Last Saturday we had the awesome opportunity lead a segment at the April SoCal Photog ShootOut, and what can I say other than wow! Their organizers did such a great job getting models, stylists, florist, and photographers together in one amazing venue. If you’re a photographer looking for a community where you can share, learn, be challenged and grow, I highly suggest checking out your local Photog ShootOut Group.

We specialize in photography that reveals the world in a unique and artistic way unlike anything you have seen before. We draw from a vast experience with studio and wedding photography to create dramatic breathtaking images. Looking for something fun and different? We’d love to hear from you – studio@nathanielkamphotography.com

Meet Mike and Michelle our fun loving couple for the day. Prior to their engagement I had been wondering (for like 7 months) how Michelle found us. Turns out we’re also shooting her cousins wedding in San Francisco later this year – I know small world…seriously. Little run down of the route we took – we started the shoot in the Gaslamp Quarter, moved on down to Petco Park, traveled over the newly constructed footbridge, around the waterfront and up and over the San Diego Convention Center (which is like a mountain of stairs). We were aiming for, ”a good mixture of urban and sunset shots” (Next time you refer to “air quotes” in person, call them ” air bunnies”).

Michelle, “I don’t think I’ve ever blown him a kiss before”

See that balcony right above us, I looked at Mike and Michelle and knew we were both thinking, man it’d be cool to get up there. One of these days, whoever lives in that apartment…will get a polite and courtesy phone call from me asking to use their living room for our shoots.

(Believe it or not we spend a lot of time moving furniture on these shoots)

Michelle’s got this look down!

Ain’t they cute?
Did you know ain’t is the contraction for “are not” (I didn’t….I just looked it up right now)

That biker in the background almost ran into me…then he blocked 2 of my shots. Sure beat standing in the middle of the street though.

(I am now in the middle of the street – luckily it’s one way)

Is it just me or does anyone else hear, John Denver – “I’m leaving on a Jetplane” when they look at this one?

Of course my favorite shot for the night

Love the photos? Are you or someone you know getting married in San Diego, Orange County, Irvine, or Los Angeles? We’d love to hear from you.

Location: Renaissance Hotel, Carson Community Center

Check out their Engagement Session Here

First off gotta say, I loved this hotel – check out the Marriott Renaissance in Long Beach
Modern decor, whimsical accents, and some pretty cool colors made for an excellent spot to take photos.

Patty about to get ready

Patty being a princess

Did I say how much I love their interior designer?

Grabbing some fun shots at the hotel before we head to the ceremony

I will admit I was in a bit of a “Twilighty” mood with the chess pieces – good thing this chess set is modern and funky

Check out the groomsmen – If I rented a Mercedes Maybach…I’d probably be chilling in it every second I could too!
This thing was seriously a limo for 4, fully reclining seats – what?! Yeah the back seats are basically in a separate zip code from the front.

Every seat + the Aisle + the Sides were filled +250 Guests

No Cold Feet here

All kids should rock the vest and hat look

One of my favorite photos, probably ever

Tony watches as Patty walks down the aisle

Our flower girl

Patty’s father walks her down the aisle

Everything looks so perfect

A song for the couple

Standing is tough work

A SURPRISE song from Tony to Patty

Epic moment

The vows

The blessing

You may now kiss the bride

Present for the first time ever!

Patty and her father

Mariachi Band – this was quite the musical wedding

Welcome Toasts

Night Portraits of the Bride and Groom

Garter Toss

The rings

Congratulations Tony and Patty!
