Well, hive, the time has come for me to bid the ‘Bee goodbye. I wanted to put down a few final thoughts as I wrap up my last days as a blogger.

Are you changing your name? Yes. Anyone else out there currently have a surname that can also be a FIRST name? Do people with whom you have worked for years sometimes accidentally call you by it?

I am a little sad to lose my maiden name, but a) I took it as my new middle name and b) it sure will be nice not to be mistakenly addressed by last name anymore.
Would you have done anything differently? Yes—I wish I had tried the passed snacks we had arranged as a late-night treat while dancing. Deep regret there. Beyond that, not really! It would have been great to stick to our initial projected budget, but I very quickly loosened up (a lot) when we realized what it would cost to get married in the city. Oh well. Also? I’m SO glad I blogged the whole experience. It’s the coolest digital scrapbook of this special time, and I would highly recommend doing it, even if it’s just for your close friends and family. It’s a huge job, but you’ll be so happy you have it after all is said and done.
And you might make new friends! Beers with Miss Wishbone last weekend.
How do you feel now that it’s all over? Um, awesome. As you know, weddings are crazy and stressful, and not everyone likes being in the center of everything all the time…so if you find yourself not being the “BEST DAY EVER” kind of bride, IT. IS. OKAY. Real talk: There were moments throughout the day when I felt dread or wanted it all to be over. This is not a remark on my love for Ben or even how much I enjoyed our wedding day, but rather the intensity of attention on me and the responsibility I felt for showing our guests a good time.

Literally everyone will tell you, “It goes by so fast! Savor every moment!!!” …shrug. That just wasn’t my experience. At 8:00 PM, I glanced at the time and couldn’t believe we still had two hours to go. Haha! Again, I don’t want to give the impression that I had a bad time at my own wedding, but amid all the joy and laughter, these moments were also very real and I think that’s okay.
It can be the Best Day Ever without being “best” minute by minute. Just saying. | Photo by RRG Wedding
What’s next for the Sixpences? We’ve got a very busy summer coming up, with lots of fun travel (Road trip to Texas! Girls’ weekend in Palm Springs! Cincinnati to see the Dodgers! <– okay, not that excited about this one), and we’re working hard on paying off our debt so we can be prepared if a shiny little copper penny were to make its way to us. 😉 Mostly, we’re enjoying married life, doting on Mae, and relishing all the time and resources freed up after the conclusion of these festivities!
Well, I think that about does it. I have so enjoyed my time here with you all! Thanks for reading, commenting, and for putting up with my neuroses all the way from a little suburb outside Chicago. It’s been a wild ride, and I’m glad I got to share it with you.
Love, Mrs. Sixpence
