styles. In the first few minutes we meet, we can already tell what styles will look best on you. If you don't ever try anything different you might miss out on something amazing. What you thought you wanted might not look as good on as planned so try on different necklines and different skirt shapes so you get the wedding gown that looks the best on you. Why not?
#8 - WHO SHOULD I BRING WITH ME? Only 1 or 2 people whose opinion really matters. One of those people must be your decision maker. If the person paying for your gown is not with you then you will have a harder time convincing them to buy the gown you want when they were completely left out of the process. You should also discuss budget with them before you start shopping.
#9 - CAN I BRING CHILDREN WITH ME? No. You cannot bring children 14 years old and under with you. There are no exceptions. We love children but not while you are looking for a wedding gown or any other formal wear. Child safety is a huge priority for us. At this time, our bridal shop is not intended for children. For the most part, we do not sell items for children. You will need to make other arrangements for them while you are in the store. If you have a childcare issue arise, then please call us asap as your appointment will have to be rescheduled. If an older child needs a gown for a function or as a bridesmaid, then we can discuss making a special appointment to address their needs separately.
#10 - WHAT TIPS WILL HELP MY EXPERIENCE BE BETTER? Arrive with a happy attitude is the best advice anyone anywhere can give you about anything. If you are stressed, mad at that Bridesmaid who always disappoints you, or just told off your fiance because your latte was iced and not hot, you aren't going to find the wedding gown all of us refer to as The One. Sometimes bad days conflict with happy days. If that happens just strap on a happy face and commit to not letting toxic people/ situations ruin one of the best experiences of your life. Or, if a happy face isn't going to happen, please call to see if we have availability to reschedule you.
#11 - WHAT SILLY THINGS CAN MELT DOWN AN ALREADY STRESSED CLIENT? Getting upset about the size of the dress! Don't get upset about sizes. Formal wear usually runs much smaller than normal clothes. If this happens to you, consider yourself normal. But seriously, if you won't try on dresses that actually fit then you will never find one that looks good. Embrace your individuality and awesomeness. No one cares what size wedding gown you buy. No one knows. Love yourself. After all, your fiance loves you as you are.

After hearing countless horror stories from frantic Brides about their botched wedding gowns purchased online, we felt we should provide you with a “Buyer Beware” so you have the facts before you're taken advantage of.
If your “dream” wedding gown arrives and you can’t wear it, what are you going to do? Your budget is gone. Your time to order a new gown is gone. And, your dream wedding may no longer be what you dreamed of. Just because you heard of one person who did not get screwed by an online criminal, is saving a few dollars really worth the risk? Buying a wedding gown online is EXTREMELY risky.
We have helped many upset brides who purchased their wedding gown online and did not get what they were led to believe they would get. They did not receive the dress they expected at all. Some brides received counterfeit dresses that were a very poor imitation of a designer picture. (One gown looked like a kid sowed it!) Some received dresses that had already been worn. Some received the wrong style. Some did not even receive the correct size they ordered. And, in some cases the dress was delivered after the wedding!! I mean really – the online merchant has your money so why does he care that you get the correct dress? Can you track down someone online to get your money back? No. Have any idea where they live? No. They probably do not even live in the United States.
Additionally, the alterations that these online dresses need often cost more than the bride paid for her dress. And wait until you bid on that eBay dress from China. You know the one for $169 – the one that “looks” like a Mori Lee (because they use Mori Lee’s pictures illegally!) Yeah, that’s the one. The one that has the $300 shipping charge because they “HAVE” to use the China Emergency System to mail it. Then it arrives and it's nothing like the picture. Real Mori Lee dresses don't have glued-on beads!!
Using the internet to search out styles and find out what type of dress you like best is definitely a good idea to get started. But when you are ready to purchase your Wedding Gown – you need to see it and get the one you are paying for. That can only happen at a brick and mortar store. We, and every other real bridal store, cannot stress to you enough not to buy your gown online.
Many other sites warn against this same thing. Brides who buy online are almost certain to be taken advantage of. It is rare for a Bride to actually receive the wedding gown she paid for. One site warns “This is the most important dress you will ever buy. Is saving a few dollars worth the risk?” Azalea Bridal agrees with this 100%. We would rather you buy from any other boutique than for you to send your hard earned money saved for a wedding gown to a criminal.
