After a ten-year career as a wedding and event planner, Nikki Cole picked up her first professional camera in 2003.  She began by assisting some of Boston’s premier wedding photographers.  Because of her fun and easy attitude, expert knowledge and great eye, Nikki started attracting her own clients.  In addition to being a skilled photographer, Nikki captures the perfect image by creating a fun and comfortable experience for her clients bringing out the best in them.

Whether your wedding is a small, intimate group of 25 guests or a boisterous group of 500 of your closest friends and family, Photography by Nikki Cole is honored to be a part of your wedding celebration.

We have been fortunate enough to work at some of the most fashionable Boston locations such as Boston Harbor Hotel, The Taj and Seaport Hotel.  Photography by Nikki Cole has also been welcomed at favorite wedding destinations on Cape Cod, Maine and Newport

Photography by Nikki Cole helps to document your wedding day for future generations.  To achieve this, we work to stay in the background and allow your story to unfold naturally.  Many would characterize our style as candid photography, journalistic, or documentary-style.  Whatever you call it, our goal is to tell your story by capturing the special moments of your wedding day.

Wedding photography is unique.  Since your wedding is not staged, the photographer must instinctually know when and where to be to capture the perfect moment.  We don’t get a second chance!  Nikki’s unique background in wedding planning allows her to have that sixth sense on your wedding day.

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?

When available, I prefer to use available light as that is always the most natural. My equipment is also ideal for low light situations which is so common at weddings.

Is your media preference film or digital?

I shoot entirely digital.

How many photographers do you work with?

I am happy to shoot alone or with a second photographer depending on your preference.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?

Absolutely!

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?

I am currently shooting with a Canon 1D. I love this camera! It is an incredibly fast camera, which allows me to truly capture moments in real time. During events, I carry a second Canon 1D for back up. I also have duplicate flashes, lenses, memory cards and batteries.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?

I guarantee in your contract that you will receive your photos within three weeks of your wedding day.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?

You will receive your photos on thumb drive and will also be able to view your photos on line.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?

It is my pleasure to offer you a thumb drive of high resolution images as part of your wedding package.

When Johnica and Darin wanted to add some Boston flair to their destination wedding in Mexico, they called me!  We planned a engagement session along Boston’s charming waterfront.  And to my excitement, Johnica took the party from the waterfront to ON the water!  I had so much fun with them, I’m so sad I’ll be missing the wedding!  Feel like flying me to Mexico Johnica?

When Isabel’s mother met with me to photograph the Bat Mitzvah, she showed me a photo of her three daughters.  And just like their mother, they were stunning!  I knew it was going to be a blast photographing them!  But as I spent the day and got to know Isabel and her two sisters, I realized they are as lovely on the inside as they are on the outside.  And even more fun!  Check out the fabulous party they had for Isabel!  Mazel Tov girl!

When Jennifer and Steve suggested the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, ME for the engagement shoot, I was so excited!  I’ve not been wandering around that area for years.  After a few weeks of postponing due to bad weather, we finally got our break!  And it was worth the wait!!!  I loved watching Jen & Steve.  Jen is sweet and reserved, but Steve brought her smile out at every turn.  Thanks for a beautiful day!  Just can’t wait for the wedding.

This was a blast from the past for me!  When I was contacted by mom Nancy to do Sabrina’s Bat Mitzvah at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, I was thrilled.  I had actually planned sister Marielle’s Bat Mitzvah at Seaport Hotel years back and they were one of my favorite families to work with!  It was so special seeing the smart, beautiful woman Marielle has become and seeing Sabrina truly come into her own.  Thank you so much for including me!  I will be looking forward to the weddings…far into the future!

Kiri & Dave were so excited to be married, but they weren’t excited at the prospect of a big wedding where they were the center of attention all night.  So off to City Hall it was!  Kiri & Dave were married in front of close family and friends at Cambridge City Hall. The group continued the celebration at Maggiano’s for lunch.  But not before I stole some time alone with them in the Public Garden.  The park was even more green and colorful set against the light fog of the day.  It was so romantic!
